Tabi Port; The beginning of a grand adventure...

Tabi Port has obviously modernised recently. Small cottages and equally-small shops are dwarfed by the new constructions; the Tabi Hotel, and the nearby Pokemon Centre.

Occupying what clearly is usually the village green is a large marquee, a large banner attached to the top reading 'Honi's First League Trainers, departing at 10am!' A big, bulky man stands outside the entrance to the marquee, checking IDs and only permitting the prospective trainers in; kids of various ages are emerging from the hotel at irregular intervals and being allowed in, often watched by tearful friends and family.

The mood is overall quite festive, with all manner of souvenirs being hawked by the entrepenurial villagers. It is now 9:50, and the last boat expected to arrive has just pulled into the docks, bringing with it the last few soon-to-be Trainers, who are now disembarking onto dry land.

You are all amongst these Trainers. What do you do now?

Rana looks up at Abbey with a rather nervous gaze at first, looking for a few moments rather like a child worried about being told off, but seems to relax a little at the praise and encouragement and lets out another cry of "Ra!"

Having finished her whirlwind tour of hugs, Nina looks to Sibyl and Isabella. "Aw, thanks! Oh, I'm sure he's just nervous about setting off!" she adds, in obvious reference to Douglas. She doesn't seem at all bothered about discussing him right in front of the older boy's face. "I bet once we're all used to all this he won't be as mean!" She suddenly whirls around to look at Douglas. "The butler's not coming, though, is he? Because that would be so boorring!"

Douglas, rather like Isabella, seems not to quite find it in himself to be mean to Nina. "Erm...no, I suppose not," he admits grudgingly, before turning to the four of you. "Since apparently some of you are sore losers, and I suppose you did beat some of my...allies, you can have this." He pulls out a wallet which rather seems to have been styled to match his suit and pulls a few notes from it, quickly counting them before holding them in your direction with one hand, putting his wallet away with the other. "Three thousand seems reasonable."

"Well alright! That's more like it!" Jeremy exclaims as he strolls over to Douglas' outstretched hand, taking the money. "You're alright, kid. Your attitude could use some work but I reckon there's hope for a decent person in you yet."

He tears his eyes from the wad of cash to look Douglas in the eyes, and puts his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Listen...uhh, thanks for the money. You talk a lot about what...Juan?...taught you. Well, I have a mentor too, and if you don't mind me doing so, I'd like to relay to you one of the best bests of wisdom he ever gave to me. Whatever Juan taught you, I'm sure that'll make you a better trainer; but if you want to be a better person, you need to not take yourself so seriously."

He looks back to the money and starts flicking through it, his face contorting as he strains to figure out what one-quarter of three-thousand is. He looks over to the girls, "Uhh...one of y'all might need to help me with this. I...kinda didn't finish school." He says as he walks away from Douglas, towards the group.

Isabella looks like she's about on the point of refusing the money, just out of spite. Especially after the 'sore loser' remark. In fact, she opens her mouth to do just that - luckily, Jeremy beats her there. For someone who can see the future, Isabella really doesn't think things through.

Even luckier, Jeremy's little speech is long enough to make her bite her tongue and rethink the anger that was starting to bubble over at him. He pulled out early, after all, and at a point when they were left with opponents that a Dark-type would have been really helpful against. But being concerned for his Pokémon is hardly a bad thing.

She does her best to keep her mouth shut while she thought about what the battle revealed about her teammates. Jeremy is definitely concerned for his Pokémon, maybe to a degree of being a liability - but he has a bit of a flair for theatrics, anyway, and seems to be taking his position as the oldest one in the group seriously. Sybil had stuck things out the longest, only giving in when Abbey had surrendered in the face of serious opposition. Isabella thinks she could definitely get to like Sybil - but it's hard to blame Abbey for being cautious at that point.

She huffs impatiently as Jeremy struggles with the math. Though, frankly, math isn't really her strong suit, either. But she's still biting her tongue until Douglas is far enough away that she trusts herself not to say something unpleasant in response to his condescension.

Abbey seems to be facing quite a few moral dilemmas today. Part of her knows she should take the offered money, regardless of the intent behind it, to help get her and her groupmates on a solid standing. She had only so much savings to bring with her, unable/unwilling to ask for or take more from her parents. Though... that seemed to not be an issue with Douglas. On the other hand, she really doesn't want his charity after a rigged fight, no matter how close they had been to actually winning. The taste of defeat is still too fresh and bitter.

So it's with some relief that Jeremy makes the decision for them. Though she mentally chastises herself for being indecisive. "I-It's 750 each, but..." she pauses and glances at Isabella. "It was Isabella's battle. I think she should have it... or decide how to divide it. We... well, I was just helping her..." she corrects herself hurriedly. She had already made one collective decision for the day and didn't want to make a precedent of it. She doesn't think it would be fair to speak for the others.

Well, except on one point. "But I think we should be more concerned with getting to the Pokémon Center." Her eyes turn to concern for Isabella and her fallen Hoothoot. It had definitely taken the biggest beating of the lot of them.

Sibyl eyes the money suspiciously, trying to weigh up whether her wounded pride was worth refusing the money. Fortunately for her, there was no need to worry as Jeremy takes the money without a problem. As Jeremy speaks to Douglas (slightly amused at the maturity in in his speech: she thinks it makes him sound like a sage old grandpa), the pause allows the red mist to clear, allowing her to realise her previous bitter mood was unneeded, now feeling a little guilty for nearly lashing out at her group mates, especially at Jeremy and Abbey. One could hardly fault them for being caring: and Isabella only got quite unlucky, so Sibyl had no issue with her to begin with.

After Abbey speaks about the money and the Pokemon centre, Sibyl nods in agreement, adding, "Yeah, we can head on over and sort out money if we're leaving now." She looks at Isabella for her reply in splitting the cash.

Isabella looks down at Chouette's Pokéball, still in her hand, and winces just slightly. She'd really hoped not to start her first battle in the new region with quite so comprehensive a defeat. "Yeah, Pokémon center sounds like a good idea. Let's go. Good battle."

That last remark is still very obviously addressed in any direction but Douglas's. Isabella is not even remotely a good loser.

She manages to give Abbey a tight smile. "I'm not gonna hog all the money. I got us into a losing fight, before I even knew you guys. Heck, you almost pulled us out. Rana kicked serious butt out there."

Abbey looks away at Isabella's words and the tightness in her smile. "Ah, that's not... I didn't mean..." she stammers, asking herself for the millionth time how she could possibly make her first impression on these people any worse.

But at the compliment for Rana, she turns her face back up with a tentative, shy smile. "Oh, um, th-thank you." She turns a more beaming smile onto Rana, to make sure she knows others noticed how well she did too.

Rana gives a happy smile back at Abbey in return and also at Isabellla at the praise.

Douglas glances down to Jeremy's hand on his shoulder and looks rather like he's about to say something unpleasant in reply before simply shrugging Jeremy's hand off and looking across to Abigail. "We all need to visit the Pokemon Centre," he remarks, in slightly less of a condescending tone than normal, before recalling his Flabebe and heading in that direction.

Nina, meanwhile, continues to play peacekeeper. "Ooh, I know! We should all give each other our contact details so we can chat!" Without waiting for much of an answer, she pulls out her own Pokedex and then looks a touch confused. "Um...how do you...oh, I don't know how to find the contacts list!" Apparently she hadn't paid much attention to Professor Willow's assistant.

Jeremy, arriving where his teammates are standing, offers the money to Abbey. "You said it was 750 each, right? Could you split it, please? I'm worried I'd mess it up." He chuckles when he says this, his lack of book smarts being something he decided not to beat himself up over long ago. Besides, he was more than enough street smart to make up for it, especially since it seemed like there was plenty of knowledge between his new friends to cover his weaknesses. Despite this, his words are tinged with the slightest hint of annoyance; easy to miss if you weren't paying attention.

He quickly shrugs this off when Nina asks for help with the Pokédex, pulling his own from out of his back pocket and flicking it open. "Oh! It's, uh, the right button. Here, let's trade details." He says, gesturing her over to him.

Isabella chuckles quietly at Abbey's consternation. "I didn't mean I thought you were accusing me. I feel like I'd be hogging all the money if you gave most of it to me." Clearly she's going to have to watch her words around Abbey... at least as long as she remembers to.

When Douglas agrees to the Pokémon center idea, she shoots him an odd, sidelong glance. The thought behind the look is, I'm trying to hate you over here, how dare you say something that makes you sound like a reasonable human being, but the resulting expression really just looks weird.

"Yeah, I guess having somebody to call is a good idea. It'd be kind of sad if we all only knew like three other people in the entire region, huh?" Isabella rubs the back of her neck, looking sheepish, even if she hasn't really got anything to look sheepish over. She's feeling guilty now and she doesn't really know why.
