About a year ago, I was working with SlytherC and a few others to put together a companion book to their homebrew region where their current game is taking place, the Geode region. There was a lot of brainstorming and fun ideas, but the project eventually petered out due to real life complications taking up time. During development, I was given/took on the job of working on elementalists. Specifically, in their game, there are two varieties of elementalist, those that are made via science (the common and base class) and those that occur naturally/were born this way. Natural elementalists, while stronger than their synthetic counterparts, their connection causes them severe detriments in exchange. My quest was to make add-ons to these classes to make them feel unique through great boons and great problems. Sadly, before I could complete all of these, the project was lost to the real world... at least for the time being. A year later, I found the file on my computer, finished it up, balanced it a bit, and got permission from SlytherC to post them here, so here they are. First, the base feature. Spoiler: click to toggle Not that interesting right? Well I'm getting to the good stuff, but first the bad stuff (although I always like this kind of stuff). Spoiler: click to toggle OOPH. That's pretty rough. Why would anyone put up with such horrific downsides? Probably because of this. Spoiler: click to toggle It's at this point that I state that these are meant to be VERY powerful, and there is no guarantee that these will be in the Geode region book if/when it comes out. Also, these have not been play-tested in any way. Anyway, enjoy and feedback is welcome. Also, someone please tell me if they ever allow this in their game. Edited for proofreading and language fixes. Edited by theweirdest1, Dec 19 2016, 12:19 PM.

I would, they are really strong but this player has to live with these downsides until they pick up their capstone, I'd leave that up to the player to see if they think its worth it or not. Also I'd like to see a Telekinetic capstone. |

I am going to use some of these on bosses. Any ideas for the psychic classes and aura guardian? They are elementalists classes |

Right, so a few things: 1. Change the "+1 Damage Base" to "+5 damage". It's a far more standardised bonus. 2. The "Panic Attacks" flaw: I get what you mean, a Volatile version of paralysis, however, by RAW, it doesn't work. You can "make a save check", sure, but for Paralysis that just means you can have your full turn. If you fail you can still do "something". Even if you can't do EVERYTHING. It might be better to word it as "If you fail a skill check by 3 or more, you suffer a panic attack. Treat this as a Volatile Status Affliction with a Save Check of 11+, made at the start of your turn. On a failure, you cannot take any actions. On a success, you are cured." 3. Most of the flaws are... fine. Actually. Completely manageable even if you get hit with one that affects your main skills. Even blackouts can be... interesting. Assuming, of course, you don't have a vindictive GM who uses blackouts as an excuse to dick you over... Key word being "most". Bloodthirsty is... odd. Mainly, it needs clarification. Some GMs may have Bloodthirsty mean "Literal death to your enemies" while others may have it mean something more like "Leave nothing conscious." All-Consuming Insanity may as well say "Yeah.... you might want to make a new character. Sorry about all the effort you put into this one, but, uh, yeah... your GM is going to be the one having fun here. Not you. Sorry about that.". It's frankly ridiculous. Last, but not least, 4: Having AP binds and frequency limits just doesn't work. Like, at all. AP binds are, inherently, at-will for one simple reason: AP remains bound until you unbind it. By RAW, while you can only bind, say, Claim the Dragon's Right, once per day it remains active all day because there's no inherent "unbind" in the feature description. This COULD be intentional, of course, since Claim the Dragon's Right has that "until the end of the scene clause", but the Command check bit... yeah that's sticking around. All day. Which is frankly ridiculous. That all being said, this is some good work. Nice job. |

Sorry, been working. Holiday rush is crazy. Yeah, I do want to make capstones for Aura Guardian, but in the original project, I was never sure if Aura Guardian was an elementalist in the same way as the Game of Throhs classes were, so I just didn't. I'll get around to it soon enough and then update this when I do. As for psionic classes, it's a little difficult since Elemental Connection (Psychic) can get you 3 different classes. Making a one capstone for all 3 is a a daunting task that I just haven't gotten around to, and making one for each class means that someone could get all 3, and I don't want that. I am currently in a game with something that could work for all 3, but I'm not sure yet as it hasn't really come up. I'll keep looking. Cookie, thanks for catching those. These should have been Drain AP, not Bind. Fixing them now. The +5 is also something I should have done, but that wasn't standard when I started working on these. Good point on panic attacks. I'll work something out as it's a little sloppy right now. My goal was to have it last more than just a round (as panic attacks are awful and can last a long time) and be more than just a "lose a turn and then you are fine." As for the rest of them, the player will likely have to get to level 17 at bare minimum to get your cool feature, and thats a lot of game to get through (unless someone is starting at a higher level), so they aren't meant to be completely crippling, but they aren't meant to be easily ignorable. The power level could be tweaked a bit on some. Bloodthirsty is intentionally vague. It can be flavored either way depending on the setting of the game. If it's a traditional game, maybe you have to knock out all the other trainer's mon, and give it an extra kick for good measure. Maybe you also want to challenge the trainer to a punch-up. However in something more gritty, death may be the only way. What if your job is to take on a Rocket hideout? These are bad people. Would the police or rangers care if some of them died while you were trying to apprehend them? As for All-Consuming Insanity... yeah... I don't really know what to say here, it's meant to be one of the bad ones. I should explain that I don't play a lot of PbP games. When I'm with my party and my gm tells me one thing and the rest of my party another, I know out of character and can have fun with that. In a PbP game since the rest of your party isn't always with you, I would cap the number of uses on this at once or twice a day. Insanity is only interesting when you aren't sure what's real and what's not. When your Gm is just using it to mess with your constantly or have you not play the game that your friends are, then you should talk to your GM. |

These actually fit very well with an idea for a campaign I've been building in my head for a while. I had some rough ideas and this would go very well with it. |

So for PSI classes it might be best to make 1 Capstone for each class but a player can only get one capstone. So like if your TK/Warper you could only get the capstone for Warper or TK. I have no idea what'd they'd be but it seems like a (Mostly) balanced option. |

Sorry for late reply. Life has been happening. I like that idea and once life calms down, I may get back to working on it. |

Daily/50? What the hell? Am I missing something here or is this a typo? I feel like most At-Wills could be called Daily/50. |
