I like Survivalist a lot and want to give them some usefulness comes tournament time. Hence, terrain battle is actually an official tournament format in my game, with a veto(pick and ban) rules as well. A terrain gym is definitely doable as a test to a trainer's adaptability to the wild.

@Matanui3
I am definitely using Inverse Battle as a gym theme and being extra evil can be fun. Maybe I can do that if someone wants to challenge the "actual" gym team, which is the official team of the gym leader instead of the many watered down version to match the challenger's power level.

@MrApack
As a big TCG fan I definitely share that line of thinking, and my "draft a team" mode is exactly the same as you said. Well, not truly 100% the same but I am thinking a pool of 6 trainers bringing their own 6 Pokemon to add to the pool(so every player at least know their 6), randomly distributed into 6 sets of 6 and the trainers will draft them. First round, trainers pick 1 from the 6, pass the remaining 5 to the side, second round, trainers pick 1 from 5, and vice versa.

I also have an idea for roulette for a Vegas-based gym but I am still brainstorming on what to randomized there.
