Tsuru grinned.

"Joke all you like, but you'll find your eternal rest soon. The next time your eyes close may be your last!," he said confidently, hurling a fistful of explosive seeds at Terrakion while Yozan launched his remaining stun spores at the bestial Knight.

The seeds burst against his hide to nearly no effect.

He then rushed in slamming the fighting fungus with his horn.

As the cloud of spores went up, Tsuru could see that Terrakion began to doze. This was his chance.

"Your arrogance was your undoing!," he shouted, drawing back his whip as Terrakion's consciousness faded and the beast slumped. "Die, now!,"

He brought his arm forward, the pointed tip of his whip gleaming in the light as it went straight into the beast's chest--right where the heart should be, by Tsuru's estimation. The lash went rigid for a time, more like a branch than a vine as it skewered Terrakion's heart. Tsuru held it there for a moment...waiting to be sure that the beast was dead...waiting for the death rattle before he dared withdraw his weapon.

The glowing orb was torn from his chest.

It shot into the air and exploded showering the area in glittering dust that faded in seconds.

From miles away an anguished scream rang out and Tsuru's whip seemed to quiver.

A set of collectors appeared and began to surround the corpse.

Tsuru flinched at the noise...evidently the other Knight, his target, had seen what amounted to the 'beacon' of Terrakion's death.

Tsuru quickly recalled the downed Yozan. The Breloom had performed admirably. More than admirably. It had fought toe to toe with a self-styled god and helped to bring him victory.

"Yoko," he said, calling to the fox curtly. Tsuru had no desire to engage the other Knight just now. He was wounded, entirely from the backlash of his newfound abilities, and his enemy would be enraged. No, now was the time to make good his escape.

Yoko joined him by his side, and Tsuru turned to address the Collectors. "The first of many, and I will permit you to take this one's carcass. With my newfound powers they will all fall," he pledged, holding his left hand high and clenching it in a fist.

With that he left. This mountain was not safe. He needed to collect the Blind Healer and return to the town below. They would want to know precisely what that beacon would herald. Their immediate enemy was dead...but another may be coming soon.

Valérian was resting at the base his blindfold was stained with tears.

"I know he had to die...But still he was my brother." He said putting his hands in his hands.

"His death was far better than he deserved," Tsuru said. "It was quick and clean. I struck him while he slept. I did not prolong his suffering, as you requested," he said. "But this mountain is not safe. The Knight of the Verdant Forest is only miles away and no-doubt saw that beacon. We must return to the village below--to warn them of their peril and prepare. There will be time to grieve later."

Valérian nodded "Yes...Virizion will not let his brother's death go unavenged, Out of the three he is the only one who actually cared for the others."

"So I was told, and he is the one I am truly after," Tsuru said as they made their descent. "He will come to learn the fate of his brother, no doubt, and I suspect he will turn his wrath upon the villagers. We must warn them. I need only a few hours rest to recover. By tomorrow I will be ready to face him," Tsuru went on.

"I must confess, I had not anticipated that he would be so close...I thought I would have more time...," he said, his voice hurried.

"Evidently the Knight of Verdant Forests is out hunting for, as Terrakion put it, their 'run away brother'. He claimed that this 'brat' had run off with 'the Maiden' and destroyed much of 'the Doctor's' laboratory. Do you know who he might have been referring to?," Tsuru asked, not slowing his pace.

"Keldeo, The Young Foolish Hero, he was born to be one of the knights. But he fell in love with The Maiden Of Lush Fields. She desired to protect this world and they fled betraying the whole court. They would be useful allies to you."
