So I read this article about a caterpillar today, and I think it would be a really neat idea for a pokemon. But I'm sure there are more as well. What animals do you think would make good pokemon? Do you know any fakemon that are based off of particularly interesting animals? |

I'm surprised to this date that no Pokémon has been based upon the humble elephant. We've lions, tigers and bears oh my, but no blatant elephant Pokémon as of yet. EDIT: Forgot Phanphy and Donphan were a thing. Still. They share traits, but I imagine that someone could do another rather nifty two stage evolution built upon the concept. Dear lord, there are so many fish, they could probably fill a whole pokedex with them! Also, even though this isn't really animal - related, mythological creatures might be pretty cool. Maybe a Cthulhu pokemon, or a sphinx one? I've personally always wanted to see a pokemon based off a hyena too. |

What about more horned mammals? We have deer, and a bull, but i don't remember any moose, elk, caribou, etc. |

I want to know when we're getting a dolphin! We have sharks and god knows how many fish but no dolphin. Yes we have Wailmer/Wailord- but they are definitely not the agile dolphin. Come on, we even have something named after (though not resembling) the dugong. We have a manatee before the second/third most intelligent animal on this planet! |

I think Santler was sort of meant to be caribou-ish. Or elk? |

The pink fairy armadillo, a burrowing armadillo from South America, would make for an interesting Ground/Fairy type. I was considering at first to suggest a golden mole for the typing, but they look like digletts. In addition to a dolphin pokemon, there should be a couple more whales. Like a beluga, narwhal, or humpback whale. And also: Mantis shrimps. They are too crazy to not mention. I mean, seriously, they strike their club-arms hard enough they produce temperatures several thousand degrees Celsius. Edited by Nacho_Rocket, Aug 12 2015, 07:08 PM.
