For example: one of my favorite combinations I'd like to try out someday is Type Ace (Fire), dipping enough for Incandescence, Duelist, dipping enough for Expend Momentum, both the Tutoring feature and the Work Up edge, and finally any one of the number of Fire Pokemon that can learn Work Up as a Tutor move. How it would work is that after your Fire Pokemon gains momentum at the end of each round, spend that single point to constantly refresh the Work Up you tutor to them (and that they should be using unless somehow suppressed). Then, once you feel comfortable, go for a mix of Physical and Special damage powered by both Atk and SpAtk. Anyhow enough about that: what combination of classes, features, and edges do you enjoy? |

This was just getting discussed on Skype - a Trickster with Provocateur, Hex Maniac, or both. You can slap statuses onto the enemy, and then your Pokémon hits them to trigger Stacked Deck and make them worse. Make curses and burns even deadlier! Literally make your enemy so angry they can't shoot straight! Probably works with anyone who can apply statuses (Ninja, Miasmic, Fire Bringer), but Provocateur and Hex Maniac are the ones that excel at it. |

Going all in on being a skill monkey is quite fun in my opinion. Pick up Hobbyist and Researcher immediately (General field and whatever you feel like), grab Breadth of Research for the bonus Knowledge edges, and Dilettante to pick up Skill Monkey and Let Me Help You With That along with things like Instruction or Dynamism. Now you get benefits from your Gen Ed, can reroll skill checks for you and your team, assist teammates using your Gen Ed, and can use almost every skill at least competently. Then there is still room for classes like Ace Trainer, Musician, or Cheerleader to improve combat capability and further assist teammates. |

One of the players in my current game is looking at going Psychic Ace, and using Psionic Sponge and Move Sync to allow all her Psychic types to fire a retyped Hydro Cannon (or perhaps something more devastating? Suggestions?). Not something that really shifts the balance during regular gameplay, but our GM is very into big cinematic boss battles and having a multi-attack like that will both please and horrify him greatly. As for me, I'm getting a kick out of Hobbyist. Free skill edges to start, what amounts to free edges using Dilettante, and the ability to nip into another class like Capture Specialist or Coordinator and snag some of their best features via Look and Learn. I'm also trying to put together a new build based around Flying Ace - eventually comboing Tornado Charge, Strike Again, and Round Trip to get a sweeper in, do four attacks, and back out in one round. What's really going to shift this build is pumping up Guile, taking Dynamism and Leader. Combine that with a Quick Claw and I should be able to use After You to get even my slow sweepers a chance to hit first. |

For some reason it seems to me like Taskmaster and Fighting Ace go really well together, especially with Attack Ace to fill out the other side of the (perceived) catch-22. Toss out a Hardened Fight-type, pick an opponent, and lock him into a sadist's choice of either going after someone else and getting hurt even more, or attacking your Pokémon and making it even better at hurting things. |

I can't even look at Taskmaster as a class. Injure my pokemon? Nope. Nope nope nope. It's silly but that class is just unpalatable for me |

I'm actually fond of the Taskmaster class (especially if you reskin it as something like the sensei from Kill Bill 2: lessons must be learned the hard way, etc.), but to make the most of the class you need the 'Press' feature, which is neither League-Sanctioned nor Loyalty-Safe, making it difficult to use outside of certain campaigns and scenarios. For a Taskmaster build though, I like the idea of Fighting Ace/Duelist singling out an opponent. |

I had a build that was taskmaster (or whatever it was called at the time) and medic (or whatever its called now). It wasnt that he enjoyed hurting his pokemon, but that he honestly thought that was the best way to make use of them. He was also a medic, so he could treat the wounds after the fact. Also, in more of a mystery dungeon game, I was considering a Berserker/Taskmaster, with Gm permission to use Taskmaster's abilities on myself. |

That sounds like it could get super busted, but really fun from a RP perspective. It'd work well on a trainer too, as as you teach your Pokemon to become determined juggernauts. I'd really like to try out Rune Master/Arcanist for the attack manipulation shenanigans. Edited by Moriya, Jan 15 2016, 04:07 PM.

Steelheart and Fortress from Game of Throhs combined with Steel Ace and Enduring Soul or Roughneck. Wield an Aegislash and wear armor. You are now THE WALL. |
