Tabi Port has obviously modernised recently. Small cottages and equally-small shops are dwarfed by the new constructions; the Tabi Hotel, and the nearby Pokemon Centre.

Occupying what clearly is usually the village green is a large marquee, a large banner attached to the top reading 'Honi's First League Trainers, departing at 10am!' A big, bulky man stands outside the entrance to the marquee, checking IDs and only permitting the prospective trainers in; kids of various ages are emerging from the hotel at irregular intervals and being allowed in, often watched by tearful friends and family.

The mood is overall quite festive, with all manner of souvenirs being hawked by the entrepenurial villagers. It is now 9:50, and the last boat expected to arrive has just pulled into the docks, bringing with it the last few soon-to-be Trainers, who are now disembarking onto dry land.

You are all amongst these Trainers. What do you do now?

Sibyl nods appreciatively as she gets a better look at the drawing. "Wow, pretty good. You make it look even more exciting!" she enthuses. She then adds, "Don't think I could get much more than stick figures myself. You should show Jeremy too!"

"Eh? I mean... it's not something I really want to... show off or anything..." Abbey replies, hugging the sketch pad to her chest as if suddenly afraid to show it to anyone. "I-It's just a hobby... to help me study things." And now she is going to officially be the dork of the group, if she didn't have the honor already. She might not know much about social interactions, but she knows that loving studying and learning as much as she does isn't generally smiled upon by those her age.

Jeremy flinches ever-so-slightly when Isabella reaches up to ruffle his hair, catching himself when he realises what she's doing. He allows her the satisfaction of touching his delightfully wiry, yet springy, hair; making an exaggerated faux-pout as it happens. "Okay, just this one time." He says, suspecting that there will be many more times.

"Y'know," He continues, "I admit I don't know the first thing about contests, but since this is supposed to some crazy new adventure full of new things, I don't see a problem with throwing my hat into the ring. That's how contests work, right? You pick a fancy hat, throw it into a ring, then your Pokémon dances round it while people cheer?" He chuckles to himself as he imagines Ellis busting moves around a bowler hat. "Okay, so I might need some teaching first, if you feel up to it."

Isabella has to laugh at that. Okay, it's a rather undignified giggle that verges on a snort at least once. "No, but you can get him a hat if you want! That's why I had those glasses I gave Chouette - the right accessory can make all the difference sometimes. I wouldn't mind teaching you, if you want. I was in a couple amateur contests back home. Not to brag, but I was pretty awesome."

That's totally bragging, Isabella.

"It's not that hard to understand, really. Only real trick is you have to pick the right moves to use, and it's not always the same as the best moves in a battle."

Nina, who had up until this moment been talking quietly with Zai and Douglas, bounces - cheerful as ever - over to Abbey and Sibyl, speaking loudly enough that Jeremy and Isabella can hear as well. "I still can't pronounce her name, but the girl with the magic plant bracelet sent us a...text? Email? I don't know what it's meant to be called, but anyway she sent us one of them. She said she wanted to explore a few hours' walk outside the town, so we thought we'd better go and catch up with her before anything jumps out at her. Maybe we'll see you around?" She looks back over to Douglas, who is standing by the door, Zai having apparently left already. "Oh, I better go. Byee!"

With the three of them gone, that leaves the occupants of the Pokemon Centre to be the four of you, the (still stern-looking) nurse and her Chansey manning the counter, the woman reporter, who is talking frantically on the phone to - by the sounds of it - her editor, a rather portly man drinking a cup of tea and reading a magazine, and a figure in a hooded top sitting in the corner of the room, hood pulled up enough to hide their features.

Sibyl shrugs with an almost disappointed expression. "Well, suit yourself I guess," she says without really meaning it. It really was a shame Abbey's drawings could go unnoticed: they really were quite good. Maybe she'd be more comfortable later on, Sibyl reasons, and doesn't push the point further, opting to remain quiet until Nina 'bounces' on over.

She looks up at Nina and waves in farewell to her with a quick, "See ya", as she leaves. She looks at Jeremy and Isabella next, raising her voice to say, "Oi, time to get moving too? What're you two muttering about over there anyway?"

Isabella waves in the direction of their erstwhile rivals as they leave. She has to wonder what 'magic plant bracelet' means, though; she's not sure whether to assume the tall girl has some sort of supernatural power of her own or whether Nina misunderstood something about a perfectly ordinary plant.

She shrugs as Sybil comes over. "I was just saying Jeremy oughta consider going for contests. He had some pretty great timing showing off with Ellis earlier." She catches sight of the person with the hood and cocks her head curiously. She's a naturally nosy person, so it's not really surprising that they catch her interest; she squints at the figure, trying to see if she can discern anything about them.

Jeremy notices Isabella peering at the hooded figure, and tries to glance at him in a more subtle manner. He's wary of mysterious figures, since he knows all too well that more often than not if you're trying to obscure your face, you've got an agenda. Despite this, he shakes it off as nerves about being somewhere new.

"What's up? You know this guy?" Jeremy almost whispers to Isabella.

Isabella keeps her voice low, trying not to look like she's looking at the watcher. "No idea. Looks like they're watching us, don't know why. Probably eighteen-ish. I just said something funny, so laugh."

She fakes a chuckle of her own. She pulled that trick out of a detective novel. It's actually a little exciting, even if it should be scary. Sure, it's not surprising that someone would be looking at them - they're the most interesting thing going in the center right now - but the fact that they're working at being unobtrusive at least seems like a hint that they're up to something.
