Katei Town, while every bit as modern as Tabi Port, doesn't look quite so incongruous in its design and seems to have been designed to be as well-occupied as it is; the centre of the town is occupied by an odd-looking building that looks a little like a doughnut, which is obviously the main attraction of the town as almost everything else seems to have been built up around it. A Pokemon Centre stands just by the entrance to the forest, which cuts off in a neat line as if someone's come along and measured it with a ruler. When you arrive, it seems the rain has driven most people indoors, although there are a couple of young children and a Squirtle playing in one of the larger puddles. |

"Well, thing is, she used to be the second Gym leader on the route, which gave her a bit more freedom in how she could design her challenge," the aide explains. "But with the redesign of the League to account for you guys starting from Tabi Port instead of Shirogane Docks, the Gyms all got moved around in order, so now she's the first. She's made it pretty apparent that she thinks it's a personal attack on her or something. I'll show you guys on the map once you have your copies. Speaking of which..." As you approach the desk, the aide pauses for a moment and tries to pat his wet hair into some semblance of order, without any particular success, clearing his throat slightly. The young woman looks up at you, blowing a bubble of bubblegum for a moment or two. "Professor's busy. As usual." Her bored tone devolves into a bitter one for a moment. "Maps are in lab 3. Shrimpy knows the way." She gestures idly at the young man accompanying you, who blushes furiously. "I have told you my name, you know," he protests, but the woman has already picked up a magazine and started reading it again. "Like...a hundred times." Shaking his head, he moves past the desk and to one of the sets of doors, which swing open as he approaches. "Come on." |

Sibyl just looks confused at the explanation regarding Verdance. "Well it's not like it's our fault... Why take it out on us? We can't do anything about it..." She later barely suppresses a giggle upon hearing "Shrimpy". It was perfect. She realises she's never heard his actual name, but she doesn't ask: not like she'd ever use it now. She smiles impishly, saying, "Well, lead on, Shrimpy~!" If only she'd come up with it. |

"Well, when one has one's plans are disrupted by circumstances outside one's control, it can lead one to act somewhat... irrationally." Oscar replies, adjusting his hat, though whether that's out of discomfort from the topic or Isabella's threat is uncertain. "Still, I suppose it'll be our duty to prove her wrong. Or, failing that, simply overcome her." |

"Yeah, I can see it. I know I wouldn't be happy if I had the whole thing planned out and then somebody told me 'whoops, you're the first gym now, you have to redo everything because you need to be the easy challenge'." Isabella blows her wet hair out of her eyes with a huff. Once they're through the doors, she glances around. "Is it just me or did she sound kind of upset about the professor being busy?" |

Jeremy gives a non-committal shrug. "Kinda? If I had a boss I'd be cool with them being busy. Less pressure of them watching over you constantly, y'know?". He pauses, trying to remember something and drawing a blank, before tapping the Aide on his shoulder. "Hey man, what is your name?" |

Intuition DC7 "My name is Bernard," the aide replies to Jeremy - a little tersely, perhaps. "And...yeah, she's often annoyed about that. To be fair, Kat probably sees less of her m...the Professor," he hastily corrects himself "than I do. She has a reason to be upset about it." He leads you down a corridor before stopping at a door helpfully labelled 'Lab 3.' Which doesn't open when he pushes on it. "Oh, come on!" he complains. "Do you want me to tell Kat that you're messing with the labs again?" he asks, apparently directed at the door. After a moment, the door swings open - causing Bernard to stumble in and almost fall flat on his face. Perception DC14 "More trouble than it's worth..." he grumbles, picking himself up. The lab itself is pretty spartan, containing only a single computer and a table in the centre, on which sit a selection of chips. "Just, er, plug one of those into your Pokedex and let it download. And then take it out and put it back," he adds quickly. "We only have four." Edited by Llyarden, Jun 9 2016, 11:47 AM.

Isabella tries not to let her expression change when he figures out what the aid - okay, Bernard - was about to say. That... puts a different spin on things, yeah. Luckily something happens to lighten the mood a little, even if she also has to try not to laugh at Bernard stumbling - she can see something that's actually going on here, and even recognizes it. She pats a hand against the doorframe as she walks into the room and murmurs, very quietly, "Nice timing." Maps. Maps are good. Isabella plugs the chip into her Pokédex and watches the download impatiently. Spoiler: click to toggle

Sibyl notices not much of a reaction from Bernard; thats okay. She guesses he's probably heard it a thousand times already. At least she found it funny, and that was the main point. She simply turns away and quietly follows him down the corridor. She smirks briefly to herself at "Bernard's" mishap, before blithely walking in and plugging the chip in for the download. "Fascinating." Oscar says, eyeing the door carefully. "I wonder if that's a common practice." He mutters to himself - he could certainly see the benefits. Though also the downsides, he thinks as he watches Bernard dust himself off. After a moment, he shrugs and goes to download the map into his dex. While it downloads, he turns to the hapless assistant. "So, Mister Bernard," he says, the formality coming naturally to him, "do you have any pokemon of your own?" |

Jeremy barely notices Bernard's mood shift, but notice it he does, and he suddenly feels very uncomfortable. Maybe he'd mention it to Sibyl, who seems to be blissfully unaware of her faux pas, if it came up again later. He's so caught up in whether or not to lecture her - thereby reluctantly cementing his role as 'Team Dad' - that he completely misses Bernard's argument with the door and Isabella's whispered compliment. Instead he quietly shuffles around the grumbling aide to download the map. Spoiler: click to toggle
