"Well...they seem to think this is some sort of sacred ground an' we're trespassin'. Now, there's this 'trial by combat', which we need champions for, an' they ask us 'freedom or death'?" Mystery replies.

Shane frowns. He points to the Poke-ball in the picture and then makes a sign to Mystery. The hound sighs. "An' what SHANE is sayin' is that the 'freedom or death' bit could refer to the Poke-ball. 'I'd rather die than lose my freedom', in other words." He growls under his breath in Poke-speak. I'd better find some very nice treat in my food for all this translatin' I'm doing...

The Alpha Zoroark listens to the conversation and begins to growl slightly in frustration. "Ark! Zor zor. Zoro-ark!" He beckons for them to follow him behind the stone obelisk.

Mystery swallows and nervously steps up next to Shane. "He wants us to follow him..." he says, "We clearly aren't understanding something and he wants to see it..."

Shane sighs and pats Mystery on the head. Well this situation was going so well...

"Oh dear. Well, at least we might glimpse some more information as to our whereabouts and the tribe's apparent hostility towards us. I am sure we will be fine." He follows the Alpha Zoroark.

Like they had a choice...

Dante follows the Alpha Zoroark as well, Eve padding alongside him protectively.

"Agreed, but let's keep our wits about us. I find it hard to believe that they will be giving us scones and coffee by their tone."

Flynn follows along at the back of the group, keeping Kurt close. He's not sure what they mean by "champions" but he doesn't like what it implies.

As the group follows the Alpha Zororark down into the cave several torches lit as he passed. The cave's walls were decorated with crude painting, all depicting what appeared to be the same theme. Figures of varying description defeating a Zorua, some holding an orb that resembled a pokeball above their heads; or being defeated by them and set upon by the pack. As the cave opened up into a larger room more torches burst into life, and behind their group filed in the Zoroark Tribe.

On the ground in this larger chamber was a crude circle, bisected. It looked like a ritual area, or slightly like a crude arena. The Alpha Zoroark moved to the far side, and motioned for you to take up positions opposite the circle from him.

"Ark zor zoro, Zoroark!," the Alpha said.

Five Zorua lept out onto the battlefield from the crowd. One made a point of meeting the Alpha's eyes and there was conflict in their stare, but the Alpha did nothing and said nothing.

"Ark, zor zoro!," the Alpha said, the five Zorua arrayed against you. Instinctively, you knew what this meant without Mystery having to translate.

Bill wants to examine the self lighting torches, curious as to how thetly work, but instead sticks to the group, not wanting to stay behind. However, ye takes a good look at the paintings as they ealk by. "These appear to show a Pokémon battle of some sort," he mutters to himself, deep in thought.

As they reach a large room and the Alpha starts speaking and summons some Zorua, he gets a suspicion. "I believe we have to fight for our freedom. If we win, we will probably go free and if my suspicions are correct, get the beaten Zorua. If we lose ... well, it is probably better if we win."

At the Alpha's last words, he gets out Nikola's ball and releases him. "Nikola, my friend, it appears we are in a bit of a bother. If you would please help?" The small reptile looks around the room curiously, but quickly focuses on the Zorua and starts charging up some electricity.
