Are you asking for build advice, or for a homebrew fossil class? If it's the former, the Paleontologist Researcher path can be taken at level 1, as can the Paleontologist Edge. This would allow you to revive fossils from the beginning, and get you started on the path of specializing in fossils. You might also be interested in the Rock Type Ace, which would synergize with fossil Pokemon. The area beyond this is pretty open. You have a research path and two class slots open, which leaves you with a ton of room when deciding how to specialize. If you want to focus on the sense of exploration and discovery, perhaps the Backpacker or Archivist would be good fits? If you want to focus on battles, then find a battle style you like and take classes that support it. Or maybe your character is more than just a paleontologist, and has other talents? You can take classes that fall outside your initial idea, especially if they add depth to your character. As for starting with fossil Pokemon, that's up to your GM. Personally, I would allow most fossil Pokemon as potential starters, and would let you apply the Fossil Restoration bonus if it made sense in your backstory. While most GMs would not allow a player to start with an actual fossil restoration machine, perhaps you have ties to a university or research lab that does. Ties to a research organization also provide plot hooks for your character. If you are looking for a homebrew class, there are a few scattered around this forum, although most of them are a few editions out of date. I think the current Paleontology research path covers most of the material that they covered, though, so I don't think they are necessary at this point. |
