Tabi Port; The beginning of a grand adventure...

Tabi Port has obviously modernised recently. Small cottages and equally-small shops are dwarfed by the new constructions; the Tabi Hotel, and the nearby Pokemon Centre.

Occupying what clearly is usually the village green is a large marquee, a large banner attached to the top reading 'Honi's First League Trainers, departing at 10am!' A big, bulky man stands outside the entrance to the marquee, checking IDs and only permitting the prospective trainers in; kids of various ages are emerging from the hotel at irregular intervals and being allowed in, often watched by tearful friends and family.

The mood is overall quite festive, with all manner of souvenirs being hawked by the entrepenurial villagers. It is now 9:50, and the last boat expected to arrive has just pulled into the docks, bringing with it the last few soon-to-be Trainers, who are now disembarking onto dry land.

You are all amongst these Trainers. What do you do now?

Sibyl simply nods once in acknowledgement of hearing Douglas, amused at the rather reasonable statement from him.

“Oh, good call. One sec…” she then replies to Nina, as she takes out her own Pokedex and opens up the contacts list herself as Jeremy explains it to Nina.

Abbey takes the money and doles it out appropriately, not noticing the hint of annoyance in Jeremy's voice.

"Oh, could you show me too?" she asks Jeremy, opening up her Pokedex along with everyone else. She had done a short inspection of it earlier, but her excitement over interacting with her Pokemon for the first time had cut that short before she had had a chance to fully bring herself up to speed on the device.

"Here, like this." Isabella wasn't actually paying that much more attention to the initial spiel, but she's actually pretty good at absorbing things even without paying much attention. Or just at eavesdropping while Jeremy explains it again. She flips her own Pokédex open to show Abbey where the button is. "I hope it's this easy to swap contacts with people using regular phones instead of Pokédexes."

The swapping of contact numbers goes without much incident, and soon the seven of you (the tall girl still having not made a reappearance) are in the Pokemon Centre. The nurse gives what could reasonably be described as a stern gaze when you enter, though she doesn't say anything until your Pokemon have all been handed over. "Well, I'm glad the League thought to pay for a turbocharged healing machine here," she remarks acerbically. "Elsewhere this would take a lot longer, but I would not encourage you putting your Pokemon through a machine like this repeatedly. It's only here to cater for Trainers whose first instincts are to challenge each other to battles." Her assistant Chansey folds its arms as far across its chest as they go and gives its own attempt at a stern look, although it ends up with something more of a disappointed look than a stern one.

About two minutes later, nonetheless, you all have your Pokemon back at full health.

Abbey looks properly chastised at the reprimands, even Chansey's, but she can't help but think in the back of her mind, Isn't this what Pokemon Centers are supposed to be for? Maybe they're just on edge because of the number of trainers coming through today. What with it being the first day of new trainers starting out and all.

Not sure entirely what to do at this point, from a socializing standpoint, Abbey finds a seat and begins to reproduce the sights from their recent battle onto one of her sketch pads.

Sibyl looks somewhat sheepishly at the nurse and the Chansey, but thinks nonetheless, ‘Well, it’s your job isn’t it? Pokemon get knocked around, so isn’t that what you’re here for?’ She doesn't worry about it too much, maybe they're having a bad day. Demand would probably be higher on such a day as this.

Sibyl then walks over to Abbey, leaning in slightly to look over her shoulder at her sketchpad. “What’cha doing? You drawing?” she asks casually.

Isabella bristles at the crack about "Trainers whose first instincts are to challenge each other to battles." The only thing that stops it from being literal is that she doesn't have spines like a Sandslash; her shoulders tense up as she clenches her teeth, staring fixedly at the healing machine. She doesn't do a very good job keeping her internal monologue internal, either; she mutters under her breath, "Yeah, like there's a contest hall here we could use instead. Or maybe have a cooking competition, see whose Pokémon can bake the best Poképuffs."

She's not really used to nurses being sarcastic at her. Especially since she already feels bad for Chouette getting beaten up so badly - even though she knows the lucky hit the Flabebé got in wasn't really anybody's fault.

Jeremy is sat staring at his feet when the Nurse comes in to reprimand the group. He, like the rest of them, doesn't appreciate the tone of the Nurse. This disapproval is almost expressed when he instinctively goes to flip the bird, catching himself at the last moment and awkwardly turning it into a head scratch. Instead he murmurs a half-hearted "Thank You" as he grabs his ball and returns to where he was sat.

After a few moments of consideration, Jeremy stands to discuss the battle with the group. However, seeing that Sibyl and Abbey are hunched over a sketchbook he deigns to just talk it out with Isabella. It was her fight, after all.

"Hey," Jeremy mutters as he reaches her. "I'm not gonna dance around my point. I'm sorry I dropped out early. That Poliwag got a surprise hit on me but I should've seen it coming. I rushed into it, didn't think things through, and I paid the price. I think if I'd been smarter we could've won. So...I'm sorry I let the team down. I'll do better next time." The apology is awkward and sounds forced, as if it's not something he's done much before.

"Eh?" Abbey looks up, surprised at the attention, even though she... really shouldn't be. Shyly she turns the sketch of Ellis' fireball flying toward the tall girl's Bellsprout so Sibyl can see it better. The detail on it is actually pretty good, though possibly a bit sensationalized for impact, like a comic book. "It's something I've always enjoyed doing," she says with a smile.

Er... now that she thought of it, where had the girl from the other group gone? Somehow she had expected to see her when they had got here.

Isabella sighs a little. It's really hard to stay angry at people when they apologize without being prompted. She shakes her head, sending her ponytail bouncing back and forth. "... It's not your fault. You managed to get cornered by somebody with an advantage. If that Flabebé had been something Electric I'd have pulled Chouette out sooner than I did. I was expecting the burn to be the worst problem. Besides, that Poliwag was kicking butt out there. We gotta watch out for Nina on the rematch; she's silly, but I have a feeling she's gonna be a tough one."

She grins a little and reaches up to ruffle Jeremy's hair, with no apparent thought that he might object to it. She has to stand on tiptoe to do it. "Speaking of hidden talents, you had some pretty good dramatic timing going on there. Maybe we oughta get you and Ellis into the contests, too."
