Hello, I am planning an adventure for my players that revolves around a Swablu and an Elekid putting on a concert in a cave in the forest.
I have basically planned out how to introduce and how to end the adventure but I am unclear what to do in between.
I don't want this to be over in an hour.
What I have come up with so far is:
- They put on the concert in a cave and in exchange for other pokémon watching they take payment in food and equipment for the show.
- So some pokémon has started stealing food and tech stuff from the Town to pay Elekid and Swablu.
- Some of these Pokémon has been caught but the town has realised it doesn't stop so they start to worry what is really going on.
- The end encounter will be in two phases first off the ones watching the concert will be infatuated by the music and start attacking the players
Second phase will be against Swablu, Elekid and 2 speakers. Elekid can crank up the volume of the speakers to make a shock wave attack from the speakers.
This will be their first real boss fight so I tried to keep it pretty simple but still flavorful.
- Then one of the players will probably catch this Elekid since it is on his pokémon wishlist.

That is all I have come up with so far and I need something more in it.
I am up for some type of Dungeon Crawly stuff but don't have an idea for what to do with it.
Also up for some detective style adventuring, although last adventure was a little bit of this they seemed to like it. So it will probably be fine.
But up for a lot :)
Players are Level 2 with Pokémon in the late teens, if that is relevant :)

...honestly, I don't see why this needs to turn into a battle. Wouldn't it make more sense to let the Swablu and Elekid know that other Pokemon have been stealing to pay them, and let them decide what to do about it? It seems quite easy to negotiate some sort of compromise between the Pokemon and the town, especially if people decide they like the music as well.

Some crudely-drawn posters stuck up around the cave/forest might be a good clue. Or perhaps a trainer with more free-range Pokemon might mention that his Pokemon has been regularly disappearing at a certain time, and seems to not be eating as much, although all of the Pokemon's food is still gone.

That is some really nice stuff!

I'm still gonna have that battle prepared in case something goes wrong but I really like the peaceful solution ^^

You can easily hook the players in- passerby talking about the thefts, the Pokemon Center having a "Wanted- Information" poster about the incidents, etc. You can clue the players in by mentioning some odd attention grabbing items that were stolen- microphones, power inverters, speaker parts and the like. From there, your players have multiple options for the search, such as stealth (follow the thief!), diplomacy (please don't steal this, we give you stuff in exchange for leading us wherever), or intimidation (we will beat you down if you don't stop and lead us there). The search itself and the rest of the arc are pretty much a combination of railroading and responding to your players' actions in the context of your world. When it comes to a resolution, you could easily have the Elekid come along willingly, or perhaps one of the Elekid's friends. Apology fundraising concerts, jail, a slap on the wrist, whatever you want to be a resolution will work.
Hopefully this helps!
