"Ohhhh, flattery will get you no discounts," Ruby said with a wink and the kind of cheery smile that showed this wasn't true at all. Her eyes glitter with joy as she sees the adorable little Fairy Pokemon. "Oh, Ruby Two! Ohehe, how delightful, what an excellent choice in name. Pleased to meet you," she said, offering a wrinkled finger for a handshake.

As you lay out your wares in front of Ruby, she snaps to focus and fishes out a jewler's magnifying glass to take a better look. "Hmm, hooo," she hums, turning over the pieces in her hands with a critical eye. Tristan guesses that each nugget had to be worth at least 3000 Pokeyen, but maybe more...or maybe less; he had never exactly come across a solid gold nugget before. As he waits for her verdict and looks around the shop, he notices all sorts of goodies up for sale: shards of every color, evolutionary stones, Type Gems, jewelry for Pokemon and Trainer alike, and even what looks to be a couple of fossil Pokemon - but he doesn't recognize what Pokemon they might have been.

At the mention of Opal's name, her head pops out from the back room. "Oh, hi!" She looks exhausted, but fueled on caffeine. "Long time no see. Ruby, this is one of the men who helped me out in the Pass. ...I may have promised them a 10% Friends of the Store discount."

"Oh did you?" Ruby asks with a jokingly suspicious glare. "Well you friend here has quite the haul. I was starting to think he may have mugged you to get this much, but maybe I should hire him instead, hehe!" Her eyes twinkled mischievously as she turned back to Tristan. "I'd give you 3000 for the Fire and Dawn stones, another 3000 for all the shards...oof, these are quite some nuggets. Because you made my day with Ruby Two here and are a friend of Opal...I can give you 4000 per nugget. But no more, don't get greedy!" she said with a grandmotherly wink.

Jonathan:
"A chef? Cool! How about I give you the recipe if you win?" she says with a wink. Clover plucks two Pokeballs from her belt and rolls them idly in her hand. "Ready when you are." Clover looks poised to throw out her Pokeballs at the same time as Jonathan.

#I promise she'll use the same Pokemon no matter what you pick, just don't want PCs to always have the extra advantage of being able to react to what NPCs throw out because of the nature of PbP.

Kylar is startled by the banging on the door. He answers the door, rubbing his eyes, when he sees the delivery kid. "Oh man. I completely forgot I ordered. Kylar pays the delivery kid and takes the delicious pizza to his small bedside desk. "Pineapple and BBQ chicken. A Stern delicasy."

Kylar splits the pizza with Knuckles. "Alright Knuckles, we need to go see the Gym Leader first. He is the expert on water pokemon." Kylar gathers his belongings and equips his new Goggles by placing them on his head. Kylar locks his room and heads to Rainshadow City Gym.

Kylar
Kylar strides down to the waterfront, proudly wearing his new night vision goggles on his head. In any other city this may have seemed a bit odd, but on the streets of Rainshadow he looked surprisingly normal by comparison.

Like most towns, it was easy to find the Pokemon Gym. Though this one was positively huge compared to Heather Huckleberry's little barn back in Pokane. It was near Pika Place Market, literally right on the waterfront. A huge metalwork Wailord sign hung across the main entrance, with "Rainshadow City Gym" etched across.

As Kylar entered, he was blown away. The bottom half of the Gym was beneath sea level, with a huge glass window giving a view of the bay. It was hard to tell what was swimming in it from this far away, but people were clearly watching some Water Pokemon.

But the top half was something else entirely - a bustling coffeehouse. Dozens of people filled cozy seats while drinking their lattes and browsing their Pokedexes. Through the large glass windows on this top level, he could see the Gym's arena - it seemed to be made of metal grating and hung over the water itself. Kylar presumes the people in the coffee shop would usually be there to watch Pokemon battles, but one doesn't seem to be happening right now.

"Welcome to the Rainshadow City Gym," says a helpful concierge at the entrance, spotting Kylar looking around. "May I help you?"

Ruby One

"Ohhhh, flattery will get you no discounts," Ruby said with a wink and the kind of cheery smile that showed this wasn't true at all. Her eyes glitter with joy as she sees the adorable little Fairy Pokemon. "Oh, Ruby Two! Ohehe, how delightful, what an excellent choice in name. Pleased to meet you," she said, offering a wrinkled finger for a handshake.

Ruby Two looks bashful and tickles the outstretched finger lightly with her flower in response. She's a little shy, and balks at the attention. "Flo...ette?" she seems to ask Tristan, looking for a small sign that the woman was okay. "Don't worry Ruby, she's nice. Her name is Ruby too! Also? As well? You get it," he says with a wry smile.

The Shop

As he waits for her verdict and looks around the shop, he notices all sorts of goodies up for sale: shards of every color, evolutionary stones, Type Gems, jewelry for Pokemon and Trainer alike, and even what looks to be a couple of fossil Pokemon - but he doesn't recognize what Pokemon they might have been.

Evolutionary stones. They'd be important for his Pokemon, he knew. Cordelia would need a Shiny stone to eventually become a Roserade, and Floette could use one to become a Florges. He had a feeling she wasn't quite ready for that step, though. Further, Bella could use a Leaf Stone OR a Sun Stone to evolve, and Flora would react to a Sun Stone as well. Even little Lolo the Lotad used a Water Stone to finish evolving. Evolving his Pokemon would be... expensive.

Ruby One & Opal

At the mention of Opal's name, her head pops out from the back room. "Oh, hi!" She looks exhausted, but fueled on caffeine. "Long time no see. Ruby, this is one of the men who helped me out in the Pass. ...I may have promised them a 10% Friends of the Store discount."

"Oh did you?" Ruby asks with a jokingly suspicious glare. "Well you friend here has quite the haul. Because you made my day with Ruby Two here and are a friend of Opal...I can give you 4000 per nugget. But no more, don't get greedy!" she said with a grandmotherly wink.

"I think that's a really generous offer!" Tristan says, playing to her good side and in all honesty genuinely surprised at the value of these stones and shards. "I'll take it! That comes to... wow... 25,000 Pokeyen in total. The guys will certainly be pleased!"

Tristan takes an obvious look around the place before speaking again. "I'd love to take a look around your beautiful shop too. Any specialties of the house? My Pokemon will need evolution stones eventually too, actually. Although maybe not quite today. They still have some learning to do first," he finishes with a wink.

Tristan:
Ruby counts out the thick stack of Pokeyen she owes and hands it over to Tristan. "Specialties? Why of course, who am I to deny you giving my money back," she said with a wink. Ruby hopped from her chair and started to gently steer Tristan to one of the display cases. "We have a couple Everstones and Eviolites, not many places carry those. Perhaps an Eviolite stone will help you out, if you're waiting until evolving your Pokemon."

She pointed to another part of the case, this part filled with jewelry and accessories: earrings, necklaces, rings, cufflinks, you name it. "But maybe you'd be more interested in something to go with your nice clothes? Or to give your Pokemon an extra something? Many of these stones have special properties...or at the very least, their beauty alone can charm some people as if it were magic!"

"Oho! How could I forget!" She rotated Tristan to show him a final case. It was the one full of fossils he had noticed earlier, though now he could get a closer look. One particular fossil caught his eye - it looked like a large root of some sort of plant. "Fossil Pokemon. My prized possessions. Very very valuable, and thus very very expensive...but worth it if you want something special."

Kylar
"Well she is certainly the local expert on Water Pokemon," the concierge explains with a soft chuckle. "River isn't taking challengers today, she's a bit...under the weather," he said with a hint of concern. "But Ranger business must be important, and I know talking about Water Pokemon always cheers her up. Let me show you to her office."

He leads Kylar down the flight of stairs to the aquarium level. Kylar finally gets to walk along the huge wall of glass, and the view is amazing. The whole wall is below the water level of the bay, and he can see a whole slew of Pokemon in the wild: Clamperl and Krabby across the sea floor, schools of Remoraid and Goldeen swimming about, the odd Tentacool that lazily floats by. A group of school children get particularly excited as a Wailmer floats into view. Kylar supposes there must be Skrelp hidden among the lawn of kelp at the bottom, but he doesn't spot any.

"River?" The man knocks on an unmarked door. "You awake? I know you said not to bother you, but there's a Ranger here who has some questions about Water types..." For a moment you hear silence, but then something begins to stir and bump around. You hear a mumbled "coming..." and a second later the door opens. River looks like she's in her late 20s, with a lithe toned body. Her long hair with thick bangs is a dark dark blue, and her black tanktop reveals that both of her arms are completely covered in water Pokemon tattoos. A pretty fantastic Gyarados ink wraps around her right arm, an Octillery wraps around her left, and all sorts of Pokemon fill in the smaller gaps.

She crosses her arms and leans against the doorframe, letting out a long yawn/half sigh. "Only because you're interested in Water types," she said, with the tiniest smile struggling to come to the corner of her lips. She looked exhausted.

"Eviolites, huh?" Tristan says, pondering the idea. "I hadn't even thought of that... but it might be a good idea. Would you like one, Ruby Two?" he says, smiling directing the question to the little Floette. "A little more spring in your step is always nice, huh?" Turning back to Ruby One, he asks, "What do they do, exactly?"

#One for Floette adding to SPD and HP would be really cool if you're taking requests...! Unless you think of something cooler. ;)

---

"This jewelry is simply wonderful. Look at these brooches and things! This one's especially elegant," he says while pointing toward one in particular shaped like a flower. "Could you tell me about them?"

---

Finally, Tristan turns toward the Fossils case eagerly. A fossilized Grass Pokemon? It would certainly be very unique. But pricey, and he had other errands to run. "I don't know if I could afford something like that right now... I have other things to pick up on this trip too; I'm on my way to Pika Place Market. I must admit it's tempting though."

#Lileep would be interesting to Tristan but honestly it's not super interesting to me as a player... it's kind of weird and ugly lol.

#lol y u hate Lileep. It's fine. Though owning a rare fossil plant may give you certain bonuses Floral Shop wise, you don't have to use it in battle

"Oho, Eviolites," Ruby says, pulling a little purple stone out of the case. "They contain an odd mineral that keeps Pokemon from evolving, but also makes them a bit more powerful. Each has to be custom made for the particular species, and once they're imbued it can't be changed. It takes a skilled hand to do it," she said with a smile and a wiggle of her wrinkling fingers. "Usually they cost at least $4,000, but I could make a nice one for my special little Ruby Two for just 3500 Pokeyen. I'll need Ruby Two's help with the process, but it'll only take a couple of minutes."

Flabebe Eviolite
Only affects not-fully-evolved Pokémon of the Flabebe family, decided when the Eviolite is made. Grants a +5 Bonus to HP and Speed, after Combat Stages. Prevents Pokémon from evolving when held

Ruby plucks the golden flower shaped brooch from the case. "You have a good eye. This brooch is made of tiny fragments of Sun Stone. Not enough to make a Pokemon evolve, but if it's worn by one that can evolve by Sun Stone, it'll fill them with a warmth that will make them even more beautiful. I'll sell it to you for 2500 Pokeyen."

Sunflower Brooch
A beautiful brooch with magical properties that draws attention to the user and makes them seem even more alluring
Pokemon Held item, only works with Pokemon that evolve via Sun Stone. The Pokemon holding this item starts with +1 Voltage in Beauty and Cute contests

"Ah, too bad about the fossil, but I understand... Those usually go for 15,000 Pokeyen. But they're worth it for collectors...maybe one day that kind of money will seem like nothing to you," Ruby said with a wink.
