Tristan smiles charmingly as the father concedes the battle. "It's confusing, I agree. Fairies are pretty resilient, that's how I remember it. Only Poison and Steel moves are really hurtful to them."

"What'd you think of the battle, mister?" he says to the kid. "Your Lillipup was quite ferocious! I expect you'll be quite the trainer some day," he finishes with a wink. "Growth is all about careful practice and patience, whether it's as a trainer or in the garden."

That was something he'd noticed during this battle, too. Otto had really surprised him with his Razor Leaf. It made him think. He needed to do less demanding and directing and more encouraging and guiding with his Pokémon. Maybe they'd continue to surprise him. Just like with plants, it seemed like the most important job was creating the optimal conditions for the flower to bloom in.

#Tristan retrains Coordinator and Decisive Director to Guidance and Latent Potential.

Waving goodbye to the father and son duo, he heads by the PokéCenter to heal up his Pokémon.

While he's sitting in the waiting room, he leafs through the announcements on the local board. One of them was a tabloid announcement about this "Mr. Pruitt" he'd heard about this morning. Apparently, that had been Lorne. He'd even stolen Tristan's whispering from the market yesterday, too funny. Lorne had been the fall guy for whatever NanoKlink had been up to, though. He'd have to check into that soon.

Suddenly, a nurse rushes out to get his attention. "Come quick! One of your Pokémon! It's evolving!" she says, out of breath.

Tristan rushes back into the recovery room, and spots a glowing shape on one of the beds. It was Lolo! His shape began to grow, and he became larger and more humanoid, his lily pad sombrero still ever-present.

<<Bing>>! his Pokédex went.

"Lombre, the Jolly Pokémon. Lombre is a playful trickster. If it spots an angler, it will tug on the fishing line to interfere."

"Wow," Tristan exclaimed. "I'm really impressed! That battle must've done you right, huh?" he says with a smile.

"You want to try another?" Tristan asks with a mischievous smile. Lolo nods vigorously, his lily pad shaking to and fro. "I'll figure something out for us," he says with a wink.

<<To: Lorne>>
Hey buddy, you okay? Saw the news today. Way to steal my line. Anything I can help with?

Lorne checks his Pokédex, seeing a notification. He's surprised to hear back from Tristan after Hugo ruined the poor guy's evening.

<<To: Tristan>>
Wouldn't call it stealing, exactly. Inspiration, maybe. I'm at the gym plotting revenge. If you want to help, I'm sure we can find something for you to do.

Nice job with the Stun Spore last night, btw.
<<End Dext>>

"Oh good, I've found another potential recruit," Lorne announces to the others, totally unaware they're all connected, coincidentally. "Not sure what he can do, but he seems clever enough, from what I can tell."

I think "hoisted by his own petard" is appropriate here. Some other guy's too, I guess.

And interesting. I'll stop by. If nothing else, it might be a good chance for a battle. I'd heard the leader was a Water type user. Should be cake.

#He said not knowing about OMG OCTILLERY

Setting up a few shifts in his roster via his Pokédex, Tristan heads toward the Gym.

Ziggy listens as River explains everything the others learned last night, with a lot of "Hmmmm"s and head nodding. When she is done, he speaks again. "Well, it sounds like they have all the pokemon information down there in Mucklecoma, and as far as I have seen the professor always knows what he is talking about. That could be our best bet for tracking this Gengar."

Ziggy ponders some more "Mucklecoma... why does that ring a bell... oh right! I have a show coming up there, I don't suppose that could be helpful in any way?"

River nodded at Ziggy. "That's a good point - ALL of the Pokemon information is in Mukilcoma. What if we're wrong and the Gengar isn't associated with NanoKlink, or not listed in their files precisely because it's used to attack people? Do we want to risk getting caught and have nothing to show for it? That would be...very bad."

"And let's say you do find a Gengar connected to NanoKlink. What's to say it's the same Gengar that attacked River? Was there anything particularly unique about this one?"

Lorne thinks he might have a chance at getting in to Mukilcoma, but it would involve one of the things he dreads most... an apology. So if that's going to happen, he wants to have confidence in this plan.

Semira pipes up, finally finding herself helpful. "It was holding a pendant!" She pauses, realizing she's probably a little too excited right now. "Sorry. It was holding a special pendant that very few people have. It empowers the move Hypnosis, making it hit an area and giving it perfect accuracy. Another reason why this Gengar is especially nasty."

River looks at the group. "So....what's the plan? Striking NanoKlink now seems a little too risky. Should we try to gain access to the PC System in Mukilcoma and then investigate the witch? Or take the boat to the witch first?"

After walking for a while, Tristan enters the Rainshadow City Gym. Oddly, he doesn't seem to see the gym leader around, but spots a woman with dyed-blue hair who looks somewhat official.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for a friend," Tristan begins. "His name is Lorne. Have you happened to see him recently?"

Tristan:
"Oh, yes! He just battled River. They're chatting in her office now," Cascade said, gesturing to the door.
