Just a note, Command Actions are no longer a thing in PTU; a Pokemon using a move operates on their Standard Action. For the sake of balance though, all your released Pokemon collectively have one Standard with which only one can attack, no matter how many you have out. |

Just make sense. If you've trained your Pokemon to act in a certain way when not directly commanded, unless your Pokemon have low loyalty, only one course of action makes sense. |

for mechanical balance reasons, in combat, only one pokemon can act per trainer (barring the use of features such as Focused Command). It doesn't matter how well your pokemon are trained, they won't do anything if another one of your pokemon is already acting in the same round. |

Yeah, that's uh, the whole point of Focused Command, being able to have two of your Pokemon act per turn outside of Double Battles. In dire circumstances, the GM might take control of a spare Pokemon that's out and have it contribute, but that's the GM's doing, not you or your Trainer's, and it shouldn't be taken for granted. And I don't know if it's more for balance, or for headache saving. Having 12-24 Pokemon out on the PC's side in every combat would be a nightmare. |

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That is the universally agreed upon reason for only one Pokemon attack per turn. Yes, having your Pokemon out is ultimately the most efficient way to fight, in theory; but for the sake of balance, saving the GM from massive headache, and most importantly, NOT making every round of combat take 40 minutes, we have this rule. Of course, if you can convince your GM to let all your Pokemon attack at once, go for it! He'll probably use that against you in the future. Fighting a flash mob of 5 Team Rocket Grunts with 6 Koffing each sounds fun, doesn't it? Edited by BatiroAtrain, Feb 4 2016, 10:48 AM.

Yes, they would be GM controlled. Exactly. But with high Command, you could easily have them follow a battle plan. And as long as they are loyal, and the plan isn't stupidly dangerous, there's no reason for them not to follow it. Why wouldn't a Commander make a unit of free thinking soldiers? If anyone would, it'd be them. |

For these reasons:
Your GM might permit it, due to unfamiliarity or naivety, but if so they are going to regret it until they change their mind. Edited by Jacquerel, Feb 5 2016, 02:36 AM.

Letting the extras use Pack Hunt doesn't seem to be too abusive... or at least, my GM didn't seem to think so. |

moorg isn't talking about Pack Hunt. They're talking about having all their Pokemon move and attack in the same turn. The whole point of Pack Hunt is to get extra attacks from Pokemon that are not otherwise attacking, so no, triggering multiple Pack Hunts isn't abusing it. |

All of that is pretty irrelevant to be honest. They all apply to directly commanding a Pokemon. Also, mere grunts versed in methods of military unit training, and having that many Pokemon loyal enough to actually follow a battle plan, is not going to happen. They would be elites. And when multiple elites are targeting you specifically (because it would clearly not be a coincidence), you get out and lie low. |
