So after messing around with my first character ideas yesterday, I don't think I have a good idea of how to approach this character. She's a field reporter, so obviously Chronicler works best and due to her personality and her inclinations, I'm going with Flying Ace, which would be useful for scouting around and finding information anyway. But beyond that, I'm not sure what to go for? I'd prefer if she were less Trainer Combat focused and more Pokemon support, but what that support would be, I'm not sure what's good or what's useful with Flying Ace out there.

Any ideas? Like what classes or what Pokemon to look for?

I'm going to focus on edges and skills more than class features because there really aren't many classes that would directly bolster the investigator type. Once you've got the edges you want to use, you can find classes that build on that.

There's always Hobbyist. It's a great class for bolstering the number of edges and features you have access to. it would synergize with your perception from Chronicler and and Flying Ace to let you do more with just raising that one skill. Capture Specialist is good for getting extra edges, plus tools of the trade can help you chase down a lead, be it pokemon or human. It's also great if party of your reporting is capturing wild pokemon as proof for your stories.

If you are okay with using supernatural classes then Oracle works well also while still focusing on strictly perception.

Moving away from the perception only field, there are classes like Survivalist, Backpacker, General Research Researcher. These classes offer more bonus edges, additional utility, and maneuverability. General Research in bonus edges to Edu skills which are useful for making sense of all the new information you are getting. Channeler and Telepath are also good supernatural choices for letting you raid the minds to get the hottest leads out there.

Charm, Guile, or Intimidate based classes might also be worth a look since those skills will help you pull information out of people that need a nudge in the right direction.

I'm sure there are more, but late nights make for forgetful brains.

I think Juggler tends to work well with Flying Types (teach them U-Turn!), and the 'Guile' skill would serve an investigator/reporter very well.

Chronicler is very passive and, like Mentor, can be fit pretty much anywhere, so I'm not gonna tell you how to make synergy with that work - except that the base Technique Album and Targeted Profiling give you easy sources of +Evade and +Accuracy (and Mold Breaker, which is always useful). Flying Ace has a number of nice things going for it: Gale Strike is effectively more Accuracy, Zephyr Shield provides a bunch of defense for a usually frail typing and opens up access to its big Set-Up moves, and Tornado Charge is ridiculous damage. There are a few easy ways to augment what Flying Ace gives you as a base.

Doxy's Juggler suggestion is great. Flying types have a really wide spread of types, moves, and abilities, so always being able to rotate in the right Pokemon for the job helps you keep up a constant assault - and Flying Ace is all about non-stop aggression. Keep in mind that Baton Pass transfers Strategems, so a Juggler/Flying Ace gets to keep Celerity up all the time via Tag In. If going Juggler, I'd recommend looking into Ace Trainer, Commander, or Task Master for more Strategems to stack and to allow flexible offense.

The other major route I'd look into is actually Duelist, which does not play well with Juggler RAW because Momentum is not Baton Pass'd. However, Duelist lets you stack Accuracy to the cap quite easy thanks to Chronicler and lets you mess with Gale Strike by setting on of the dice to 11 automatically. Being able to hit consistently means, yes, you get to use Tornado and Sky Attack much more reliably. And while those big chunky moves can't be used during Tornado Charge, each individual attack during Tornado Charge will add a Momentum stack, giving Flying Ace access to one of the quickly ways to hit the cap in the game. Duelist goes well with Ace Trainer or a Stat Ace of your choice (Attack, Special Attack, or Speed).

There are so many good flying type Pokemon that it's hard to recommend any of them over the others too much, as long as you keep your dual types spread out. It can be very easy to pick up too many normal/flying or bug/flying, and those are generally going to be the weakest of the bunch. Staraptor not withstanding.

Tumbler or Rouge can fit the theme and make your trainer better in a fight, while Hobbyist and Ace Trainer are always good choices for the indecisive trainer.

Juggler, as mentioned, fits the flying type well, since U-Turn is available on so many of them, and having a flock of birds to shoot at people is always funny.

Mentor, Chef, Sage, or Fashionista on top of Chronicler will pretty much guarantee that your Trainer never does anything cool again, and will probably make you into the party gimp. Whether or not you want this is your call.

Survivalist is a surprisingly fun and versatile class that can work well in a number of builds.

Combine Chronicler and Warper for a character that is always watching, and always remembering. Your friends will hear the sound of pencil on clipboard in their nightmares. A+ on creep factor!

I will never not recommend Hobbyist. The extra edges for your skills, emphasis on perception (especially through Dilettante!), and picking up a variety of bonus feats plus Skill Monkey all helps with your out of combat skill usage and works well with Chronicler/Flying Ace because of the Perception focus. I'd encourage you to read through it since there is a lot of nuance and options in the class.

Duelist or Juggler would work well as discussed by others. Oracle is a nice supernatural class for the investigative elements. Provocateur is a go-to socially-oriented class.

If you are using Game of Throhs, Wind Runner is a fun class. Levitate/Fly for a better angle? Wind manipulation to help carry sound? Flying type moves for combat? Also, Perception synergy.
