The path through the - admittedly quite light - forest is either extremely well-maintained or extremely new. In places, there are what appear to be Pokemon trails that have forged paths into the forested area. A few Pokemon call in the distance, though none are immediately visible. OOC

The path winds a short distance, having presumably been unintentionally constructed over a period of time by browsing Pokemon, before a bush separates the path and a clearing, which seems to contain a number of other Pokemon. The Deerling, struggling a little through the bush, tumbles out and more or less does a faceplant on the ground in the clearing, causing the other Pokemon to look over. Some of them immediately scamper away into the undergrowth along other paths, but a few stick around, looking at the encroaching Trainers with in most cases curiosity, though a Zigzagoon in the corner of the clearing bristles at the intrusion. Map ((No combat necessarily as yet, this is just for reference. Dark green areas are Rough and Slow Terrain.)) |

AbbeyAbbey moves to the very edge of the treeline and leans down to make herself seem less threatening. "Don't worry," she says, holding out her hand to try and soothe the disgruntled Zigzagoon. "We're new here and just wanted to look around." Mechanics Trainer Pokémon

The Zigzagoon lets out a little growl as Abbey approaches, fluffing up its fur. It seems her words have fallen on deaf ears somewhat. On the plus side, it also doesn't immediately attack. The other Pokemon in the clearing seem to mostly be looking towards the raccoon; it appears that it is the de facto leader of the remaining group of Pokemon. Except for the Deerling, who trots a couple of paces towards Abbey, snuffling at her hand curiously. |

Isabella takes a step or two forward into the clearing, backing up Abbey. "She's right, we're really just exploring. We're not looking for trouble; we were just curious." She kneels down to be more on the Pokémon's level, trying not to make herself look threatening. She finds herself thinking very hard, We're not a threat, you're safe with us. It's a bit superstitious, but she's had success connecting with Pokémon before when she focuses on the feelings she wants to convey. It might or might not be a coincidence. Mechanics

As Abbey and Isabella calm the Zigzagoon down, Sibyl steps in and leans down towards the Deerling, trying her own luck with the wild Pokemon. She lets the others take care of the Zigzagoon for now, she doesn't want it to think they're crowding it. She reaches down gingerly to try and pat the Deerling, saying quietly, "Nice Deerling, aren't you a cute one..." Skill Test if needed

Jeremy watched as the girls all do their thing, which is a thing he's never even considered possible. Talking with wild Pokémon? That sounded like something he'd read in his old bedtime stories. "What about when they want one to join their team?" He thought, "Establishing a connection will just make weakening it harder, won't it?" He cast the thought from his mind as he looked at the Pokémon the girls weren't already talking with: A Pidgey, a Seedot, and a Pokémon he didn't recognise. He dismissed the last one as the first two both had something to offer him. "Well, I am looking for a flying type," he wondered, "But, Seedots evolve into Shiftry's, which are badass. And Pidgeys are a dime-a-dozen anyway." "Dibs on the Seedot." Jeremy whispered to the girls before he crouched and moved slowly towards the small chestnut-coloured Pokémon. He decided to at least attempt what he'd seen the girls do. "Hey, uh, buddy. No need to panic." Jeremy started, holding his arm out and his voice unsure. "We're just new in town and got a little lost, is all. We don't want to hurt ya." He felt a twinge of guilt as he said this, thinking back to when he would say the exact same thing to Pokémon he was trying to steal. Actions

The Zigzagoon gives something of a huff, but relaxes a little as Isabella talks to it, eyeing the others still a little suspiciously but with less hostility at this point. The Deerling, meanwhile, quite happily nuzzles into Sibyl's hand, letting her pet it. Jeremy, unfortunately, has less luck with the Seedot, which hops away a few paces as he approaches it and gives him something of a scowl. |

Isabella smiles as the Zigzagoon relaxes. "There you go," she murmurs soothingly. "We didn't mean to barge in, we just didn't know what was down here. We're exploring." She glances up at Abbey. "How normal is it for a bunch of different Pokémon to group up like this? I, uh, never got out in the wild much at home," she admits sheepishly. |

After the success with the Deerling, Sibyl feels a bit more confident engaging with the Pokemon. She looks up at each Pokemon in the clearing, adding, "That's right: we're just here to look around," as she scratches the Deerling's neck affectionately. She then turns to Miriam and gestures towards the Deerling, suggesting to her, "Why don't you say hi to our friend here? But play nice, OK?" |

Pkmn Ed DC7 Miriam, with what looks like a little bit of a pout at her Trainer's order to play nice, floats down and closer to the Deerling - causing the skittish little creature to immediately give an alarmed cry and shake itself, its fur changing colour to the same green as the grass that it stands on. Apparently some sort of defence reflex. At a casual glance, you might not even notice it - but for its big, round eyes staring at the ghost. Miriam gives what sounds very much like an exasperated "Mis!" Edited by Llyarden, Nov 14 2015, 10:53 AM.
