Hey, guys. Masterly, Anise, Gents, and I have been working on something that I thought the larger community would like to see. If you're not familiar with Pokemon Sage, it's an original fan-made pokemon game originating from 4chan. It's not actually out or complete yet, but they have finalized their pokedex (More or less), and all of the pokemon's stats and lore are up on a wiki for the world to see. A lot of them are actually really cool, and they did a good job of fitting their fakemons into that Sugimori-type style. If you want to take a look at the pokedex, you should check it out here.

Long story short, the pokemon are neat enough (And a GM gave us permission to possibly take fakemons as starters) that we decided to start a project to convert the pokemon from the CapX wiki and into PTU. It's not complete. Mostly we started with the ones we liked best and kept going until we got to the ones we weren't as enthusiastic about, so there are LOTS of holes, and we haven't done any of the legendaries, but we might go in and add more as the mood takes us.

Here's the link to where we've put up the list: http://paradoxhaze.wikidot.com/capxdex

In general the Sage devs based their original region off of central and south america. There are a lot of exotic birds of paradise, Poodle moths, pokemon based on latin-american cultural icons (There's a Pinata pokemon, a luchador pokemon, and a pokemon based on Calavera sugar skulls, for example), and other animals that would make sense for a latin-american setting. There are also others based less on latino iconography and more on general cool things they wanted to make pokemon out of, like a proper platypus pokemon, red pandas, gunfighters, Jackalopes, and Gnomes.

A couple fairly important things to beware of if you decide to use these pokemon in your campaign:

  • Pokemon Sage was designed as a standalone game. The pokemon weren't originally meant to interact with the canon mons. This leads to a lot of role redundancies, where a lot of Sagemons will emulate the roles of canon pokemon, and in many cases will do that job better than the canon option.
  • Pokemon Sage pokemon have, on the whole, RIDICULOUS movepools. Like, a huge chunk of pokemon have amazing type coverage. Like, Gen 1 good or better. For that matter, a lot of them also have excellent stats and are perfectly suited to using the stupidhuge movesets.
  • Not all Pokemon Sage pokemon are finished. Luchito Family, for example, essentially has no TM list, because the Sage devs haven't given it one yet. If a Sagemon's moveset seems lacking, that's probably the case.
  • Pokemon Sage comes with a suite of original moves, original abilities, and original capabilities. I GIVE NO GUARAUNTEE THAT THESE MOVES/ABILITIES/CAPABILITIES ARE BALANCED. They are designed to emulate what the move/ability apparently does in pokemon sage, which means that there are some moves that could be broken in a tabletop environment. I don't know which ones are broken or not, because this pokedex is not playtested. There are also some original abilities that we wrote up that weren't in Pokemon Sage. These are clearly marked with who wrote them, and they are equally not playtested.
  • Regarding Fairy Type: Pokemon Sage was started before Gen 6 happened. Fairy type didn't exist yet. Therefore, the pokemon Sage devteam did not add any fairy types in, nor did they balance it against the existence of fairy types. This isn't REALLY a problem, as spreading around Dazzling Gleam TM might be enough to give some pokemon at least enough coverage to be able to take advantage of Fairy. HOWEVER, several pokemon also have optional rules where we added fairy to their typing, and gave them some fairy moves in their levelup and tutor list for the sake of STAB. The following pokemon have Fairy variant rules if you so wish: Nurshary, Lintle family, Snome family.

Have fun, don't be afraid to ignore/fix/slap a bandaid on stuff if it's not working, and enjoy these neat original fakemons! :D We'll probably be a little slow in updating from this point on, just because we've already statted up all the pokemon we were REALLY enthusiastic about, but I'd like to at least get all the regular pokemon up. The Legendaries are a little more complicated, as those require BatD homebrew, but anything's possible!

Hmm, normally fakemon collections are pretty bad, but a cursory glance at this one makes me pretty excited about it. There are certainly those that I don't care for, but that comes with every batch of pokemon. Bookmarked, and looking forward to your progress!

Oh man, that's awesome. I'd been watching Sage version since the early "/vp/ makes a pokedex" threads, and as the campaign I'm working on's setting is based on Central America I was thinking of grabbing a couple of these and tweaking them to the PTU system myself to surprise the players, now I don't really have to. I'll definitely have to make use of this.

I think they have updated pokémon sage statuses and the PTU ones don't match anymore (or maybe were never meant to match). Since I'm fixing them to my campaign (their second league), I thought I could help over there (but I have no permission). XD
