I've been considering this for a while, and have finally decided, I want to start a project. I want to write a full-fleshed-out guide for a mildly-experienced DM to use for a long-term vanilla campaign.

I want to;
- Map all of the regions to date (Generation 6) and possibly update each generation.
- Provide suggested Pokemon and builds for routes and encounters.
- Provide plot-hooks and story elements for quests and adventures.
- Fleshed-out locations in a more realistic fashion than in the games.
- Provide reccomended homebrew expansions and ways to enrich gameplay.
- A new system for Gym Leaders so as to eliminate the linear routes (meaning players can vist Gyms in any order).

- Any other useful things for long-term games.

I'll be looking for people who're interested in getting involved, and will gladly credit the usernames (or real names) of any contributors.

This project was inspired by Slytherclaw's Geode Region Project.

That one is a really, really easy thing to solve. What I've done in my home-made region (especially since I haven't actually made any Routes to speak of really, just locations) is have the Gyms set their difficulty by the number of badges held by the challanger.

So all gyms will have a standard for how tough a challange to give somone fresh on the gym circuit or something aiming for their last badge of the region.

This is literally what my group is doing, except I'm prepping as we go rather than before it happens.
We are currently in celadon city, kanto and I have my note for previous things if you have specific questions for plot/how to make things fleshed out or expanded.

I think I still have some old things I could dig up to help you out with that- I'd be more than willing to try and collaborate!

This is essentially the one I'm thinking of going with.

I also had a more long-winded level-related system in mind but don't feel like using it when a badge-related level range is so much simpler.

---

@Itsy, I'm aware you were part of the Geode Region project and would be very happy to have your input.
@Hariku, I'm glad to have anyone who'd like to get involved :)

If there's anyone willing to share notes from their vanilla games, I'd love to read some.

If there's anyone who'd really like to get involved then PM me and I'll try to setup a place for us to communicate in real time. Feel free to suggest your preferred method (forum, skype, reddit etc)

---

I think my first task is to set out a plan for what steps I'll take. I.e. I want to create profiles for each location in each region then string the regions together somehow.

Also, in the interests of creating an anime-like pan-region adventure, I'm spawning a concept for level-reset when travelling to another region, so I'd probably appreciate opinions on that.

---

Finally, until summer starts, I'm going to be a busy bee, so I'm just pulling ideas and a crew together for now. Perhaps some small write-ups too if I get the time.

I had very little input into the Geode Region, actually- I did supply the Sanity System for them but I was at that time busy with other things and my computer had been acting up so my contributions weren't as much as I would have wished.

But yes, I would love to help- I prefer the forums since it's easiest for me to go back and read through conversations, but I can deal with Skype (the main reason I am not active on there is because it is difficult for me to go back and read the conversations in order to reply with all the information i need)

Okay, so, I've considered basing this splat (is that the correct term?) on a point in time about 3-10 years past the console games. Is that too much of a jump? What could I expect to have changed in that time?

Ideally, I want a resurgence of criminal Teams, pursuing their goals in new and exciting ways that reinforce (and are reinforced by) the tabletop platform.

Perhaps new developments in poketech? Such as some features of DPDoM?

OR should I stay truer to the games? Emulate the experience the main-series games provided?
