#Flashback

Ziggy couldn't wait to be out of the cave. Not being able to practice music... he needed to unwind. Ziggy rolls up some budew and smokes it. Then it was time for band practice, that is what he missed the most in the cave. He was so happy to be back with Metalhead they started jamming together, Ziggy plugs into Amp to really crank it up. Loudmouth starts singing "whi... whii...WHIII.... LOUD....." and there is a flash of light. Lucifer is so excited he starts dancing around to the beat, he seemed to be getting the hang of the music quickly. The flash of light grows around loudmouth "LOUD... LOUDRED!!!!" He was bigger, and what a voice! He stomped the ground as he sang. In place of his ears there were two speakers, blasting out more sound. Ziggy laughed "I never thought he could get any louder." Then he just kept getting louder. Thankfully he was facing away from the band, as his voice grew several trees nearby had their bark fly off from the impact.

As they played along, Tympole hopped around in the puddles, overjoyed at all the rain and lovely puddles around. Dancing in a frenzy, the little pokemon was standing on it's tail! Then, it began to split in two into legs. Light flashed all around in the water. Little stubs of arms grew out of the torso. It seems that the water pokemon was responding well to the new habitat.

The whole band felt refreshed after some great rest and relaxation. They entered the city, ready for new adventures

Tristan approaches the market happily, drinking in all of the bustling noises and busy sights greedily. Now THIS was a city. Unlike small-town Pokane, Rainshadow City actually held a candle to his hometown in Unova. It still wasn't quite as big, but few were as big as Castelia City.

The density, the life, the vibrancy... this is what he had been missing since arriving in Kadia. The natural beauty was breathtaking--they didn't have mountains quite like the ones here back home in Unova--but cities held a different kind of beauty all their own.

Looking around, Tristan spotted some of the shops he'd seen on his 'dex: Shaymin's, Hugo's, the Poffin Shop, and "ACCESSORIZE NOW!". Rather than dart directly toward one, he simply stopped to enjoy the vibrancy of the place a bit, looking around with a smile on his face. Maybe he'd be inspired about which to go in first. Cordy looked around eagerly from her vantage point in his breast pocket, and Floette (bashful as she was) peeked out from behind his ear.

Tristan
Pika Place Market has a long roof covering the booths while the sides are open air, a necessity in a rainy city like Rainshadow. And since it was still drizzling today, inside the market was absolutely packed. He and Cordelia couldn't see much other than signs and heads, but Ruby had a slightly better vantage point. Tristan could tell she had spotted something down at Hugo's booth, and she looked uncharacteristically...irritated? But his gut told him that navigating this crowd would be difficult, so perhaps he should just go in order, and then backtrack later if he had to. Not like he minded a bit of window shopping anyway.

The closest booth was the Poffin Shop. He could see a large Poffin Mixer, kind of a mix between a smoothie machine and a large Easy Bake Oven, and some premade Poffins laid out. "Hello there!" happily calls the plump woman in a Pokeball dotted apron behind the booth. "Interested in some Poffins? They're 500 Pokeyen a piece. Or supply your own berry, and get two freshly made Poffins for the price of one!" He notices they don't have ingredient berries for sale, but he's positive he could find them somewhere else in the market.

#Shaymin's is next, then Hugo's

"Don't worry Ruby, we'll check it out eventually. Let's start over here and work our way in," Tristan days as Ruby seems to notice something down the way.

Entering the Poffin shop, he responds to the woman calling out to him. "Yes, actually! I brought my own berries too! Completely homegrown. Although I may need to stop by again once I've grown a few more."

Tristan pulls out two Chesto berries he'd been saving, and walks up to one of the machines. "Could you walk me through the process? This will produce four poffins, right?"

Tristan
"Oh, it's super easy! Just pop those two berries in the top and I'll put in the other ingredients, then push that button. After a couple of minutes you'll have 4 fresh Beauty Poffins for only 1000 Pokeyen!"

Tristan puts his Chesto Berries in the chute up top, then lets the sales lady get to work adding the other ingredients after he gives her the Pokéyen.

"You may have the honors, Cordy! These tasty treats are for you, after all!" Tristan says as he encourages the little Budew to reach forward and press the button. She hops onto his hand, and gently presses the button with the tip of her bud. The machine begins to whir and churn, and after a few moments, out pop four perfectly-formed violet Beauty Poffins.

"Aren't they gorgeous?" Tristan asks her as he brings the tray of poffins closer to her level. Cordelia looks absolutely entranced with them, and looks up at Tristan for approval. He nods sagely, giving her a wry smile at the end.

Almost comically, she begins devouring the Poffins -- all four of them! Funnily, their combined mass is very clearly more than that of Cordelia herself. Tristan laughs and looks to the saleslady and Ruby, one of which is looking on in horror at the less-than-beautiful devouring of Poffins. Ruby giggles on Tristan's shoulder.

All of a sudden, Cordelia stops eating and looks up at Tristan with a worried expression. Her bulb has grown nearly twice in size from devouring all of the food, and she slowly shifts from looking at Tristan to looking up toward the tip of her bud. Slowly, elegantly, the bud begins to unfurl in a riotous bloom of crimson and indigo. "Oh my, Cordy! Are-- are you evolving? It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!" Tristan exclaims. The saleslady seems to be somewhat upset with the ruckus Cordelia is causing as a small crowd seems to be forming near them.

A look of contentment passes over Cordelia's face, and her body is soon engulfed in a soft white light. Her form alters subtly, growing up and out until two appendages are apparent, then a head, and then finally two legs twisting together at the bottom of her shape. The light fades and her new form is revealed -- Roselia!

"Your blooms are stunning, Cordy!" Tristan exclaims as he bends down and picks up the foot-high Pokemon, giving her a small hug. A sheen of dew covers Cordelia, and she deftly shakes herself off in Tristan's arms before opening her eyes for the first time in her new shape. The water has lightly dusted Tristan, but in a pretty way, not a drenching one. Little droplets bead up and slick off easily. At the sight of the two of them, the saleslady seems to be calming down, now watching the situation with awe.

#Cordelia gains the Advanced Ability Beautiful.

A smile on her face, Cordelia raises her bloom-hands and tiny leaves fly out from all around her, preternaturally finding an elegant place to land on each person watching the scene. A few people start examining the leaves, and they all appear to be perfectly formed, and glowing softly.

#Cordelia learns the Move Magical Leaf.

Holding Cordelia in one arm, Tristan delicately removes a leaf where it had lodged in his breast pocket where Cordelia used to perch. He sets Cordelia down again gently, and kneels to her level, still holding the leaf. "Want to give 'em a small show?" Tristan muses, the crowd still watching them. Cordelia nods approvingly. "Follow my lead," he says, indicating the leaf. Holding it such that the thin edge is up against his lips, Tristan blows air over the leaf at varying intensities until a small melody is produced. Soon, Cordelia takes a leaf for herself and begins playing along. As she plays, motes of green light begin to form in the air, drawn in to the flower Pokemon. Meanwhile, Ruby has closed her eyes and is enraptured with the tinny music coming from the leaves, an intense hopeful look crossing her face. Several approving nods are seen from the crowd, and a baby held by a nearby man seems to begin drifting off.

Soon enough their melody is finished, and the motes of light begin to fade. The crowd begins to clap quietly, so as to not wake the baby. The two of them take a small bow and exchange a smile while Ruby comes out of her reverie. They were meant for performance!

Kylar couldn't take his eyes off River. It wasn't that he was attracted to her. The way she moved, her positive demeanor despite the obvious frustrations, and those tattoos. Those things were some of the most badass works of art Kylar had seen. That Gyrados. It literally swam on her arm. The Octillery... each tenticle free flowing off the head with such grace. The contrast of color in them. Kylar was impressed. He had only ever gotten one tattoo. Ziggy smooth talked him into it. Kylar didn't like to talk about it because it reminded him of his darkest time.

"River?" Kylar asks curiously, "The names Kylar. I'm with the Rangers. I'm actually here on business. Stan Davage has contracted myself and my team to track Skrelp for him. Specifically, males who know Camoflague. I, unfortunately, am not too familiar with their migration patterns or their habitats, and I haven't been classified as a Top Ranger so my database access is limited. I was hoping you could help me, as I work on my own personal database addition to the dex."

Tristan:
#That was beautiful
The crowd claps for a couple more moments, then slowly starts to to dissipate. "Well that was quite some advertisement for my Poffins, thanks!" the plump lady says with a laugh. Cordelia had put on a beautiful show indeed, captivating anyone lucky enough to be able to see.

"Hey, guy with the Roselia!" yelled a female voice. When Tristan turns, he sees an Asian lady with a bob cut and nose ring waving him over under the Shaymin's Helper sign. "That was awesome! AND Roselia was our Pokemon of the Day! Get your butt over here!"

Everything seemed to be coming up roses for Cordelia, so to speak.

"Thanks for your help! Happy to endorse a quality product, aren't we Cordy?" Tristan says with a smile to the Poffin lady, before turning toward the woman with the nose ring.

"Wow, really?" he says as he ambles toward the stall with Cordelia and Ruby in tow. "What luck! And yeah, it was pretty awesome, wasn't it?" he says proudly with a glance toward Cordelia. She'd grown up fast since coming to Kadia.

Stepping into the shop, Tristan follows the woman's lead as he takes a look around.

Kylar
As Kylar's admiring River's sweet tattoos, he notices a couple more things: One, the room behind her is an absolute disaster area. Plates, coffee cups, discarded Potions bottles and all sort of clutter is stacked up on every surface. There's a couch that has a fuzzy blanket that it looks like River was just cocooned in, and the TV screen was paused on what looks like America's Next Top Pokemon Model. It was all Mandy's fault that he recognized it at all.

The other main point was that River's eyes seemed red. Was she stoned? This was Rainshadow after all. But maybe she had been crying? Kylar was so bad at this kind of stuff, who knew.

"Oh, Skrelp. There's a Pokemon most people don't ask me about," she said, a little impressed, though her voice still sounding weary. "Most people don't care about a Pokemon unless it's cute, or super strong... Heck, some people don't care enough about any Pokemon to ask." She wandered over to the aquarium glass, looking down at the bottom of the water introspectively for a moment, until she pointed.

"See that?" As Kylar looked, he could see the entire ocean floor was covered in kelp, swaying in the water like grass in the wind. "Kelp is everywhere, since it's the food source for any herbivorous Pokemon or animals. Skrelp are small and a tasty snack to larger beasts, so their only chance of survival is hiding. Any Skrelp that blended in better was more likely to survive, so after millions of years of evolution they have the perfect camouflage. ...Er, not Pokemon evolution, biological evolu...oh, never mind, I'm being a nerd..." she trailed off, self conscious.

"The trick is that Skrelp look like rotten kelp, not healthy kelp. Because camouflage isn't helpful if some herbivore accidentally comes by and chomps on you. So the trick is to look for rotten kelp. The males will be there, since they tend the eggs. Though they're incredibly good at hiding, not just from their camouflage...and the males can get aggressive when disturbed, just as a warning." It seemed like chatting about the biology of the Water Pokemon was cheering her up a bit, though she still looked weary.
