Yes because the mon fainted. Doesn't matter the reason. Otherwise it would be easy to abuse |

If you didn't, you'd just explode the pokemon every time it was near death in order to avoid having to worry about it dying. |

I'd make exception like "once per two towns" for Voltorb/Electrode. Because exploding is part of their life cycle, and not death. *edit* and it have to be over 50% hp before exploding. Edited by Nekomimi, Feb 12 2015, 07:23 AM.
