Hmm how's this. Umbra Pokemon have an auto Loyalty 3, theres no type change, stats will be changed by a +2 to all, and many will attempt a Coup de Grace to a fainted opponent |

That sounds reasonable and believable. |

But if a player uses a snag machine to take one it'll be a regular pokemon since they've lost their connection to the Umbra Ball with a loyalty of 1 standard for freshly caught wild pokemon. |

Um, Loyalty for newly-caught mon is actually usually set around 2. And given the circumstances that the Umbra mon were rescued from, I'd actually raise that loyalty a bit to 3. Loyalty 1 is for mon that were captured in a manner that was completely and utterly unfair to them or they were mistreated in some manner. It also means that you have to use a Command check to get them to do what you want every time you battle with them, until you manage to raise their loyalty somehow. |

Let me revise a little. My last comment was a mistype. Edited by ColeMason, Jan 10 2015, 04:23 PM.

I put loyalty 1as a mistake I meant 2. But maybe 1 due to the Umbra Mon's personal experience with humans. Though I will consider that being saved would increase their loyalty a bit to 2. Part of me though wants players to actually build bonds. |

The point I was making is that 2 isn't standard for newly-caught wild mon either, 3 is. Loyalty 2 means that you have to make a DC 8 command check for the mon to obey your commands every turn, and unless you're actually investing edges in building that up, it's not a skill that everyone takes, and thus not a check some players are going to be able to do reliably. Or at all if they have Pathetic Command for whatever reason. |

Um...no, Lockdown, Loyalty 1 is a DC 8 Command check. Loyalty 2 doesn't need a check, but won't Intercept. |

Ah. I see. I stand corrected on that front then. |
