Tsuru had sat silently, eating with his pokemon and thinking. He'd ordered a beef pot, which he'd shared with Yoko and his Yanma which he'd decided to name Makai, a bowl of white rice, and a pot of green tea for himself. He'd eaten slowly and deliberately, and very politely, but he hadn't spoken. With the beef pot largely exhausted he was slowly working his way through the rice bowl as Yoko and Makai sat by, content. He set down the rice bowl, pouring a cup of tea, drinking it, and studying the leaves that remained, staring at the bottom of the cup for a long moment.

The forest is angry...I've heard plenty of tales about angry forest spirits. Blunted axes, creatures which mimic trees...all those holes, as if something were uprooted. Buried victims... Trees feed through the roots. Perhaps they were feeding on the bodies of their victims...and if those tales of spirits are to be believed, perhaps they were feeding on much more than that...perhaps... If some of them are spirits, swords and axes would be of no use...and if the mimics had hard bodies or shells...and they left splinters...like shattered stone...

He refilled his cup and returned to his rice bowl, letting the leaves settle again.

From what Tsuru can tell Trevenant seem the most likely candidate though Sudowoodo can't be completely ruled out.

Tsuru finished his rice, setting down the empty bowl and chopsticks respectfully. He drank his tea and studied the leaves again, his brow furrowing ever so slightly. He set down the cup again, but did not refill it, and he broke his silence.

"I believe I know what we may be dealing with. In its base form, at least," he said, folding his arms. "In all my studies of plants from many various regions there have been a few common myths that persisted, despite the originating culture. Those two myths focus on two central themes; the mimic and the wrathful spirit." He moved his right hand to grasp his chin thoughtfully at this point, his left hand supporting his elbow.

"The mimic tends to be a playful and benign in form. It assumes the form of a tree, but is a being purely of the material realm. It's body is said to be hard as stone, and some myths claim it is made of rock. It goes by many names, but the most common is Sudowoodo. It is possible that this creature has been corrupted and become an aberrant...but there is a darker myth, and I feel that is far more likely," Tsuru went on.

"The wrathful spirit is not a physical creature. It is a spirit. They take on physical form by possessing dead wood, stumps, and trees, and tend to seek vengeance against people who they feel have harmed the forests. I do not think it would be difficult to turn such a creature aberrant and convince it to attack people. What's more, as it is a spirit mundane weapons like the swords we saw, or this axe, would be of no use against it. People who tried to fight it would be helpless against it without some kind of spiritual or elemental powers, or a pokemon to defend them. The traditional name for these wrathful spirits is Trevenant," he said calmly.

"There's more to consider, however. Just as we consume physical food to sustain our bodies, a spirit must consume food to sustain its body. Physical food for its own possessed, decaying form, but I also suspect that these spirits have been twisted to consume souls to sustain their spiritual forms. Trees gather nutrients through their roots. That would explain why it was hunting people and burying them, and why we found places where it looked like something had been uprooted. These spirits were burying them in order to consume them, body and soul. Human bodies simply provided the purest, most balanced source of nutrition," he finished coldly, his eyes narrowing. "That's my theory, at least."

Chou nodded "That sounds very good, If that is the case some of you might need some weapons and such that can help...I can lend you a few things." She finished the last of her sweets "I beat Shiro in hanafuda and he gave me a few things." she said with a grin "I would need a small amount of compensation for them."

Jouto gave the most quizical look he could unintentionally wear on his head, it was easily evident, he had not followed a word of what Tsuru had said.

As Sly listened to Chou describe the items she had available and mention compensation he grimaced.

"Well, neither of those are any use to me... I fight up close and I'm broke..."

After Tsuru's recounting of the myths, Sly was trying not to think about the lost people of Azalea being buried alive and fed upon slowly... with little success.

"How does that saying among politicians go? 'Never let a good crisis go to waste?'," Tsuru says in his calm tone, shaking his head. "No, I don't think I'll be purchasing anything. I can't afford those goggles of yours, and someone once advised me against using fire in an urban area. Thank you, but I'll trust my own talents."

"Very well, oh and the money is simply for the up keep of the gym." Chou said with a grin "Besides I'm much more fair than Shiro." she added.

"No doubt maintaining a gym requires significant funding. I merely question your timing. Be that as it may, we should go inquire about this 'Slowpoke Well'."

"I won't deny I am a bit of an opportunist, but what more would expect from someone raised by spiders." Chou said standing up and walking out "Well let's well let's get to the well!" she said reaching into her kimono and pulling out some money that she handed to random person as she left.
