[To start, I checked with Cast for which forum this would work in, since it's not recruiting players on either end, and he said this was fine.] If you are in my Geode Region Campaign, I ask that you please leave this thread! Honor system, please! Hello! My name is Sly, and I am currently the GM for the Geode Islands PTU game. I am reaching out to the PTU community, new and old, to see if I can find some interested individuals who would consider helping me with a pet project I've been working on! The setting I have for my campaigns is one that is large, detailed, and has a lot of fun things to do and explore. In addition to two islands spotted with five cities and a few dozen towns and villages, it's got a safari, 12 total gyms, mountain ranges, rivers, forests, a pokemon league, a trio of tiny islands with huge caverns that can only be accessed underwater topped with lands only reachable from the air, and an entire region sized island that is designated as unexplored including lots of 'dungeony' areas such as more caves, plenty of forests, some ruins, and a mysterious valley covered in ice. That's just the geography itself. The region also has a native peoples, overarching plotlines that include two different criminal organizations, the potential for a civil war plot, religious involvement, a military system, and locations such as a hidden ninja village, a self-sufficient town that eschews the use of pokemon, a huge starting capital city, a huge industrial city with warring gangs, etc etc etc. I like to think I'm ambitious when it comes to this project, but it's a pet project that I'd really like to see to the end. With all the involvement that has been going into its design, however, I've decided that I don't want this region to be a one shot setting that runs its course and is then lost to whatever. I've decided that in addition to developing this setting for the campaigns I'm running, I would ideally like to turn this campaign into a full adventure module that can be utilized by new GMs who want to run a campaign of some kind, but find the idea of putting together a full setting daunting--similar to how Wizard put out Hoard of the Dragon Queen for newbie D&D DMs to run straight from the book. I want to create a series of PDFs that a newbie DM can download, read over, and immediately run--adding, subtracting, and changing details as desired, but with a strong base to go off of. I know that there is a Kanto project in the works of something similar, but my goal is a setting that is slightly more vanilla and based off of the core and splatbooks, with most homebrew being optional and kept in a splatbook of some kind full of optional mechanics that would include everything from the 100+ homebrewed pokeball list I have and hope to expand on to homebrewed systems for working jobs, selling pokemon, selling pictures, overleveled pokemon captures, etc. I personally put a lot of time into this project almost daily, and am realizing that for every piece I finish, there are dozens more that need to be worked on. I also realize that other perspectives and ideas would probably bring a lot of new life to the world, preventing towns from becoming gimmicky copies of each other as I potentially run out of ideas on how to spice them up. Therefore, I am looking for a group of people who would be interested in helping me with this project. I am looking for people interested in helping with things such as but not limited to: world building basics (town designs, gym ideas, determining which pokemon should be found on which routes, mapping, etc), NPC building (ideas for quick NPCs, detailed important NPCs, a collection of tokens to drop as needed), plot development, etc. Someone who would just be interested in joining a group chat and discussing different ideas, offering up details on on-going development, etc, is also welcome. Someone working on the project would also be welcome to help me co-DM the current campaign being run in this setting if they would like to see any of it in action, but that's completely optional. You don't have to have a lot of strong experience with the game in order to be involved, as a lot of this is basic world building. However, experience would be nice, since you will probably have different types of ideas based on what you've seen in the past. If you are a newbie to the system who is interested in trying to GM, you're welcome to join in planning and try to run the game once it develops further. If you think you might be interested in any sort of way, please let me know! I stalk the forums frequently, and will probably respond quickly here, or you are welcome to add me on Skype as (Slytherclaw, Sly [PTU DM] as the current name). If there is anything that I haven't explained well enough, please feel free to ask me here or on Skype, and I will do my best! To show that I am serious, and this isn't just a silly dream, here are a few examples of what I have done. I'm not posting everything for the sheer fact that I have players on this forum and I don't want to tempt them! I've attached a write up for the starting city that includes a few of the small money based mechanics I've written up, and the store inventory charts I have written up for that same city. The world map is too small to upload directly, but can be found here.Any other information I'd be happy to provide in a less public setting, as I'd like to not tempt spoilers. x3 Again, if you have any interest, please let me know! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! |

Hey! I'm doing something... similarish. But anyway, as someone who generally only runs campaign in homebrew regions, I would be more than happy to help you out! |

Yay! I appreciate it. Do you have a Skype that I can add you on? c: At the moment, I'm thinking about using a subreddit for development, just so I can manage to post and store all the stuff I already have/that develops as we go, but I figured Skype is pretty good for discussion? |

I'd be very eager to get involved. Homebrew stuff is one of my big interests as an aspiring games designer/programmer. I spend a lot of time trying to work with all sorts of projects. For example, I have a file on my PC in which I'm trying to apply 'Pokemon Burst' mechanics to PTU. I feel that just because something wasn't popular, it shouldn't be ignored as a feature of the universe. While I probably wouldn't do any 'co-DMing' because I'm unfamiliar with the 'etiquette' (for lack of a better word). Skype is good for me, as is a subreddit. Username: p.a.e._the_boss I'm not the greatest at balance stuff, and personally, I don't believe things need to be perfectly balanced all the time. I'm best at dynamic stuff and power-to-the-players type mechanics. EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm running a Homebrew region in my One Man's Trash game. The setting is a very poor setting for the most part, and the players are still getting used to it. BUT I'd probably like to start a similar project once the game has somewhat progressed/concluded. Partly because I want to test and solidify certain mechanics and feature and partly because I don't want to spoil the game for any players who might be too curious for their own good. EDIT 2: I have begun reading and reviewing some of your notes, they're quite comprehensive. TL:DR - Sign me up. Edited by PAE_The_Boss, Jan 15 2015, 04:36 AM.

I've run one completed PTU game in a steampunk universe (that ended with a giant robot punching Regigigas/Cthulhu in the face) and am currently running an ongoing PTU game in a more traditional pokemon technology level in a homebrew region. I would be happy to help out, although due to studying abroad, I am not quite as free as I would like to be, but definitely PM me. I am on here often enough that I'll see it and can respond. I like nothing more than helping out people with worldbuilding/plot hooks/mission design/role of legendary mon and this sounds like a lot of fun. |

Ahh, wow. I'm so excited to have so many responses! I'm just starting class for the morning, so I don't have the time right now to make a longer response, but I've accepted all the skype messages I've received and will do my best to respond in a more detailed manner over lunch/at 3-4ish when I'm done with class for the day! |

Judging by his local time, he's not going to have lunch for another 2 hours yet and wont be free for around 6 hours. Those of us who're getting involved might as well get networked, seeing as there will be long downtime periods. |
