Pretty sure Clauncher is based on Mantis Shrimp to a degree.

Sorry Silver, Clauncher was based on a pistol shrimp. Though I suppose a mantis shrimp would be its physical attacking counterpart.

I mean...they're really similar species. Pistol shrimp do the whole snapping claw thing too with the same effect.

Practically speaking as far as gamefreak designing a pokemon around them, they're the same thing.

Ok, fair enough, Anonyman.

I am kinda surprised I have not found any suggestions for a cockroach pokemon. It could work with the idea of it being able to survive radiation by giving it a poison/electric typing.

It's not technically an animal, but I really want to see this as a Pokémon...

Technically, Dark Shadow, Deoxys is a virus from space, but having the appearance of a bateriophage would be pretty cool.

Man, this forum has had me pull out an old animal encyclopedia I used to read as a child. I think I will be here for a while.

Well, yeah, there's a reason I always liked Deoxys... (And being a DNA Pokémon is far too cool...) :P

Ooh, here is a good one. Cat sith, a fairy cat from gaelic folk tales. Legends say that it would steal the soul of a person at their funeral before it can be claimed by gods, but is easily distracted by games and stories. This could easily be a fairy/ghost type with some inspiration from the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.

AAAAH! Virus, virus! It must be destroyed!

It would be interesting to see how a macrovirus would actually affect Pokemon, infecting them to make more of itself, or creating zombie Pokemon or something like that.

I think that a chimera and manticore would both be cool designs.
