Alright so, I'm set to play Pokemon Tabletop United tommorow and I've made an Enduring Soul / Ace Trainer hybrid with the intention of picking up Signature Technique immediately after I qualify. My question is pretty simple - Focus Punch has this effect Effect: Use of Focus Punch must be declared as a Priority (Limited) action at the beginning of the round. Nothing happens at this time. At the end of the round, if the target hasn’t been hit by an attack dealing damage equal to at least 25% of the user’s Maximum Hit Points, the user may Shift and use Focus Punch. Focus Punch’s Frequency is not expended if it is negated by an attack. Signature Technique does this Signature Technique Prerequisites: Elite Trainer, Expert Command At-Will – Extended Action Target: Your Pokémon with at least 2 Tutor Points remaining Effect: The target loses 2 Tutor Points. Choose one Move on the Target’s Move List. That Move becomes the target’s Signature Technique, and you may apply one of the modifications on the next page to the Move. The Move being modified must fit the category of the modification, and you must have the associated Training Feature to apply a modification. A Pokémon may only have one Signature Technique at a time. If you choose to teach a Pokémon a different Signature Technique, the old one is lost, and 1 Tutor Point is refunded. 1 Tutor Point is also refunded if the Pokémon ever forgets a Signature Technique Move. If I happen to use this on Focus Punch Bloodied Speed – Agility Training: This Move may be used as Priority (Advanced) if the user has less than half of their maximum Hit Points. Does this mean that I can then slug someone with a Focus Punch immediately during turn shifts during a round, so long as I have uses left? I think it works this way, but I wanted to double check to be absolutely sure. Edit: When I am below half health, that is. Edited by StygianRose, May 8 2015, 09:53 PM.

This probably should have been posted in the general Q&A thread. To actually answer, it wouldn't go the way you think. It would do either one of two things: -Have absolutely no effect, because Focus Punch says "Use of Focus Punch must be declared as a Priority (Limited) action [...]", so the benefit of Bloodied Speed can't be used. -Instead of declaring Focus Punch as a Priority (Limited) action, you declare it as a Priority (Advanced) action, if your HP is low enough. This pretty much just means that you can shift when you declare it. It won't let you just deal damage with Focus Punch whenever you want at low HP because when you declare it, it just sets up to hit later, so even if Bloodied Speed allows you to declare it whenever you want, that won't allow you to deal damage with it until the end of the round. |
