Thread title, really. In a game I'm in, my character has a pair of Thermal Goggles and I noticed that Dead Silent doesn't actually mention anything about body heat. Meaning that, by RAW, Dead Silent can be foiled by Thermal Goggles and other IR cameras (Which even IRL are pretty ubiquitous).

Yes, that's true.
...and?

Thermal Goggles are an item from a future splatbook most people avoid using (for some reason) and additionally, most campaigns are not set on modern earth.
Also, that is literally what Thermal Goggles are for! Detecting things that are very stealthy and hard to see.

You could make a case for saying that some ghost pokemon do not give off body heat, but you could make the same case for, you know, most ice type pokemon. Or Steel. There's no reason the capability itself (which is obtainable by trainers) should necessarily cover this.

It is called Dead SILENT, not Dead Body. You can be as sneaky as you want, but if something can see heat, they can see you. They just can't hear you.

We're not going to make up resting core temperatures for every Pokemon, I can tell you that right now. :3

No, no I didn't mean THAT much detail. I just meant it was odd that a capability that means you don't breathe or have a heart beat doesn't have a line that says "Pokemon with Dead Silent tend to be room temperature when touched, unless they also have Chilled or Heater."

@EndrewSwiftwind: Dead Silent also mentions you don't breath or have a heartbeat. But it's still called Dead Silent.

@Jacquerel: This was brought up at my table, but we figured that Chilled pokemon would stand out just as much as others against room temperature.

My current ruling in said game is it'll vary from Pokemon to Pokemon. The majority of which are going to still give off body heat, but there'll be exceptions if it comes up. Gastly, for example, possibly won't but Litwick is possibly obviously going to, despite both having Dead Silent. Shedinja might not, being a husk, Grimer and Muk, probably.

Many objects emit little/practically no infrared light. Otherwise infrared wouldn't be as helpful for noticing the glowing living bodies that emit it. Unless it was surrounded by heat sources, the pitch black wouldn't stand out much from the regular black background.
TLDR in most circumstances infrared vision doesn't help you spot things that don't emit infrared.

Of course sci-fi fluff whatever you want :P

Edit: Ofc if something with chilled was standing on a sidewalk heated by the sun, it would stick out quite easily, and if it stood next to a lamp, you would notice some "object" casting a shadow in infrared (although in both cases you could probably spot them with the naked eye just as easily)
