Hi PTU! So my GM suggested this RPG to play on our game nights and may become our primary game soon. I admit at first I was just going along with the new system/skin to role play but after our Intro Session my inner child sparked to life again. So devouring the book I had a couple of questions involving the system I need help with.

- Skill bonuses from classes such as survivalist or Inclination (body). When making a skill roll that falls under the criteria do I calculate it as 4d6 base + 2d6 class bonus? Or is it 4d6 then add +2 for the class?

- While making my character, I went with the concept of "dynamic movement" for my pokemon and I. Looking over the rules after building and playing the character I realize the Evasion stat isn't that reliable of a defensive stat. Is there any other way to take advantage of my high SPD stat either through classes or edges?

- Does Evasion from multiple sources stack or exceed +6?(e.g. +6 from SPD and +3 from Duelist)

Just a quick explanation of my character. He is a Duelist/Survivalist(urban) that does parkour and highest skill is speed. So far his only pokemon is Torchic.

Hi! Glad you've been enjoying the game

- Skill Bonuses that add flat values simply add the flat value. So just +2, not +2d6.

- There's a few ways for Pokemon, but for Trainers it's tougher. For Pokemon - Electroball is amazing, and you may want to look at Leaf Rush, Maelstrom Pulse, Gale Wings, or Nimble Strikes from the February Playtest packet. I wouldn't underestimate that Speed Evasion or Initiative for general purposes though!

- Evasion from multiple sources does stack, BUT: Evasion from the Speed Stat caps out at +6, and Evasion from -all combined sources- caps out at +9. So yes, it'd be at +9 Evasion if you were getting +6 from Speed and +3 from Duelist.

Doxy covered all the mechanic bits, so I'll do some theorycrafting and try to point you in possible directions for you to use your Speed stat and advance your character concept.

Athlete makes great sense for a freerunner. Yes, it has a +HP tag, but the class is all about training the body and influences/uses multiple stats. Training Speed can give you extra sprinting ability and combat stages, among other benefits. Dancer could also be an interesting twist thematically. Tumbler gives you some cool moves like Aerial Ace and an extra turn as a free Scene action.
Since you will have high mobility and initiative, having access to status effects could be very useful. Musician is a nice class for this (charging in and using Sing or constantly displacing opponents with Hyper Voice from you and your pokemon is neat). Ninja and Provocateur are also worth mentioning.
Researcher also gives you some good non combat options. Pokemon Caretaking can give you some PokeEdges and help boost your Pokemon's acrobatics or athletics skills, and there are numerous crafting options in the class.

As a general rule, your high mobility and initiative will prove extremely helpful for applying status effects, intercepting for others, weaving through combat, and quickly assisting teammates. In standard 1v1 League battles, it'll help get Momentum rolling and give you the edge in commanding your pokemon. Out of combat, PARKOUR. Also races, travelling quicker in a pinch, etc., but the out of combat is lacking with just Duelist/Survivalist (you probably want some crafting ability or a social skill to help with that).

@Doxy: Thanks Doxy for clearing up my confusing involving mechanics and pointing out the test packets. Got some more reading to do. You mentioned 'Electroballs', were could I find that? I can't seem to find the stats.

@ShadowSoul: This is all really solid advice. The Tumbler seems to fit the theme the most. I'd like to get some of those status effects in there but I'm not sure how to incorporate into my super sporty build. It's kinda hard to decide on a outside of combat edge, which was the whole reason why I picked survivalist as well.

Electro Ball is a move, you probably didn't find it because you searched without the space. It's details can be found on page 357, or in the box below:
Electro Ball

Move: Electro Ball
Type: Electric
Frequency: Scene x2
AC: 2
Damage Base 6: 2d8+6 / 15
Class: Special
Range: 10, 1 Target
Effect: The user adds their Speed Stat, including
Combat Stages, in addition to their Special Attack when
determining the damage dealt by Electro Ball. The
Defender in turn subtracts both their Special Defense
and Speed Stats from the damage dealt before applying
Type Effectiveness.
Contest Type: Beauty
Contest Effect: Double Time

It can be learned by a large number of electric-type pokémon.

It doesn't help your speed stat in itself, but if you want to go for mobility, you might also look at Survivalist. Quite apart from giving you Naturewalk, a lot of the Terrain Talents improve your mobility. Plains Runner (Grasslands) boosts your Overland, Deep Diver (Ocean) makes your Swim equal to your Overland instead of half of it, Surefooted (Mountain) makes it harder to knock you off balance, and Traceur (Urban) boosts both your Jumps.
