Hey guys, a friend of mine is starting up our first PTU game so I instantly got started on making a character. I downloaded the character sheet though and found it... lacklustre. I searched for several other versions, but most were fillable excel sheets or similar, which don't really work for my group (we're old school guys who like to fill in a sheet with pencil). As such, I decided to make my own sheet to fulfil my needs. I've gone through it several times to check that I have all the necessary information on it, but I'm no expert with PTU and could have easily missed something important so was hoping for a little help to ensure all the correct components are there. https://mega.nz/#!Hk5DnQTK!nr_7xAr8NDV8FzOXLM_dteVjaqzhIPbEMk0Xg2gB-Zw (1.29mb) If some people could let me know what they think and suggest improvements or corrections, I'm all ears. We don't start for another week, so I have plenty of time to make improvements. Some notes about the design. I felt that the second page of the sheet in the books was unnecessary. It was basically a design to allow someone to easily level a new character that wasn't starting at 1. As such I scrapped it and just kept the Equipment/Items section. The Features/Edges sections are not big enough for a high level character, but should be sufficient for a trainer up to around level 20 (so long as skill edges are kept together) Pages 2-4 are all Identical. This is because I have an A3 printer and can make a 'booklet' print to fit the trainer and his team of six all on one piece of paper. Most people would probably just print it double sided on two sheets of A4. I know having the pokemon all on the same paper as the trainer makes switching between pokemon in the box more difficult, but I assume most people would have a team and rarely change it, similar to the anime. It is kind of confortable. The PTU v1.05 sheets aren't bad, but this one fixes some issues that I have with it. Here's my "review" of the sheet, I will say that I like it and will congratulate you (and whoever worked on it) for it. ☺☺☺The Good☺☺☺ ☺ It does reduce the size of the sheet to 1 page, which is nice. ☺ It looks cleaner. ☺ It keeps inventory in one page, but the size is way too small to place important items, so I would use it only for consumables. ☺ Stats (and vital stats) are in a better spot, which makes them easier to find, even for new players. ☺ Good equipment section, finally :'D ☻☻☻The Bad☻☻☻ ☻ Even if the sheet is reduced to one (and you can keep track of stuff in separate sheets of paper), I think the second page of the corebook's character sheet is still useful, if the statblock was removed, the inventory enlarged, and a block of Stored Pokemon would be used. I know this would be too focused on a campaign where Pokemon Storage can be used, but there's the Contest Stats block, and there are games where it won't be even mentioned. ☻ No CS modifier. This is just me, but I kind of have a bad time keeping track of the +/-CS on my pokemon, I guess that's just my issue. ☻ There's no space for capabilities, which are important both on a trainer as on a Pokemon, that could be placed on the "notes" block, but the block could be used for other stuff, like conditions, features or else. In my opinion, adding another trainer sheet, and making the font a little smaller to add Capabilities could be awesome. Still, I like it, and I think I would be using your template for a while, if that's okay with you~ |

I'm very happy to hear you'd like to use the sheet, it makes me feel that my efforts weren't wasted. I'm also happy for the criticism. I've yet to play PTU (our first game is this Friday) so hearing from people with play experience can only make it better. I was curious about the inventory space, since the video games have a tendency to give you about 50,000 things. If it's anything like that, then a whole page would probably be more appropriate. Maybe a separate inventory sheet which is split in bag sections, similar to the game. Hadn't even considered combat stages, but already thinking of a way to fit it in. Capabilities and other things like Inheritance moves were what I left the notes section for because I assumed their impact was very minor, but if that's not the case I can try to squeeze some more space. I don't want to increase the Pokemon sheet to more than half a page though, so I may need to reduce the moves section. Reducing the text size is easily done. I left it quite large because I didn't want the space to be to small to write in, but after printing it out I know there's plenty of space what I can use. Thanks for the feedback, I'll get on to improving it as soon as I have some free time. Let me know if you find anything else that could do with a change. |
