Alright. New trailer reveals seven new Pokemon, two of which are evolutions for Grubbin. Time to unleash your speculations. The new one that I like the most is Vikavolt, Grubbin's final evolution. It is Bug/Electric with Levitate and has an almost armoured vehicle appearance. The mandibles are large and spiked on the inside that would give the impression of being a good physical attacker. However the trailer showed it using what obviously is a special attack. This with the fact that its mandibles are lined up in parallel, made me instantly associate it with a rail gun; rail guns use electromagnetism to launch projectiles. I think that this is a solid design as are many of the other that are coming out this generation. Bruxish is what many people are going to wright off as looking somewhat garish and its typing being nothing impressive as it is a Water/Psychic, sharing it with the Slowpoke line as well as Starmie. However its ability is interesting as it prevents opponents from using priority moves. Its design combines an - one fun fact that should be noted is the trigger fish's, one of Bruxish's inspirations, name in Hawaiian is one of the longest words in the entire language. It is called Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa. There is also Togedemaru, the region's Pikachu clone. It is an Electric/Steel ball covered in folding spikes that it uses as a means to increase its likelihood of being hit by lightning. Its abilities are Iron Barbs and Lighting Rod. Its design likely incorporates aspects of porcupines, hedgehogs, and spiny rats. Edited by Nacho_Rocket, Jul 2 2016, 05:21 PM.

Vikavolt is a reference to the Vic Viper from Gradius. |

Vikavolt best Bug derp, regardless of exactly what it's based on. For ease of reference, will simply call it "railgun beetle," because reasons. |

Just found a cool post on Reddit explaining how the new Legendaries and starter pokemon all relate to alchemical symbolism for various elements. Link here. |

Welp, new mon revealed is not only a fire/poison type, but its ability lets it poison even steel and other poison types. And it looks like it may evolve. |

wonder if that ability allows steel types to be damaged by poison moves, or if it only negates immunity to the poison status effect? |

I mean, it'd make sense? Moves like Acid and Acid Spray should be able to damage Steel-types anyway... |

I think that Salandit is only able to apply the poison status. If you could use Poison-type moves on a Steel-type, Fire type moves would still be a better option. Though I can see where moves that lower combat stages would be useful as, in comparison to Fire-type moves, Poison has a good number of them. From I can tell from all the releases so far, all Alola Pokemon will have important niches to counteract common strategies. For example; since Bruxish's Dazzling ability prevents any priority moves from happening, this would completely shut down any Prankster abusers. Edited by Nacho_Rocket, Jul 7 2016, 06:51 PM.

Has anyone looked into the two new releases in CoroCoro. Not sure about the Normal/Fighting red panda, but Mimicyu is awesome. Mimicyu is a Ghost/Fairy type that hides underneath a cloth that makes it look like a Pikachu. It wears this cloth for two purposes; it is sensitive to sunlight and hides to avoid it. It also gets very lonely so it fashions the cloth to resemble an old Pikachu toy so that it can share some of Pikachu's popularity. Trying to remove the cloth to see what is underneath will cause Mimicyu to inflict a horrible sickness onto whoever does so. This just sounds so adorably sad that I think I absolutely need it. What makes this even better is that there is a good amount of fan art already, some showing it wearing cloths that look like other Pokemon. Spoiler: click to toggle
