"So you intend to barter your freedom for a sanctuary? A noble intention," Tsuru said. "But I see nothing from stopping your 'King' from simply ignoring your deal once he has you in his clutches. And if there are any other nobles as bloodthirsty as Terrakion...such as Vivian...then I doubt they would willingly honor any accord that is upheld."

Tsuru looked around the glade. "I will admit, you have crafted a paradise...but it would be a cage, if a gilded one. The moment anyone set foot beyond its borders they would be exterminated. Your abilities would be better served in direct opposition to this 'King' of yours rather than wasted as a hostage."

"What's more, I fail to see how you will make your return journey, once I have slain the Knight you intend to surrender to."

Shaymin smiled "The King has his pride he would never go back on his word." She said "For now please enter." She said beckoning Tsuru into her garden.

It was filled with plants of every kind some that didn't look as though they belong on this planet.

There were huts set up and people could be seen milling about looking rather happy.

"I do have a question for you...Why so much hatred?" She asked looking at Tsuru.

"I understand that may Nobles have cause a great deal of grief for humanity..But most of the Court is as ignorant as the average human." She said "They know nothing of the war beyond what the King has told them, and any who speak out to try and tell the truth are deemed traitors and are killed."

"I have met many of your 'Nobles' in my rather short life," Tsuru said. "The first I met as an infant, and it was He Who Gives Life that sew the seeds of my family's destruction. As a direct result of his actions, my family was murdered by the second Noble to cross paths with me. The Knight of the Verdant Forest. I would have died by his hand, but the former saw fit to save my life," Tsuru said.

"He then set my memories in a cage within my mind and left me to be raised as an orphan, but not before awakening in me powers for which I would be ostracized and shunned. Rather than try to atone for his failings in a meaningful way, he blinded himself and wallowed in self pity until I sought him out, over a decade later," Tsuru said, continuing with what amounted to his life story.

"Some time later I would encounter one of your Noble's aberrants, and I was killed by it, more or less," he said, lifting his shirt to reveal the scar and add credence to his tale before lowering his shirt. "Following that I encountered a number of other 'Nobles'. The first decieved me as long as she was able and use me as a tool in her shadow war. You would know her as your exiled Queen. The second abused the dreams of those he fought beside, toying with the emotions of his 'comrades', and likewise decieved me. You may know him as the Lord of Nightmares, though his true 'title' currently escapes my memory," he said, continuing his matter-of-fact detailing of the 'Nobles' he had encountered.

"Where was I? Ah, yes. The next notable encounter, an aberrant invaded the minds of myself and many others while we slept, planting psychic commands to kill. This led to the death of dozens, the woman being an unwilling vessel of destruction. The next, a bird with dominion over ice, whose name I never learned, led to the death of one of my comrades before my very eyes. Following that, I encountered Vivian, the Destroyer, to similar effect. That heralded the revelation that your 'King' was waging a war of extermination against my kind. Nevermind the numerous other aberrants and the atrocities they committed, the least of which was the destruction of my personal garden that I had tended from the earliest days of my youth," Tsuru said.

"I feel I have made my point clear, and need not go on with further details," he said, a sharp look in his eye. "Every Noble I have encountered, from the earliest days of my infancy, regardless of their intent, has brought nothing but death, destruction, deception and pain into my life. Currently, the two of you," he motioned to Shaymin and Keldeo with dark amusement, "are the only exceptions to this hard and fast rule that has governed my life. And that may well be simply a matter of time. You can see how this may have left me somewhat jaded when it comes to your kind."

"Tell me...How many humans have died at the hands of their own kind?" She asked waving her hand and making a large flower sprout, large enough for her to sit in.

"How many wars have been fought over imaginary borders, how many have died just for a few shiny rocks?" She asked "I do not defend the Court, they are unforgivable but I want you to acknowledge the sins that humans are also guilty of, and on a much greater scale."

"You have suffered some but how many have you truly seen die?" She asked "A dozen at most?"

"In my escape more than a thousand were killed by the court, A thousand lives all thrown away by chose in the hopes that I could save even a handful of the supposed enemy."

"I never once proposed that humanity was an unblemished race," Tsuru said. As Shaymin had grown a flower of her own to sit in for this philosophical debate, Tsuru responded in kind, growing up a bush for himself to lie back into.

"I recognize that man commits violence against man for a myriad of reasons. Terrakion had drawn such men around him, as an example, and I battled them as readily as I battled him. But your King chooses to exterminate us for no crime other than our continued existance. We have done no wrong to him. We do not possess something he desires. We simply are, and not by his will, and so we must die? Is that somehow a greater justification than an imaginary border or a shiny rock?"

"More to the point, why should I not respond to such aggression in kind? If your King would fight a war of extermination, then I will give him his war, even if I must fight it alone. There is no greater cause than to fight for one's right to exist. To live, in peace," he said.

"The King sees you much the same as you see the aberrants, Something twisted and wrong." She said "Do you know where your kind came from, why humans exist at all?" She asked.

"We of the Court have those answers, It is a part of our very being...But humans..Nothing at all is known about you. And it is natural to hate and fear the unknown...And with the deaths of so many worlds that have an unknown cause another mystery is another threat."

"I do not blame you for hating us, but what will is accomplish to hate those who have humanities best interest at heart?" She asked.

"Do parents not tell lies to sooth their children, Has a friend never harmed you a little to spare you some greater pain?"

She looked to Tsuru tenderly.

"And once the war is over, no matter how it ends what will you do with your life. If the Court completely falls and all the innocents perish would you be happy, Content with committing the same genocide that you fought against."

"Or should it end in peace between the Court and humanity where would you stand, Would you let go of your hatred or would you hold onto that bitterness?"

"If your 'innocents' took up arms against me, I would slay them without question, as with any other foe who raises a sword against me," Tsuru said flatly. "Ask yourself this: does your King know his own origins? You say you Nobles know your origins, and indeed you know your parentage...much like humans, but from whence did the first come? I suspect you know as little of yourselves as we do, in truth. An unanswerable question covered over with myths to make it sound sweet and pleasant to hear, and nothing more."

"As to what parents say to soothe their children, I would not know. I was robbed of mine," Tsuru said, giving Keldeo a brief and accusing glance. "The simple fact that we are having this discussion should assuage enough of your concerns, but I will humor you. I would not commit genocide on your kind if I could avoid it, but I would banish them from this world, never to return. There would be some exceptions, of course, but not for those who gave their silent assent to genocide."

He adjusted his seat on his bush. "If the war were to end at this very moment in an equitable peace, however one may determine that, I would be ill at ease. I would see those of your kind held accountable for the atrocities they have committed and commanded. If that meant that I must abandon my own kin to do so," he held up his palms, shrugging, "then so be it. Peace would sit ill with me every moment that Virizion continued to draw breath."

"Suffice it to say, however, that though I hold a great deal of hate and bitterness for your kind, I am not a murderer. Every one of your kind and your aberrants that I have slain has been justified and deserved, and I intend to keep it that way."

"You may have lost your parents but you were raised by one who loved you were you not?" She asked.

"And I agree that those who have committed crimes should be made to face the price of what they have done, But is death really the best answer?" She asked.

"It will not bring back those who were lost and it will only cause more pain...I would see them imprisoned much the same as that foul beast was so long ago. Sealed away and left with only their guilt for company."

"I was," Tsuru said, "and when they sought my aid with a task, I was not lied to."

Tsuru seemed amused by the prospect of imprisoning his every opponent. "Imprison my every opponent? A tall request, to be sure. Neglecting the necessity of manacles that shapeshift with those I have detained, I am no jailer, and I have no prison in which to keep them," Tsuru said.

"Practical concerns aside, why? What have those cretins done to deserve such mercy? Your little Hero suggested a trial, with sentencing by the families of the victims. Well, here I sit, the last survivor of Virizion's victims, and I sentence him to death. He showed no mercy to man, woman or infant child when he assailed my hometown. He is deserving of none, by my judgement," he said, sitting bolt upright to make his point before relaxing back into the bush that supported him.

"And pain...pain can be a useful tool in war," Tsuru said coldly. "It lends itself to reckless actions. These actions can be exploited," he said analytically. "And in a war for survival, I do not have the luxury of picking and choosing which tools I find most palatable."

"We have means of imprisonment that are quite effective, You have those pokeballs do you not?" She asked.

"And I do not think that a single individual has the right to claim domain over the life of another, All should have a say. There may be others who do not wish to see him die but to spend all eternity reflecting on his crimes...And though I know you would not agree." She said softly "I believe all can be redeemed."
