So here I am. In between Etrian Mystery Dungeon being released last month and basically taking over my life, and the crunch of finals and whatnot slowly encroaching upon me, I had very little time to play SoulSilver, much less write up a story about it. Thankfully, though, both of those have assuaged, with EMD being in the post-game and spring finals being now over. (Since I was working as a tutor on-campus, that puts me out of a job for about 3 months, but oh well.) And I'm making a reasonable pace with these too; I have written about half of Johto and managed to cast almost everyone from it as well. (There are a few people I haven't yet, but it shouldn't be too hard to cast those peeps.) tl;dr long story short blah blah video games and classes done IT BEGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS ~~~ DNA's Peon Kicks Ass and Takes Names in SoulSilver Chapter 0: Climbin' in yo' Windows, Snatchin' yo' People Up It was a night much like any other. I was standing out on the ramparts of the castle, high above the ground, watching the wispy clouds drift past. A cool breeze hung in the air, pushing the clouds, which occasionally obscured the brightness of the moon, being particularly full tonight. And, not twenty yards away from me, also standing on the ramparts, was a particular Gengar who was rudely flaunting his buttocks towards the white sky-circle. But for me, it was Tuesday. I excused myself to go inside after I heard Paulie scream incoherent insults, such as telling the Man in the Moon that he shines like a girl. I don't know how late it was, but the lights were either dimmed or turned off completely, and only the night watchmen were out in the halls at this point. All the trainers had since fallen asleep, so I believed. This was a good time for me to enter my study and catch up on a few small things. There was a folder open on my desk, and a few envelopes waiting for me in my mailing box. The folder I knew about since I put it there a few days ago, but the envelopes were new. I took a peek at the names of the recipients, recognized their purpose, and made a note to look at them later. Right now I pulled up my chair and paged through the file, which had a plastic bag taped to the front, in which was a small black cartridge, only an inch square. "All right, 'Andrew', let's see how you spent your time," I began. The first page certainly caught my attention, simply because his current party had two (out of four) shiny Pokemon. I had an idea of where that might lead, so I kept it in mind as I turned to the next page. And at that point, I started laughing. Thankfully the walls were soundproof. "Ha! Well done, Andrew. Nice job meeting a level 2 shiny Arceus on route 29...in a Master Ball," I guffawed as I kept reading. Of course, there were several others like that (at least 10), but that one was by far the most amusing, at least to me. "And he has 900 of every non-TM item, too. It almost feels like a shame to let this all go to waste. ALMOST." I closed the file, set it to my side, and pushed an intercom button on a speakerphone. "Denton?" "What is it, sir?" "Could you send Ray up to my study, please? And Azul also, if she is awake." "Of course, sir. Right away." I didn't hire Denton as a night secretary because he was fast. In fact, he was the exact opposite. But he was methodical, he was thorough, and he never tired. I'm not even sure how old he is. I think Cradily have really long life-spans or something. But, regardless, within a few minutes, Ray entered the room. "Nice to see you, Ray." "Nice to see you too, Boss. Azul's sleeping right now. I'm sorry I'm late; I had to tell Paulie to stop mooning the moon." "It's no worry. What I'm here about is the file I received recently." "Is this the one about the multi-dimensional excursion that Nyc was talking about?" "It's that one, yes. Consequently, I will be out of the castle for a while, as I see to this large undertaking." "Ah, then you're going to explore much like you and I did with Crumpets, through Hoenn?" "That's the gist of it, yes, except I will not be the main figurehead. She will." "She...? ...Does she know?" "No." "...not surprising. If memory serves, the last time you did that for her, that was also done with zero prior leads." "I've planned this all out; I know what I'm doing. As is custom, in our absence, you and Azul will be in charge of the castle. I don't know how long I'll be gone, but due to variable dimensional time constants, it may not be very long at all. I'll visit occasionally as well, when I'm able." "Will you need any of our help?" "I might. I'll contact you ahead of time if I know that's going to be the case. For now I just need to move quickly, and get us both to New Bark Town in the other's world right away. And I swear she's gained weight." "She hasn't, I promise you. It's remained relatively constant." "Ah right, the regimen you've been doing. It's working out well?" "Spectacularly. Even Hector has trouble keeping up, but we're in this together. Just don't be surprised when she wakes up either really late or really early." "I'd best keep that in mind, then. I should go; I can't waste too much time." "...Take care, Boss." "You as well, Ray." I folded up my files, took the envelopes I'd received to read on the way there, and locked up my study. Ray went back to whatever it was he was doing before (probably night watch duty, since he does that on even-numbered nights), Paulie didn't listen to him, and I had to pack up my things and leave quietly. Except I wasn't traveling alone this time, so my journey would be only about half as fast as if I were. And I'll need to be prepared for every eventuality if people get mad. Because they will get mad. They will get VERY mad. As Paulie the Cheshire Cat aficionado would say, "We're all mad here." ~~~ I know Chapter 0 is kinda short and doesn't say much (it's basically Prologue #2), but it's a buffer ready in place to set up the start of the story. ...while I write about 3 more chapters in the meantime while you're distracted by this one. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Oh, yeah, and I'm still casting peeps, so if any of you haven't called dibs yet/have a preference, let me know and I'll accommodate.) Edited by DNA, May 13 2015, 04:32 PM.

I totally meant to post this 2 days ago and it completely slipped my mind ~~~ [Back to Top] DNA's Peon Kicks Ass and Takes Names in SoulSilver Chapter 1: YOU!!! Have you ever had to carry 200 pounds of sleeping muscle mass on your back, and not make any sudden movements so as to not wake it up? It's not easy. Yet, it was a precision task that must be born in the name of lulz. ...She's gonna kill me. * DNA knocks on door * Woman opens door <Woman> who are you? <Woman> and do you have any idea what time it is? <!DNA> yes, and yes <!DNA> listen, I heard that there's a noob prof here doing some research <!DNA> who is basically looking for cheap child labor <!DNA> I need you to pretend that this girl here is your daughter <Woman> are you nuts!? <Woman> not only is that girl clearly larger than you, but you risk child services appearing at my doorstep <!DNA> I'll pay you well <Woman> I'm listening <!DNA> all you need to do is give her a room for the night, after which she'll be out of your hair <!DNA> she might occasionally stop by, and if that happens I'll pay you more <Woman> and how exactly are you going to pay me <!DNA> offer to save half of her earnings as a trainer on her behalf <!DNA> this will be more than enough money to cover the cost of this bribery <!DNA> and you can use any leftover money to treat yourself or her to something nice <!DNA> like care packages or some crap like that <Woman> tempting, tempting <Woman> okay, I accept your offer. The bedroom is right upstairs. It's the only other room in the house; you can't miss it I'm pretty sure that is actually what happens when the Johto protagonist asks the mom to save money. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. After leaving my hapless test subject to sleep, I slink off into the night to find a tree to sleep in or something. Then I pull out a DS and-- <ProfOak> Welcome to the world of Pokemon! --just start mashing the A button. It must have been the dimensional travel or something, because she woke up reeeeeeeeally late. Taking note of her surroundings, she first assumed that she'd been kidnapped - which isn't really incorrect. Her eyes darted around the room, trying to figure out where she was. It looked like some child's bedroom. There was a computer there, and she tried to access it to figure out her location. All that was there was an email that said "ADVENTURE! EXCITED! I love POKEMON!". That was no help, not even for Team Four Star. Thus, she went downstairs. <Woman> Hi, Ingrid! You're finally awake. <Ingrid> who are you <Woman> Your friend Nick was just here. <Ingrid> Nick who? <Woman> He was playing hide-and-seek with his Marill. <Ingrid> doesn't ring a bell <Woman> Oh, I almost forgot! Our acquaintance, Snowbear22, was looking for you. <Ingrid> seriously who ARE you <Woman> He said he had a favor to ask of you. <Ingrid> answer my questions you stupid woman <Woman> can't talk, being bribed <Ingrid> wait, what!? <Woman> By the way, do you have everything you need to go out? <Ingrid> yeah, righty and lefty <Woman> is that what you call your sweater puppies? <Ingrid> those are my FISTS! dammit what is wrong with you? <Woman> touchy aren't we? <Ingrid> no comment. <Woman> Here, use this Bag to carry things... <Ingrid> It's kinda small... <Woman> This is your Trainer Card... <Ingrid> Wait, am I stealing someone's identity? <Woman> Here you can save a record of your progress... <Ingrid> is this a Nintendo DS? <Woman> These are also rather helpful... <Ingrid> ...Options. Right, brilliant. <Woman> Just try touching the buttons, and you'll know what to do in no time. <Ingrid> I'm going to be leaving now... And thus Ingrid walked outside and noticed she was in the pristine small town of New Bark. And, just as I predicted, she let out a yell to the heavens. "DNA! YOU!!! Your ass is in so much trouble!" "You called, my charming pugilist?" "Don't you 'my charming pugilist' me; what the hell is this all about?" "If memory serves, I'm pretty sure that I lost a bet between you and Andy, and that I had to spend the next week or so with predominantly you." "And you did that by kidnapping me and bringing me to Johto?" "Well, it does ensure that none of the others will be around. Besides, it'll be like Kalos all over again." "Oh, no. No no NO NO NO. I am not going through a repeat of that again. No way." "Relax, I plan to break convention. This might actually be challenging. I've constructed a road map of all the places we can explore and hit up. It'll be cool! Johto is famed for its natural beauty." "If this doesn't pay off for me in the end, I am going to make sure you suffer for a very, very long time." "I wouldn't have it any other way. Now let's go sell a life insurance policy." "What?" "I mean convince the professor to give us a Pokemon." * DNA and Ingrid have joined #lab <!DNA> sup snowbear <Snowbear22> hey DNA, how goes? <!DNA> goes good. <Ingrid> Hello there, sir <Snowbear22> Hey...uh...you! <Ingrid> what? <Snowbear22> please don't hurt me <Snowbear22> DNA told me to give you a Pokemon or he'd kill my family <!DNA> I did not <!DNA> I initially told you to give her all 3 or I'd kill your family, but you managed to talk me down to just 1 <Ingrid> ...I do not condone threats <!DNA> liar <Ingrid> ...true... <Ingrid> anyway, which one should I pick? the fire mouse is probably the best, but I have a leaning towards the croc critter-- <!DNA> pick the helicopter plant <Ingrid> the what? <!DNA> I knew a guy who solo'd Heartgold using only a Chikorita <!DNA> and since I've never actually picked Chikorita before, I might as well <!DNA> and then name it in his honor. <Ingrid> are we going to solo it? <!DNA> no, but we are going to carry on the name legacy. <Ingrid> So, what was the guy's name? <!DNA> Pimpwalker. <Ingrid> ...you're kidding. <!DNA> You're right. His actual name was much longer but due to the 10-character limit we have to shorten it to Pimpwalker. <Pimpwalker> bruh I later learn from Snowbear that Mr Pokemon, the boy who cried Photoshop, swears he found something awesome, and 'this time it's real', when everyone knows it's just a Togepi egg. He wants us to steal the egg and bring it back for 'research'. Yeah right. Bacon and eggs, anyone? As we're about to leave, a nameless gofer gives us 5 Potions. Ingrid's OT ID is 10600 (not bad), Pimpwalker is Quirky and Capable of Taking Hits. I think we're off to an okay start. But outside the lab... <Nick> Ingrid! So you picked a Chikorita? <Ingrid> I kinda got coerced into i-wait, who are you? <Nick> some kid with a Marill, not much else <Nick> why don't you show that Chikorita to your mom? <Ingrid> why don't you dropkick that Marill? <Nick> ;-; <!DNA> hey that was mean <!DNA> say you're sorry <Ingrid> ...fine. I'm sorry that your Marill is perfect for kicking. <!DNA> ...close enough. The woman I bribed thinks the Chikorita is cute. I don't know how. I'm pretty sure it's just a weed reference waiting to happen. Then she gives Ingrid a Pokegear (with built-in GPS to stalk forever) and rants about how easy it is to make a phone call. It has the woman's and Snowbear's numbers registered already. We're in a bit of a hurry, so we try and rush through Route 29 as fast as we can, avoiding all the wilds due to the lack of Poke Balls. It's not easy due to the lack of Running Shoes. As we leave, I could have sworn I saw some white-haired boy peeking in the lab windows. He looked familiar but it couldn't have been...could it? We get through Route 29 with only 1 wild encounter, which was pretty odd. <Pimpwalker> a pidgey? <Pimpwalker> bruh I got this It took off half his HP bar, but he got it. Cherrygrove City is next, and the old man tour at the start is now mandatory. He also has running shoes, and proceeds to show them off. For an old man to run that fast is not natural. It must be some sort of crime nature for there to be fast old people. After his tour was done, he gave us his running shoes. They were still warm! Just kidding, he gave Ingrid a fresh pair. I got worried for a sec there. * Ingrid pushes the sprint button <!DNA> let's get it <!DNA> now on to route 30 chop chop <Old_Guy> WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT <Old_Guy> Hffp... hffp... I made it... I forgot to give you this map! <Ingrid> ah, thank you <Ingrid> now I know...which way north is... <Ingrid> uhhhhhh... <!DNA> let's just go <Old_Guy> nobody listens to me ;-; Route 30 is next, and Ingrid mistakes the first house for Mr Pokemon's house. The guy is so lonely since his house gets overshadowed, so as a token of gratitude, he gives Ingrid an Apricorn Box. He then goes back to being lonely and is never seen again. The first few Apricorns I see are green, so that will make Friend Balls convenient... <Pimpwalker> PIDGEY <Pimpwalker> I got this It took a little over half of his HP bar, but he got it. And he learned Razor Leaf. Neat. Moving on. <Mr_Pokemon> You must be Ingrid. <Ingrid> yeah I-OHMYGAH IT'S PROFESSOR OAK <ProfOak> YES. YES I AM. * ProfOak flex <Mr_Pokemon> ...no one likes me... <Mr_Pokemon> fine, I have to give you a thing * Mr_Pokemon gives Ingrid the Mystery Egg <Mr_Pokemon> I got this from a friend in Ecruteak <ProfOak> AND FROM ME <ProfOak> THIS POKEDEX <ProfOak> I GOT THIS FROM MYSELF <ProfOak> BECAUSE I MADE IT * ProfOak flex <!DNA> rip in peace Mr Pokemon's hopes and dreams <ProfOak> WHY LOOK AT THE TIME. I MUST NOW GO TO MY RADIO SHOW. <ProfOak> BUT FIRST, MY PHONE NUMBER. HERE YOU ARE. <ProfOak> NOW I MUST GO. MY PLANET NEEDS ME. * ProfOak flies out the window into the sky <Ingrid> ...wait, is he Professor Oak or Superman <!DNA> both <!DNA> now let's go find a taco stand so we can blow it up And now Snowbear is in trouble. Better see what he's crying about... <Pimpwalker> PIDGEY <Pimpwalker> I got this We seem to be running into a lot of those. Maybe we'll capture a bunch. But before that happens, plot. <Whitehair> ... <Whitehair> You got a Pokemon at the Lab. What a waste. <Ingrid> Look who's talking. White hair went out of style a long time ago. <!DNA> ...you are aware you have white hair too, right... * Whitehair smirks. <Whitehair> Fine. You, me. We'll fight, right now. <!DNA> You are challenged by Passerby Boy! And he has a Cyndaquil! Gasp! <Ingrid> I bet Snowbear22 thought that you sent Whitehair too... <!DNA> I somehow doubt this. But...he...no, there's no way... <Pimpwalker> CYNDAQUIL <Pimpwalker> bruh I got this He did. It was also easier than the Pidgeys. <Whitehair> Do you know who I am? <Ingrid> Now that you mention it... <Whitehair> I will become the best trainer ever. Even better than you. <Ingrid> Better than me? You really think that? <Whitehair> I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to him. The purple one, behind you. <!DNA> ... <!DNA> YOU!!! <!DNA> What are YOU doing here!? * Whitehair smirks. <Whitehair> That's for me to know, and for you to find out. * Whitehair has left #cherrygrove <Ingrid> DNA... <Ingrid> ...what was he doing here? <!DNA> I don't know... <!DNA> but I think we're going to find out. End of Chapter 1! DNA's Team So Far: |

Might've been. I named Pimpwalker after a friend of mine who solo'd HeartGold, yes, but that is all. Not really a person being cast as a Pokemon. |
