Tabi Port has obviously modernised recently. Small cottages and equally-small shops are dwarfed by the new constructions; the Tabi Hotel, and the nearby Pokemon Centre. Occupying what clearly is usually the village green is a large marquee, a large banner attached to the top reading 'Honi's First League Trainers, departing at 10am!' A big, bulky man stands outside the entrance to the marquee, checking IDs and only permitting the prospective trainers in; kids of various ages are emerging from the hotel at irregular intervals and being allowed in, often watched by tearful friends and family. The mood is overall quite festive, with all manner of souvenirs being hawked by the entrepenurial villagers. It is now 9:50, and the last boat expected to arrive has just pulled into the docks, bringing with it the last few soon-to-be Trainers, who are now disembarking onto dry land. You are all amongst these Trainers. What do you do now? |

The process of 'trading' your Pokemon is over fairly swiftly, and some twenty seconds later the four of you have your Pokemon now officially registered to you (and showing up on your Pokedex, for those of you that check.) Apparently the process of synchronising your Pokedexes was done in some part of the same process, because if you check your contacts list you find the other three already registered - along with Professor Willow, apparently. "So, you guys have all your starter gear...and you have your Pokemon...and I've said all the things I needed to say...I think that's everything! Best of luck, guys!" The assistant gives a broad grin and pulls open the exit to the marquee...to be greeted by a camera flash. Once the flash dies away, you find yourselves confronted by a lady with a microphone and a man with a camera. "We are live with Honi Today and the first four Trainers have just emerged to begin their Pokemon journey! Bridget Casey, Honi Today," the woman introduces herself, "and how are you guys feeling about your Pokemon journey? Do you plan to challenge the League, or are Contests more your thing? What sort of Pokemon are you going to try to capture?" She pauses for a moment in her barrage of questions to brush a stray strand of hair out of her eyes. The assistant, it might be noted, has rather prudently retreated to the other side of the marquee, while in the background Professor Willow's magnified voice can be heard, presumably calling for the next set of four Trainers. |

AbbeyAbbey was reviewing the data in the Pokedex as she stepped beyond the curtain, crying out in surprise at the sudden media ambush. It shouldn't be that surprising, given their position, but it still takes her aback. You can positively see the steam rising from her head as her face takes on a familiar shade of scarlet. However, she manages to keep herself from hiding behind her sketch book this time, and instead gives a somewhat forced smile as she stammers out responses. "Eh?! Ah, um, well... I-I'm really excited... a-about the chance to make lots of friends, both people and Pokemon. A-and to catch as many Pokemon as I can, to learn as much as I can. I'm, um, challenging the league, I guess?" she says hesitantly. "I'm really just... t-trying to learn, you know? But sometimes you have to be... s-strong enough to go to places the Pokemon are, so..." she continues, hoping her explanation makes sense. "I... I want to see some contests too, but I don't think I'd be... good enough... to do something like that." Especially if her current nervousness in front of the camera was any indication. After running out of things to say she glances worriedly at the other trainers in her group as if begging them to say something and rescue her from the spotlight. Trainer Pokémon

Jeremy was toying around with the Pokédex, checking out its features and looking at his new partners in his contact list so that he could remember which face went with what name. While he was distracted, the world went crazy and suddenly bright lights and loud chatter erupted all around him. Jeremy froze, the phrase 'deerling-in-a-headlight' never having been more applicable than in that moment. He panicked! He hadn't considered the media coverage that would come with this honour. He definitely didn't want his image, and subsequently his location, being broadcast to the people of the world. He was reaching for the drawstrings on his hoodie when he saw the distressed face of the bespectacled girl; Abigail, according to his contacts list. He didn't hear what she said but the look on her face screamed "save me!" Jeremy pulled his hood down and took a calming breath, then stepped into frame and leaned into the microphone. "Well, I'm not much of a contest person myself, at least not competitively. But I'm curious to see what they're like over here so I'm sure I'll go see one or two while I'm here. As for gym leaders, I'm definitely going to challenge 'em. Who knows? Maybe I can be one myself someday, eh?" He flashed a smile and, satisfied that he'd not made a fool of himself, stepped away from the mic to open it up for one of the others to chime in. Edited by Umby, Sep 26 2015, 05:07 AM.

Sibyl was likewise messing with her Pokedex when the interview crew attacked, causing her to look up startled, having not thought about this (though she realises she probably should have). While the others stepped up to talk to the camera crew, Sibyl could only stand and look around nervously, Pokedex forgotten and resting in her hand, clearly a bit perturbed about speaking to the media, especially by surprise. Oh get a grip, Sibyl thinks to herself. The rest are going along with it, even the shy one! Its only a damn camera! She steps forward as Jeremy steps back, takes a moment to gather herself, and speaks freely. "Well, um, I guess we'll challenge the League - that would be first on the list for me anyway, and it seems my friends agree. As for contests and everything else, well, it wouldn't do to just ignore them either. I'm here to experience something new, so I think we should do as much as we can." "With Pokemon, well, I'd take them as they come - whatever strikes the fancy, say Ghosts, which is a big part of what I like." Sibyl nods to the interviewer politely and steps away for the last to speak, exhaling sharply as she does. Edited by Zhuravlik, Sep 26 2015, 07:04 AM.

Given that Isabella's been slightly more exposed to the media blitz surrounding the new trainers-to-be, having been here a day already, she's a little more prepared than the rest when they're suddenly pushed on camera. She grins confidently and tosses her new Pokéball up and down in her hand. "Who said anything about 'or'? I'm going to do both! I can promise you're going to see me at the Grand Festival and Victory Island. And as for Pokémon..." She catches the ball one last time and presses the button, releasing the Hoothoot inside into the air. She gives a passable impression of a falconer's whistle and raises her arm, inviting her new Pokémon to land there - it's a trick she's seen her mother do. Of course, this would be the perfect moment for it to embarrass her by not obeying, too. "I have a soft spot for bird Pokémon." Roll

Casey nods along to everyone's statements, moving the microphone between you as appropriate. The Hoothoot, when called out, seems rather startled by the media attention, but manages to recover herself quickly enough to flutter down and perch on Isabella's arm. "Quite a display for a new Trainer!" Casey praises. "I'm sure we'll be seeing great things from you." Apparently dismissing the four of you at this point, she turns on her heel and strides off towards one of the streets, talking over her shoulder to the cameraman, who follows after her a couple of paces behind. "And in other news, we've been hearing rumours that Team Kontari have been seen in the Yami Forests. We'll be joined later by Chief Padmir of the Rangers, who we believe intends..." Now, with no more media ambushes, you are well and truly free to do what you want. Edited by Llyarden, Sep 27 2015, 04:07 AM.

Jeremy stepped forward and turned to face his new companions. "Hey guys. Or...gals, I guess. My name's Jeremy, but you probably figured that by the name Jeremy being called out and me being the only guy. So...I'm Jeremy." He was nodding as he talked, something he'd always done when he was trying to get comfortable with a new situation; the rhythm of the bobbing allowed him to find a stride he could hit when talking. "I'm guessing we'll want to get away from the tent, but after that I don't really have a plan or anything. I've done a little bit of reading about Honi but I ain't really in any rush to go anywhere in particular. So if any of you've got a burning desire to go to a Gym first or a contest place or go hunting for Pokémon or whatever, then that's cool. Who wants to take the wheel?" |

Isabella reaches up and scritches the back of Chouette's head gently, as far as she can tell on such a round Pokémon. "Good girl," she murmurs once the reporter has moved on - she'd been afraid for a moment it wouldn't work. "I think I'll call you Chouette. It's a nice name for a smart girl like you." With that particularly nice confidence boost, she grins as she turns back to address the others. "The name's Isabella. I wasn't kidding about doing both Gyms and Contests, by the way. I've got a date on Victory Island, but we've got a long way to go before that. As for where we're going, there's only one road out of town, isn't there?" She nods in the direction of the north road. Probably she ought to actually remember the name of the town to the north, but really she doesn't care much. "Oh, almost forgot. I've got a bozo with a big mouth to take down a peg or three. Just gotta wait for him to drag his expensive pants out here." Edited by carnackiArdent, Sep 26 2015, 08:34 PM.

Sibyl grins in amused agreement with Isabella, "Confident aren't we? I like it. We're all getting there right?" responding to Isabella's remarks of 'having a date on Victory Island' and about her earlier challenge. She then turns to face everyone to introduce herself, "I'm Sibyl - or Sibbie, if you'd prefer. Good to be with you guys - let's show them all how its done eh?", smiling and nodding to everyone in greeting. "About where to go, yeah, we'll head out there, see what shows up. But later: this battle we gotta see," she says, looking sideways at Isabella. "Maybe we can find one ourselves, too. Possibly even a friendly one." As she finishes talking, she happens to rest her eyes on Chouette, the newly named Hoothoot, and her face lights up as though remembering something. "Oh yeah, lemme check mine out, too," she says while getting ready to activate her Pokeball. "Come on!", she says excitedly as she releases the Misdreavus. Edited by Zhuravlik, Sep 27 2015, 12:00 AM.

The Misdreavus appears and floats around Sibyl in a circle as if inspecting her, before darting forwards and trying to tickle her under the chin with something of a giggle. Chouette, meanwhile, preens at the praise, seeming quite satisfied with her current state in life and displaying no inclination to move off of Isabella's arm. |
