Overcome with wonder, Zhu walks in silence. This place is absolutely beautiful, but terrifying in its own right. Where, or when, are we? Is there any chance of returning back to Earth? He strains to listen to the sounds of the Pokemon, hoping to hear a familiar sound, or at least something resembling something from home. He glances over to Flynn, remembering his agility. "Flynn, was it? You seem like a nimble fellow. Perhaps you should try to scale one of the "trees" to get a better vantage point. We may be able to see some sort of civilization, or at worst get a better idea of our surroundings." Edited by UmbralHero, Jun 22 2015, 08:19 AM.

William is silently walking at the back of the group, deep in thought. He was currently overthinking proper explanations as to why the sky was red. The colour of the sky is determined by the make up of it, how it refracts light coming from the sun. However, as we are currently breathing, and still alive, I must conclude that most of the atmosphere is similar to that of Earth, or perhaps is filled with oxygen and several slow acting poisons, also a good possibilities. Or perhaps we are being kept alive by other means. I have no means of testing this though, apart from ... well breathing for now, I suppose. I wish I had brought some chemistry equipment. Ah well. |

Flynn walks along, head down and jolting at the sound of each bolt, trying not to think about what was happening. These other guys seem smart, he's sure they'll figure things out. When Zhu asks him to climb up and take a look, though, he nods and his demeanor quickly shifts, going about the task with next-to-no visible effort, yet obvious skill. |

Shane wanders along behind the group silently, taking a look around and studying the landscape more carefully. What an interesting shade or red the sky was! Almost like blood, which made him think of a number of video games, which made him wonder if they'd been turned into one, which made him consider the remarkable advances in video game technology in recent years. Who knows? Maybe one day, their entire lives would be one big game! He shook his head to clear it. Now's not the time to think about that... Instead, he chose to focus on really looking at the landscape, how it moved, how it was shaped, how the clouds hung overhead like a brick doesn't, those sorts of things, until he had a clear picture of it in his head. Then, he pulled out his camera, wiped out the last of the sand, and started taking pictures of everything. After he was done, he put them all in the 'Epic Landscapes' file and hit 'Save'. Bill seemed to be lost in thought. After a moment's hesitation (and scooting around for the right lighting) he snapped a picture of him staring off into the distance, forehead wrinkled into a frown and deep in thought. (Dark Aether Plains and Forest added to Travel Archive, Bill added to Profile Archive) After that, he heads over to Bill and taps him on the shoulder. He gives him what he hopes is a comforting smile and a pat on the back. A message is waiting for Bill on his Dex. We're fine. Don't worry so much. |

Bill is startled out of his ponderings when he feels a hand on his shoulder. Quickly looking up, he sees it's Shane and reads the message he had written him. He smiles somewhat sheepishly "Oh, no, I am not worrying, just thinking of possible reasons the sky can be tinted this peculiar shade of red. My first guess would be a change in atmosphere, but as we are currently not choking to death, it can not be that different." He shrugs, as he forcifully stops himself from rambling before continuing on a whisper tone, "may I ask though, why have you not told the others Mystery can talk? It woud certainly ease up conversation and allow your voice, so to speak, to be heard whenever you want, without having to type constantly. I know it is not of my concern, but it seems to me only beneficial if you were to follow this course of action. But again, none of my concern." |

Shane shrugs noncommittally. He'll let them know when it's time for them to know. Probably later tonight, after this storm breezes by...And WOW that lightning was close. Shane, having no idea of the proper procedure for being out in a lightning storm, grabs Bill's arm and tugs him under the 'shelter' of the nearest tree. |

"Arceus, no!" Bill shouts as Shane tries to pull him under a tree, stopping the mute boy from walking any further, "one thing to remember during a thunderstorm is to not stay directly under a tree or tower or likewise high structure. Lightning strikes at the highest possible point and standing under a tree when it is struck will most likely end up with you being fried. Let us just continue walking and not stop untill we have found some proper shelter. I am sure we will be fine." |

As they stopped briefly, Eve took the opportunity to wriggle free of Dante's arms, landing on the ground with a small thud and a triumphant "Eie!" as she gained freedom to start looking around. "Well, if nothing else, the Pokémon around here seem to be the same ones we're used to. I can hear Mankey and Aipom above us and if I had to proffer a guess, that thing in the distance sounds like a Rhyhorn." Dante gestured to their surroundings as he continued. "There's plenty of dry wood and wide branching trees... if the thunderstorm passes I think we should hole up and try constructing a makeshift tree house for the night. Ground level is likely to be prone to all kinds of nocturnal predators and we're going to struggle to protect ourselves from them." As Dante spoke, Eve made a small discovery of her own, calling back to the gathered humans with an excited "Vui! Vui!" At her feet lay some odd, half-spheres, that made her fur sticky when she moved closer to sniff the sweet scent emanating from them. She was feeling hungry... was this food? Maybe a little lick wouldn't hurt... |

As everyone looked around, what Dante said was verified. There was dry dead wood all around them, but there was no telling how long it would stay dry for as rain trickled through the canopy. The truth of his statements were also obvious to everyone, except Shane. You don't want to be on a forest floor at night. Although you certainly don't want to beneath a tall tree during a thunderstorm, these lower trees, surrounded as they were by their tall cousins, would probably be safe enough. It was one of these trees that Flynn climbed, swinging up and peering about. As Flynn looked around he could see movement in an among the trees. Several pokemon, some birds, and some packs of chattering Mankey and Aipom too. Looking up one of the nearby tall trees you saw more Aipom in the highest branches of the trees, some thirty to forty feet off the forest floor. They were huddled around a clutch of small brown balls that seemed to hang from the trees in clusters like bananas, and the pokemon had taken some interest in them, picking them with their tails and banging them against the tree trunk. If you used one of the vines like a rope, you could probably climb the tree. Something catches Shanes eye as he reviews his photographs of the forest floor. There seem to be brown hemispheres clustered around the tallest trees. How peculiar, and it seems Eve has taken a liking to them. As far as a night in the forest though, a little lean-to beneath a tree should be just fine! As Eve pokes about in the hemispheres sniffing, she takes a lick. It is sweet, and good! But it seems like these are just leftovers that someone already ate... Bill, as you ponder the sky, you try to draw parallels to Earth's sky. The sky on Earth is blue because of small trace particulates in the upper atmosphere diffusing the blue spectrum light from the solar radiation. It stands to reason that, for this sky to be red, either there is an absence of those particulates, or there is an abundance of other particulates that diffuse red spectrum light. Without upper atmospherics measurements, though, it's almost impossible to figure out which, although if the rain fell from high enough then it could, perhaps, carry down some of those particulates. As your eyes are drawn elsewhere, though, your technical mind turns in other ways. Long, seemingly strong vines, good for natural rope. Wide limb beds in the trees, suitable for building a platform. Plentiful wood, building material. With a little know-how and elbow grease it wouldn't be too difficult to build a shelter in the treetops. |

Isaac stumbles along, lost in thought about what to do when Dante begins talk of setting up a shelter and the Pokemon being nearby "You've definitely got the right idea, Dante. I can always have Lolth set up some traps around the ground if we set up a shelter in the trees, and her web would be pretty useful in setting stuff up too. It's how we normally end up doing stuff at least" As Isaac begins to talk of her the small Spinarak climbs from his back to his shoulder and he gives he a small scratch on the head |
