It's July 28th 2027 6:00 PM UTC time. The servers running pocket monsters online have just gone online. With the new virtuball helmet on your head you click play and go through the set up routine, touching various parts of your body in order to calibrate the game sensors. Calibrating the emotion capture face sensors, making various faces, for the game, and you log on. You're treated to the first screen of the game. Friendly old professor oak.

"Hi there trainer, your name was?" it asked.

It followed up with the question, "Are you a boy or girl?"

Then ended with a selection screen filled with various sliders and options to edit your character's body to your whims, and feature selection screen to select how you want to play your pokemon game.

After answering the questions you saw an aerial view of the starting area, pallet town filled to the brim with the new starting trainers, professor oak's voice said "I'd ask you what your rival's name was...... but there are dozens of them! Enjoy your time in the pokemon World!"

Then it faded to black, and you felt your eyes were closed, leading only to natural open to see Pallet town in all it's glory before you, dozens of small houses, surrounding you. A small market off in the distance, and Professor oak's Laboratory in front of you..... They only thing left, is to go pick up your starter.

Well that just happened.

He was now a good six feet tall, with a deep tan skin and strange hair. This was the polar opposite of the pale, short, bald monk image he had created. Fantastic.

"Well... Looks like we have our work cut out for us, eh Darwin" Nate asked, looking to the Chimchar on his shoulder. He looked around further. He might have wanted to solo, but he wasn't stupid. With the stakes what they were, he couldn't afford do this on his own.

Wait, maybe he was lying Maybe if I just open up the menu... Nope. Nope. No exit button. Looks like I'll have to find someone...

Standing away from large crowds, Weed observes the others while the timer tick down, wondering what is going to happen.

"What an elaborate joke." Weed thought at first, listening to the self proclaim Satoshi Tajiri's explanations. "He's really milking it, trapped in a game? Haven't that genre been done before?" Looking around to see the other's expressions, Weed wonders what the GMs are doing. Why would they allow someone to masquerade as the famous Satoshi Tajiri? "What a hoax." Weed says under his breath, about to head back towards Pallet Town when Arceus roars loudly.

Bathe in the sudden light, Weed involuntary groans while shielding his eyes with a hand. Once the illumination fades, Weed brings his hand back down, blinking his eyes to readjust them to the daylight. Something felt wrong, Weed felt it in his bones, something have changed. But what? Looking around, he sees many other players have physically changed. Taking a step backwards, Weed patted himself, only find out the armor he worn seems a little bit larger than usual.

Tae Hyun had created Weed in respect to his physical self, but just a bit more muscular. Now that his appearance have changed to reflect his real self, the clothing he wears is slightly larger for his current frame. "This is so wrong..." Weed mutters. Sure his armor still fits, he'll just need to adjust the belts and buckles so that they fit real nicely.

"But now isn't the time for that," Weed thought, his heart racing while being watchful of the crowd. Subconsciously, Tae Hyun believes what Satoshi Tajiri had said, but wont admit it. Slowly backing away, Weed observes for any signs of panic and mass hysteria. He wouldn't want to be caught in one, or be trample by others.

"Clear my game. Make it to the end, and you'll be set free." Tajiri's words echoed in Weed's mind. "This isn't good. My physical body will eventually waste away if I'm stuck in this game." Weed knew about his health and condition, which was starting to get better. He could eventually live like any normal guy. But this Satoshi Tajiri decided to play with their lives, his life.

"Screw him" Weed says under his breath. "I'll need allies." Weed said, observing the crowd. There isn't anyone he could trust but himself. "I'll need allies..."

'Won't they have to move us to hospitals? Who knows how long we are going to be trapped in here, it will cost so much money just to have all the people playing to have the equipment transferred to their homes or apartments. What's going to happen to those who can't afford that price?' Finton thought as the man continued talking.

Just as he disappeared, he felt his body change slightly, and looking around, everyone who had stood nearby had different bodies as well. His clothes felt a bit tight when he looked down and saw that he really did have his real body, which was slightly better defined than the avatar he had made. His scarred face must also be present, who would trust that face, it didn't have the same kindness he saw in his avatar's face; his own face was definitely going to scare away more people than he wanted.

"Well I'm going to need allies. I'll let them come to me." Finton said almost under his breath as he started walking toward the start of the journey. "I still need money and supplies one way or another."

As the facade fell Kano immediately pulled his hat down over his face 'Stuck here? No...that can't be true...this must be a prank, a security measure to protect against scammers.' he thought opening his menu trying to Log Out or Contact the Admins, but the option was gone.

Kano scowled 'This can't be happening, I was supposed to just spend a week in this damn game, I can't be stuck in here for who knows how long, What if someone stops by to give me payment, if they find me unconscious...or worse if I get taken to the hospital and he finds me...'he thought starting to fall to despair but stopped calming himself 'Than I won't be stuck in here. Same plan as before...speed run...Just need to find some people capable enough I can use.' he thought about to ask around but realised his current state wasn't the best for finding allies, keeping his face hidden

'But first I need new equipment' he thought looking at his attire as he pushed his way through the crowd heading toward Route 1 determined to reach the next town first.

As Flinton, Kano, Weed, and Nate Walked foward. They saw the entrance to the Route. Many trainers had already bodly dashed forward. Running down the Route, and seemed to be fighting pidgies. Many of them were alone, Though quite a few were working together.

Many though turned around and went back into town. Many people were discussing. They were unsure of how to proceed as this was now no longer a classic Pokemon game.

Standing near the entrance to the route though were a few people. A quick count would reveal other than you nine people standing by the entrance to Route one. Five of those people seemed to be discussing formation with each other.

Their usernames floating above their heads, "Sweet <3", "Nate Inferno", "Finton Arbeider", "Saki" and "Weed".

Jonathan had initially assumed this timer was just to ensure nobody got a head start while others were still in character creation.
The reality couldn't have been more different.
No matter how unbelievable it seemed to him, Jonathan eventually decided the best course of action was to play it safe and assume it was all true.

Besides the lab, Pallet town has no places of interest. I wager I must at least traverse Route 1 to reach the standard Pokecenter and Pokemart buildings. While usually not an issue, more is at stake here than normal games. On top of that, with Gym leaders being taken on in groups of up to 6, I can only assume the game is designed to be played in a group. I need to join a party before all the people familiar with Pokemon are gone from Pallet town.

His course of action was to hang out at the entrance of Route 1, talking to passing players to make sure they understand the game is potentially designed to be tackled as a group, and asking if he could add people as friends to share additional information down the line.

Nate looked left. He looked right. Then he looked left again. Almost like he was about to cross a road. Well, a road full of Pidgey and Rattata. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a rusty pair of brass knuckles, which he swiftly put on. Darwin looked at him inquisitively.

He prepared to charge in, fists blazing before he realized something. This is crowded. Too crowded. If we want to survive, we'll never have a chance at getting more powerful here. It will take far too long. Best course faction right now would be to go a bit farther a long. With a group, probably. Strength in numbers and all that. He did the only reasonable thing.

After all, this was an MMO. And like any MMO, when you're a n00b looking for a party or guild or any variation of the sort...

"HEY. WHO WANTS TO TEAM UP?"

As he stood around, Finton noticed that there seemed to be four people around him that weren't in a group and well, it was always good to make friends and potential customers as well. He took a couple steps towards Saki, about to ask about what he meant about the game being taken on as a team, as well as to invite him to a group or put each other on their friends list.

His strides stopped all of a sudden when one of the people standing alone, a Nate Inferno, yelled at what was probably the top of his lungs for a group. 'Well that is one way to do things. He said before stepping up to the shorter man in the monk outfit.

"I'd be willing to team up, although I'd have to ask you to refrain from yelling." He said to Nate, his heavily scarred face looking down at him sternly.

Standing near the entrance, Weed carefully observes the players that passes by, trying to determine whatever or not each person would be a worthy ally. He wouldn't trust them right away, as they'll have to earn his trust, but Weed doesn't deny the fact that grouping up is the best course of action. Especially when he heard Saki's explanation of group battles.

"That is valuable information, Saki-nim. Which makes sense for a mmo game," Weed says to Saki. "I heard the questing system is different then most games. Depending on how you interact with NPCs, you may obtain special quests." Weed share this information, with a slight emphasis on the heard part. He purposely left out knowledge about NPCs having personalities or how they may give more then just special quests. Everything he told the others are true, as he did hear this information from another player. After all, he don't have an obligation to share any information, but is doing so to make friends

When the player nearby yells out for a group, Weed sighs inwardly. "Inferno-nim is right about one thing. Grouping up isn't a bad idea, especially after what you just shared with us." Weed says eyeing Nate Inferno, then back to Saki.

Kano observed the situation, the route filled with Enemies and other players and going alone was a dangerous idea. A group would be the most prudent choice, but with his current state, there would be a number of embarrassing questions to follow, he could be labelled a pervert or worse his true nature could be exposed and a Negative reputation wasn't something he wanted to start with if he was stuck in this game.

'The moment I speak, I'll expose myself, but maybe there's a way to group with someone without talking' he said looking through the game options trying to find a function to start a group, eyeing the group of three nearby who were already starting to congregate.
