Semira:
Semira spots Cascade standing on the Arena above, with her little Psyduck.

As Semira stares into the sea, she sees something that starts to float into view from her left. At first she thinks it's a Tentacool, then maybe a white plastic bag, but as it comes closer into view it's clearly a blue Frillish! It floats serenely through the water.

"Oh COOL!" Semira had heard about Frillish, but had never seen one in real life. In addition to being an adorable little floating blob, it was also part Ghost, so it was right up her alley. She took a shot of it with her camera to add to her album.

#She forgot to take off the Medium's Lens, so on the off chance that something invisible is there, it might show up.

Semira takes a close look at her new picture and notices Cascade standing above the tank. Oh! I should talk to Cascade while I wait. Maybe she'll ask me for my autograph... Semira smiles again at the thought of having a fan club, especially since she now has real experience with Ghost hunting.

#This is the beginning of a very special post series by Sean and Jen. Sean is busy cooking dinner/writing his thesis, but I'm reading Kylar's posts to him and he's dictating Ziggy's response to me. Except Ziggy is drunk and stoned, so whatever Sean tells me is what Ziggy thinks he's saying, but I'll give the drunk translation of what comes out of his mouth.

"Ohh, ha, that's Lorne," Ziggy says, munching on the chips that were just brought out. "I saw him lugging this huge fish through the PokeCenter. Apparently he works for NanoKlink or something, and...uh.. ...What was I going to say? Oh yeah, apparently I'm lunchroom gossip, dude. How Loretta steal loves my sweet tunes. From Walla Walla. Oh, beer!"

The waiter brings two beers and some guac for the guys, as well as a pile of tacos.

"So man, what the hell was that thing? Like, is it really a ghost, or just like, a "Ghost" ghost. You know? And those teeth...and it was scary...and purple. Purple!"

The waiter brought the margaritas quick. And the second. And the third. "Dude, did you say NanoKlink," Kylar near spits out half an uneaten taco as Ziggy drops that bombshell, "why didn't you say so sooner?" Kylar shovels another taco in as the waiter approaches, "These are all I can eat right? You better bring another batch?" Kylar turns back to Ziggy, "Zig, that thing is bad news man. It messed with my head, like crazy shit man. Stuff I hadn't thought about for years. Not only that, it was definitely working under the guise of someone. We gotta solve this thing man. I bet it'll bring good fortune. You like that Semira chick?" Kylar hiccups as he reaches for a handful of chips

Kylar:
"Maaan, I've be stoned as balls since that cupcake in the park," Ziggy says with a loud laugh. "The afternoon is kind of a blur. Blurry enough that I didn't think anything of NanoKlink. But you're right, that guy...I dunno bro. He seems...maybe alright?, but NanoKlink is bad news. But he hates Team Eco, so that's plus?" Ziggy takes a gulp of his margarita and downs a taco in one bite.

As Kylar recounts the dark memories the ghost brought up, Ziggy nods solemnly. "Hey bro, you know I'm your brother man. I'm here for you, no matter what dark stuff's rattlin' around in your head. You know you can share anything with me."

"Dude, we're gonna solve this, I'm with you all the way," Ziggy says with a fistbump that nearly knocks over a margarita.

"Semira? Yeah, she seemed cool. She sure seems to know a lot about that spooky ghost stuff. Man, I don't know anything about that, pffffftt," he says, leaning back in his chair. "She may be useful to have around. Who knows what other crazy stuff is out there."

"So what's next man? How do we figure out who sent that Gengar? And how do we smash them in the FACE," he said enthusiastically, slamming a fist into the table drunkenly and sending a few chips flying.

"Your telling me. I may need to hit that lady up before we leave. If the Rangers knew," Kylar snickers, "my ass would be... would be grass." Kylar laughs hysterically. "And he hates Team Eco. That's a huge plus." Kylar throws down two more tacos while Ziggy talks of Semira. "Yea man. She is pretty legit. Def saved my ass back there. A little strange, but who ain't. Ami I right?" Kylar is feeling really good at this point and starts to let his words come a little looser, "Man, that Gengar, it screwed with me. Brought up some bad stuff about my parents. You know most everything, but this, I've never told anyone." Kylar stops himself. "And today is not going to be that day my friend" Kylar changes the subject back on topic, "we gotta meet River, but I'm way too messed up. Dilemma."

Ziggy & Kylar:
"Okay dude, it's your call. But whenever you want to talk, you know where Zig is." Ziggy looks down at his watch, realizing Kylar's right - a couple hours have passed and they need to meet up with River. "Don't worry bro. Let's go, and I'll just do all the talking." Ziggy and Kylar pay for their tacos #at the amazing Happy Hour rate of free# and head back down to the Gym, their walk down to the waterfront a little more zigzag than usual. The view was beautiful as the sun was just starting to set over the water, a hint of pink creeping into the sky.

"Heeyy Rivvveeeerrrr," Ziggy yells while strumming an accompanying tune on his new electric guitar. "It'z Ziggy and Kylar, we're back! Where are yooouuu?"

Kylar, Ziggy, Semira:
Semira instantly hears Ziggy's singing, and turns to see him and Kylar at the front door.

River walks down from the cafe, looking much more well rested and happy than either of them had seen. "Hi you two. Looks like you got the relaxation you need. Thank you again for helping me - I'm afraid to think what would have happened if Kylar here didn't take interest in me," she said with a friendly smile. River notices Semira standing down by the aquarium and waves her over. "Cascade has fixed up my office, so we can sit down and talk. We have a lot to discuss."

Kylar, Ziggy, Semira:
#I figured I'd get this monologue of information over with. Feel free to respond to whatever I say with questions, actions, etc and I'll work it all in.

Ziggy's direction is a little sloppy, but good enough for this willing group. The four of them head into Semira's office, which looks completely different. It's clutterless and clean, not the depression den Kylar or Semira saw, or the battle-wrecked mess Ziggy saw. The coffee table has a neat stack of underwater Pokemon Photography books. Her blankets are neatly stacked and put on a shelf, along with a ton of Pokemon Training and Naturalism books. A small Squirtle stuffed animal sits next to her TV, and the opposite wall houses a surf board and scuba gear. Cascade is already sitting on one couch, and waves as they arrive.

"Please, sit down," River says, motioning to the couches. She puts out a bar of dark chocolate and a pot of coffee, cream and sugar, and cups for everyone to help themselves. "Thank you all again for being willing to help me. As Gym Leader, it's my duty to look over the well being of Rainshadow City, and sometimes I can't do it alone. But I'm a pretty good judge of people, and after what happened today, I know I can trust you."

"You already know my suspicions. I think NanoKlink is behind this. I've actively campaigned against their practices, and I'm the biggest opposition they face in the city. They pollute the waters. They over mine Prospect Pass. They deplete the surrounding ecosystem of rare Pokemon by overcapturing. They have such a monopoly over Pokemon technology that they can artificially manipulate the market, changing prices and demand on a whim. Not just in Rainshadow, but in Kadia...NanoKlink has a lot to gain by knocking me out of commission. They could have petitioned to have me replaced, and put someone more malleable as Gym Leader." River crossed her arms. "But my suspicions aren't enough to connect that Gengar and NanoKlink. We need some sort of proof. And if we alert NanoKlink that we're on to them, they may start acting to cover their tracks. We need to be smart about this. And I had an idea of one other person I trust who could help."

River turns on the tv and presses a button on her computer. The noise of a ringing phone starts to play, and in a blip the video call connects - and they see the bushy-bearded Professor Fir!

"Hello River! Oho, hello trainers! Jeramiah, Kylar, Semira. Good to see you again, and good to see you've crossed paths. I hope you're enjoying your eggs and your Pokedexes," he said with an excited eyebrow wiggle. He coughed and his face became more serious. "But Miss Evans has filled me in about these events. Very concerning indeed. However I can help, I'd be happy to get to the bottom of this. Gym Leader being attacked is unacceptable!"

River smiled at the screen. "Thank you, Professor. I was wondering if you could tell us more about Pokemon IDs and the PC system. We're trying to figure out a way to identify who the owner of this Gengar was. You're the expect on this; is that possible?"

The Professor smiled proudly. "Well I programmed the PC system, so I hope I can answer you questions!" Oh no...the Professor started his signature academic droning. "Each unique Pokemon that is captured is assigned an unique ID number. This ID is associated with a unique wavelength calibrated into their Pokeball - hence why Pokemon can only return to their own Pokeball, and not be captured by others if already linked. The PC storage system works by associating a Pokemon ID with a Trainer ID, and energizing the Pokemon to be stored digitally. When you want to retrieve a Pokemon, your Pokedex effectively searches the PC Database for the Pokemon-Trainer ID pair that matches your input. Because trainers like to see the stats of their Pokemon and things such as level, moves, etc, all of those attributes are associated with the Pokemon ID file."

The Professor finally takes a moment to breath. "Soooooooo, if you could somehow get access to the PC Database, you could theoretically do a search for Gengars over a certain level with particular moves you witnessed, and that would give you a list of Trainers who own Pokemon matching those parameters. As this is a fairly rare Pokemon, I predict you won't get a long list." The Professor crosses his arms, looking pleased with his clever plan, completely oblivious that a giant secret database tracking all trainers and Pokemon may be kind of creepy, to say the least.
