So, I was planning on (re)starting a game soon, and a player had interest in the new starters for it, and having just the right type of impatience for it I decided to mock something up just in case we started before the devs got to it. Lucky me, most of the information is already available in the form of Smogon's datamine discussion threads, so all I really had to do was translate new moves and abilities (and assign certain PTU-only bits).

Preface: All stats and move lists are pulled from the datamine. I have created nothing from whole cloth; there are two new Abilities (one each for Rowlet and Popplio's lines) and six new Moves (two for Rowlet, three for Litten, and one for Popplio), that are described at the end of their respective documents.

Rowlet - Leafage is a really simple retexturing of Water Gun, and Decidueye's Spirit Shackle I decided to base on Shadow Ball. Their "new" ability was fortunately something that Doxy et al had already introduced in the February packet... I'll make no bones about it, Long Reach is basically Spike Shot. Since the descriptions over on Serebii make a lot of fuss about stealth, we have high Stealth, the Stealth capability, and Covert. And, of course, it's an archer, so I thought it'd be remiss if it didn't get Sniper.

Stupid Thing What Ruined Fire-Types ForeverLitten - Prefacing this with I GODDAMN HATE INCINEROAR. It's stupid, it's ugly, I wish it didn't exist, and it's finally broken me of choosing the Fire-type starter. Also, it's slower than its Stage 1 form. Eh. Here we have a simple physical brute, and before you get on me about Huge Power remember that Delphox has Sorcery in the packet. Brutal Swing just screamed "mini-Thrash" to me, so without seeing it at work that's what I made it into. You may notice here my tendency to drop things at EOT if I don't know their PPs, and that all of the new moves I've translated have 100% accuracy. And, yes, he's a cat, so I tried to emphasize the Acrobatics rather than the Athletics. Even with the Stage 2's hideous build.

Popplio - Yes, all the new starters are tiny. Liquid Voice is a copypaste of any of the "-ate" abilities that change move types, and I felt Wistful Melody was appropriate, at least for Primarina. I feel like Sparkling Aria might be the most questionable of the new moves at where I put it. Skills are (mostly) shuffled from Spheal's line.
