This thought was originally brought about from harijizo on deviantart's picture of the Team Fortress 2 crew as Pokémon. I never really got into TF2 much and I can't find any pictures of this sort for Overwatch, so I'm asking if anyone might find drawings of that kind interesting, entertaining, or cool.
I currently have one picture done to my satisfaction, and ideas for most of the rest of the cast. I tried to make it so that there's at least one move or a dex reference for each character. Here's what I'm working with so far. (Knowledge about the Overwatch character's abilities and backstory will help.)
Offense
Spoiler: click to toggle Genji/Scyther - So, why a Scyther as a robot ninja? Well, they have decent speed. Not blazing fast, but I'd say enough to justify it. As for Genji's abilities: The throwing stars can translate into vacuum waves (the first attack a Scyther learns), swift strike to quick attack, dragonblade to swords dance, cyber agility to a Scyther's natural speed and wings, deflect... is where I ran into a problem. They can't learn detect, so the moveset isn't perfect. But I'm not looking for perfection, an interesting idea is all I'm asking for.
Tracer/Celebi - Raise your hand if you saw this one coming... I don't normally use legends for anything, but the whole natural time traveler thing won out.
Reaper/Abra or Gengar - That's right, I'm welcoming all evolution stages. No discrimination here. Shadow step to shadowsneak or teleport, wraithform would just be a ghost's typical ability to phase out (for the Gengar at least), and I was imagining death blossom as a small field of psychic energy or a mega-Gengar affecting the area close by.
McCree/Lilligant - I think I might need to explain this one quickly. Lilligants are known for throwing sleep powder and then trying to sweep. What does McCree do? While he's not a potato at long range, hitting that flashbang used to seal fates.
76 and Pharah I'm looking for suggestions, I haven't really had any ideas for them.
Defense
Spoiler: click to toggle Hanzo is another I'm having trouble with. The only interesting idea I've been able to come up with is an Octillery, for a wall climbing sniper. However, I wouldn't really get to draw much that defines Hanzo of I did decide on an Octillery.
Widowmaker/Luxray - My first thought was an Ariados, but let's get rid of that kind of unimaginative thinking right now. So, I'm glad I put some more thought into it. In the dex entries, I came up with x-ray vision in place of the scout visor. As for what to do about the sniper rifle, I was thinking one that's attached to a harness across the Luxray's shoulders that can be pulled down and activated with electricity.
Bastion/Klingklang - I'll be honest and say that this one was mostly accidental. I couldn't come up with anything for Bastion for a long time, but the Klingklangs of the world have saved me. They show an ability to separate for a moment and reattach with their in game animations (or Klings do, at least). The dex entry says the red core stores large amounts of energy (I think we have our minigun) from the other gears' spinning, then fires it.
Mei/Glaceon or Abomasnow - This is another one that could really use some suggestions. I run into the same problem of not being able to draw Mei's weapon on a quadruped. An Abomasnow probably works better, because of snow warning.
Torbjörn/Probopass, Claydol, Torkoal, Camerupt - Torb's main draw is the sentry turret, of course, so I mainly looked to make connections with that to any moves out there... I failed. I did however remember Probopass and Claydol's ability for setting mini noses and clay cannons in PTU. The clay cannon probably makes more sense considering a Claydol can only set one, and a Probopass probably works better as Symmetra.
Junkrat/Bagon - Another one decided by dex entry. Bagons are obsessed with flying, and what better way to achieve that (barring Pharah) than launching yourself into the air with explosives? This is the picture I currently have done and will post if people show interest in this sort of thing.
Tank
Spoiler: click to toggle Reinhardt/Golurk or Bastiodon - A Golurk for the rocket charge probably makes more sense than going with a Bastiodon cause Reinhardt's personality makes him seem like the kind of guy who would block something with his face.
Winston - Haven't had much inspiration here either. A Gyarados makes a bit of sense. They can learn thunder/bolt/wave in place of the tesla gun, and they're known for raging, but I feel like there could be a better choice.
Roadhog/Blissey - Aside from both having the highest hp in their games, the backstory for Roadhog makes him seem like a normal guy who lost his mind. Which could happen to even the nicest of us. The signature soft-boiled for take a breather.
D.Va/Kangaskhan - This one would be the young Kangaskhan that you normally see rideing in the adult's pouch, except the young one is instead piloting an adult Kangaskhan mech. Confusing enough? Good.
Zarya/Gardevoir or Regigigas - If I hadn't already lost all credibility, it's probably gone now. The body builder Gardevoir? Surely you jest. That one is there for a dex entry though, specifically the black hole ones. Graviton surge is basically that. The Regigigas is based more on playstyle. Zarya can sometimes take a bit of effort to get her damage going, just like a Regigigas.
Support
Spoiler: click to toggle Mercy/Audino - Kinda feels like the obvious choice, so I'm looking for suggestions on anything more creative. Audinos are usually the go-to for healers.
Lucio/one of the Noibat, Whismur, or Tympole line - They're all based on sound, but I'm not sure what might be best.
Zenyatta - Meditite is all I've come up with, but I don't think the connection there is very strong.
Symmetra/Probopass or Mr. Mime - The Probopass I explained a bit earlier, but setting multiple mini noses in place of Symmetra's turrets is the idea. The Mr. Mime is because they are both about manipulating light.
And that is what I currently have. These are all sibject to change if people make strong enough arguments, and I'm not opposed to drawing more than one Pokémon as a character, as long as the connection between the two is interesting enough.

I probably should have realized it sooner, but I suppose I should've put the picture I had done up. Being nervous about whether my art was good missed the whole point. I had intended this to partially be about improving so that each one was hopefully better than the last.
Also, missing the poll options didn't help things any.
So, without any further stalling for time...

Like I said, not studio quality but hoping to improve. Also, if someone does end up leaving a comment, I will likely use their username (if I'm having trouble with names) as who got the play of the game. So, you all might expect to see Elyn sometime soon, if this does continue that is.
(The poll should read "Pokémon as Overwatch characters.")
