Help Me with my Hunter build

Hello

I'm working on a Hunter build to replace my dead character and would like some advice. My general plan is to have Teamwork whist riding a Pokemon with Pack Hunt, and having a second Pokemon with pack hunt who i will command from my mount. That way even if I do not give commands to my mount he is still helpful in increasing mobility and pack hunting anything I hit along with the second Pokemon with my teamwork buff.

I'm mostly running Hunter Features and I am dipping into Rider because I plan to fight mounted most of the time. However a lot of the rider features buff the mounts attacks and I don't plan to run a combat mount.

Hence I have leftover features and no idea what to use them on so I was wondering what other classes pair well with the Hunter. I'm very strapped for edges as I have a load of skill requirements to meet.

Also as I'm replacing a dead character I am picking my first 2 Pokemon and need a good mounted option that sits around lvl 20, preferably tanky and reasonably quick, it cant be a pseudo legendary. My current pick is ryhorn, but its slower than I would like.

Thanks in advance

What skills DO you have? Telling us that would be a massive help.

That being said, if you can nab it, Provocateur is borderline broken good. Quick Wit is the one you want to make a beeline for.

If you can't Rogue and/or Tumbler are both good ones. Rogue you SHOULD qualify for already, while Tumbler requires investing an Edge into Acrobat. But if you can spare it, go Tumbler over Rogue. (As a side note, if you DO go Rogue, getting range from Cutthroat is better than +1 DB. VASTLY better.)

I don't actually know how Run Away works with a mount, so you'd have to look into that yourself. But if YOUR Run Away takes precedence, have fun kiting mooks.

After using a high level NPC Provocateur I can agree with some investment that class can tear apart anyone with ease.

Skillwise with the exception of mounted prowess and Medic Training everything is invested into stealth, Survival, and Acrobatics. Although having checked the Features I could probably drop some ranks in acrobatics and get intimidate so I can use Provocatur

However I dont actually see what provocatur adds that makes it so dangerous?

Because you get to be Oprah Winfrey. Except instead of giving out cars, you give out debuffs.

In all seriousness, though, Provocateur has not one, but TWO absurdly good features. Quick Wit and Push Buttons. Quick Wit lets you use ANY Social Move (Read: Every Provocateur move) as a Swift Action 3x per scene. 9 times out of 10, you aren't using your Swift Action for anything. In addition, IIRC, Features don't have the same frequency limitation that moves do. You can use them on consecutive turns.

Second, Push Buttons. This feature means that a Provocateur move will hit, or you've just wasted a turn. And you can try again next turn with the move. Or even IMMEDIATELY with Quick Wit. Because the move is, effectively, treated as if it were never used.

Now, lets look at the moves Provocateur can give (Effects only. Because I'm lazy):
Sweet Kiss: Confusion. On a MISS(!) (AC 6 for this move, BTW) the target takes a -2 penalty to accuracy.
Taunt: Target is Enraged
Lovely Kiss: Target falls asleep
Torment: Target is Suppressed

These are all EXTREMELY nice debuffs. Sweet Kiss' on-miss effect is just icing. Get Push Buttons and a Blindfold and your party will love having that extra chance to avoid attacks.

Taunt is unique on this list, because excluding "prereq" moves, it's the only one with an EoT frequency. It's not relevant to anything. It's just an interesting little factoid.

Now, let's have a look at Powerful Motivator. Right off the bat, we see two things that are almost broken good. For starters, it's Static. These will happen regardless of you doing anything beyond using the move. Second, these don't care about whether you hit or miss. As long as you USE the move, you're golden. You're entering via Intimidate, yeah? So you'll have Leer.

Provocateur

Leer: The target is Slowed for 1 Full Round.

Did I forget to mention that Leer's a Cone 2? Somehow, that Ryhorn's looking better and better as a mount.

Powerful Motivator + Push Buttons = Oprah Debuff-rey.

The other two features are also good, but they're not AS good as the earlier features.

Something else, that's not actually relevant to you but is worth bringing up, you can get all this by TRAINER LEVEL THREE. Provocateur isn't "dangerous". It's friggin lethal.

Tanky and reasonably quick? Skarmory is pretty physically tanky, has a pretty good base speed stat, and has both Mountable 1 and sky speed 9. It also learns spikes to help you control the battlefield. Though the stereotypical mount is still Ponyta, which gets up to 10 overland when it evolves, and gets several mobility-themed abilities naturally.

Of course, I'm always a fan of mounts like Tropius, Onix, and Avalugg, which can carry your friends too, but these ones are typically less mobile. Although Onix is still Overland/Burrow 7 with Reach 3, so it's just a hilarious party mount.
