Hello, I'm new to the PTU gaming scene, but I'm really loving it so far! I've just started playing in my first game, and I decided to go with a water-type build. I have Type Ace (naturally) and the Maelstrom class from the Game of Throhs supplement. We just started out, though, so my GM won't mind if I ask to respec (which I may, depending on the advice that I receive here). I also like the features of the Ace Trainer class, is it a good idea to mix three different classes? Any advice would be helpful, I'm fortunate to have some good pokemon already, but so far my weakness is definitely status moves...I get wrecked by confusion, paralyze, sleep, etc...Mostly because the enemy pokemon and trainers we face seem to prefer using these moves a lot. |

Special Defense Ace is one of the strongest Trainer classes in the game so you might want to incorporate that into your build. Stat Mastery will help a lot against tick damage which most status effects cause and Stat Embodiment gives either Tolerance or Multiscale, both of which are solid candidates for being the strongest defensive abilities in the game. |

Early on it's probably a better idea to focus on 2 classes and get a good base of skills before moving on to a third. Once you've gotten most of the good early Type ace and Maelstrom skills, mixing in another class is a great idea. The whole system is built around mixing and matching classes, so have fun and go nuts. |

If you are having issues with status attacks, consider investing in speed for some of your pokemon. That will help you evade those nasty effects and continue on in the battle.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I'm only level 3 with my trainer right now, so I've got a ways to go, lol! But I'm definitely enjoying the game so far ![]() I'll try to get all the best abilities from Type Ace and Maelstrom, but aside from Ace Trainer and Stat Ace, are there any other suggestions on classes that would work well together with my first two? |

Depends on exactly what you are trying to be. You have a fair amount of support from Water Ace, and some good combat moves from Maelstrom. If you want to do better personally against status you can pick up Blur (I think that is what it is called) and Tumbler. Skirmisher can help you out with combat too. Duelist could be good for support, it gives some nice bonuses. Basically, you can pick any class and it would work out fine with whatever classes you had. One thing to avoid is taking too many AP intensive classes. That is the only issue I can think of. |

Yeah, I want to mostly focus on pokemon abilities after Maelstrom, Duelist and Ace Trainer both look good, I might check those out... |

Ace Trainer is the best general-purpose Trainer class there is. It fits into virtually any build and improves the all-around performance of your Pokemon while making it easier to qualify for a lot of other classes. It's hard to go wrong with it. I'd recommend stopping when you have three classes and waiting until you see what you might need from a fourth. Gameplay will reveal your weaknesses much more than theorycraft. |

To make duelist shine, you are going to need to focus pretty heavily on using your actions for orders to make the most of building momentum which gets in the way of using Maelstrom in battle. You could also consider Mentor if you want to improve your pokemon's move selection and ability to use Tutor points for static benefits. Your party will love you too because they can benefit from most of Mentor's features. |

Wow! After looking over the Mentor class, that's definitely what I want to go for, thanks! |
