So I prefer to do Gym battles a little differently than the games since the Play Characters fight trainers or battle wild Pokemon all the time. For some variety I like the Gym Battles to be special. For this next gym battle I want to do a race, its a water gym so it would be with water Pokemon down a white water rapid. I looked around the forum and didn't see anything but I am wondering if anyone has done a Pokemon race before. logistically i'm thinking it would be similar to combat, turned based and speed would be important. If anyone has experience doing this that would be really helpful. |

What you could do is utilize the Extended Skill checks concept or just have them roll several checks for the challenge and have them roll Athletics checks to maintain their top speed effectively (maybe a full out run doubles your relative movement capability or the greater their success the fast they move...low rolls indicate stumbles, losing of breath, or losing focus). Maybe have obstacles in the course that they have to make Acrobatics checks to avoid or targets they must stop and attack before they can proceed further.
