Shane points towards the sand, as if expecting that to be obvious to everyone. "Er, buddy?" Mystery says in confusion, "We're in the dessert. There's a lot of that stuff lyin' around." Shane rolls his eyes and traces the odd pattern in the sand leading up to the wagon. Someone just popped their head out too. Shane turns towards them and tries to warn them by waving and pointing at the sand. |

Looking around, Flynn spots one of those other kids that had tagged along waving at him. He goes to wave back before seeing the kid pointing down at the sand beneath him. He and Kurt slowly look to each other, then down at the sand below them. |

Having been alerted to the shifting sands, everyone now sees the stream of sand that runs beneath the carriage. The sand appears to be flowing in on itself, as if it were falling over an edge, or falling through an hourglass. |

"Guys?" Flynn calls out with a masterful grasp of the obvious. "I think there may be something beneath us." Having apparently not twigged yet that being above said something might be a bad idea, Flynn leans over the side and looks underneath the caravan. |

Shane whips out his camera and begins filming the strange event. Mystery hops up from his (very comfortable) seat by the (pleasantly warm) fire and runs over to stand by his side. At Flynn's...statement, he sighs. "Houndour..." the Pokemon mutters under his breath, "Ya don't say? Somethin' under ya? Looks t' be burrowing down there, far as I can tell." |

Well, he isn't exactly the brightest star in the sky William stands ready, activating the Starshine, which emits a beam of white light in front of it, illuminating the surroundings and hopefully making the thing, whatever it is, easier to spot. "Nikola, stand ready," he says, Not that he'll help that much, whatever it is, chances are that it is of a rather earthy inclination The reptile, unaware of his trainer's doubts, complies and stands ready for a potential attack. |

To the three onlooker, this line in the sand seems to be snaking its way randomly across their camp. As it expands in length it also expands in width. What started as a narrow rivulet beneath Flynn's caravan has now grown into a wide stream of disturbed sand, stretching almost from wheel-to-wheel. The beam of light being shined on it has drawn the attention of some other circus member, and they're staring at it curiously and mumbling. Nikola, Mystery, and Kurt all seem unusually agitated by what is happening. The three pokemon are behaving very anxiously. ((Intuition or Edu: Pokemon for trainers only. Give me a focus roll from Mystery to see if he can communicate his feelings with words instead of interpreting for you.)) |

Shane & Flynn You are both feeling very uneasy about this fissure, and the ground beneath your feet. You feel unsteady on you feet, as if something is throwing off your balance, or something is very wrong with the ground. Both of your pokemon seem to have something to say... Bill Drawing on your studies of behavioral trends in pokemon of various ecosystems and their preemptive responses to changes in the environment you are able to recall that pokemon are able to sense and react to extreme environmental events prior to their occurrence and thereby avoid the dangers imposed by said events. More simply, pokemon can sense natural disasters on an instinctive level and tend to flee from disasters such as that. When unable to flee they tend to become agitated and anxious, although you can't remember exactly how they responded differently to each type of natural disaster... |

Shane goes over to Mystery and kneels down next to him, rubbing his back soothingly. He smiles at him reassuringly and nods, telling him that he's ready to hear whatever he has to say. However, discretion is the better part of valor and does retreat backwards away from the crack. |

Crap, just our luck. Some sort of natural disaster. Bill takes a few steps away from the shifting sand and the camp, motioning for Nikola to follow. "Guys, something is wrong. Something is majorly, water-retreating-for-miles-from-the -coast kind of wrong. I suggest we send our prayers to our deity of choice, because this might end badly. See how our Pokémon are this anxious? Yeah, they can sense something is about to happen, and it appears to be a moving sinkhole." |
