As Hugo talks about trying to capture a Flabebe, Tristan nods sagely. "Flabebe certainly are shy. You have to have the right kind of finesse to even find them," he says as he thinks back to how difficult it was to recruit Ruby to his team. "You're right though about how useful they are. Little Ruby here's been a grand help in assisting me with my own plants and Pokemon."

Ruby at this point looks up at the mention of her name. She's calmed down a little, and looks somewhat embarrassed at having been startled. She's begun staring intently at the Tangela, who is waving its lithe fronds to and fro at the Fairy Pokemon.

Hugo

A slightly smug smile crept across Hugo's face - he clearly liked the compliments, and the fact that this conversation was about him. "These particular breeds are hard to raise in captivity. Weird diets for the carnivores, and the fungi..." His eye rolls said everything about trying to grow that in captivity. "I have to harvest them at the right time in the wild - only selecting the best, of course - and then I spruce them up a bit before sale."

Tristan nods at this, knowing how finicky some Grass-types can be. "I know how you feel about the fungal varieties," he says sagely. "I recently came across a fine specimen of Paras in Prospect Pass last night..." he pauses momentarily to let Reginald out of his Pokeball, "...and under my guidance he's already grown into a respectable Parasect."

Reginald pops out, stretching his pincers and looking up at the table. Tristan can see the surprise in Hugo's face that he has a Pokemon like this. Parasect aren't traditionally beautiful, but Tristan has brought out the best in Reggie.

Hugo's Cacnea glares at Reginald, suspicious, and he reacts instinctively with a puff of spores toward the cactus Pokemon.

#Reginald learns the Move Spore

Cacnea looks strangely both tired an sickened for a moment, before it recovers. The spores didn't seem to have any effect on other Grass-types, despite how deadly they might have been.

#Reginald gains the Ability Dire Spore

"I'm sorry about that," Tristan says as he intercedes between Reginald and the Cacnea. "We're still working on his attitude. He's not very used to new situations, having come from a cave in the Pass. Looks like no harm done though, huh?" he finishes, a slightly sheepish look on his face.

Hugo

"But my real expertise is collecting useful "ingredients" from my own Pokemon," he said, waving at the non-Pokemon trinkets on the table. Now that Tristan was close enough to get a better look, he could clearly recognize some of the wares: Vials of Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Poison Powder, Bright Powder, and a particularly nasty looking purple poison; Revival Herbs and Energy Roots; mushrooms of every shape and size, many that he did not recognize, and some nasty looking spikes and barbs that looked like they came from Pokemon, but were meant as held items now.

"I can see you've done a good job here with harvesting these. I don't even fully recognize some of these items. It's something I've considered learning to do in the past, but have yet to really explore," Tristan says. "I've primarily been focused on perfecting my gardening abilities with more traditional berries and the occasional mushroom. I'm something of a whiz with a hoe," he remarks with a little laughter in his voice.

Kylar & Semira:
"Wait, Semira Luly?!" Cascade happily yells, Semira's photograph catching her in mid-squee (and her Psyduck mid-dopey look). "Oh Em Gee, I've seen all of your ghost photography on the Pokenet! I'm a huge fan! Kylar, you're the best, finding such an awesome ghost hunter!"

"I'm not the one who's haunted. Well, I mean, I don't think I am..." Cascade suddenly looks a bit worried at that possibility, but takes a deep breath to calm herself down. "River is our Gym Leader. A couple of days ago, she started acting not like herself. Constantly exhausted, feeling hopeless and empty...she just locks herself in her office and cries all day. She was fine the night before, but I swear she was a different person when she woke up that morning." Cascade frowned, clearly worried about her boss. "Something deep in my gut tells me she's haunted. I can't explain the feeling, but I just know I'm right. I'm afraid there's foul play...there are a lot of people who can benefit from a Gym Leader being out of commission. I'm happy to help you however I can."

As Semira glanced down at the photograph she took of Cascade, she'd be surprised at what she found. Cascade wasn't haunted, but something else was definitely up. In the background of the photo are trails of very very faint, wispy purple energy floating through the air through the cafe. The wisps are about 5 to 6 feet off the ground, and weave back and forth through the cafe.

Jonathan:
Clover lets out a little chuckle. "Hey, you're the one who threw a Fire Pokemon into the rain." She knew Lombre would restrain himself in a league match, and Phyllis would be fine. Though as Jonathan threw out Buttercup, Clover groaned. "Oh Arceus, I was hoping I'd never have to fight one of these again." Clearly Heather Huckleberry had traumatized others. "Goomy, get that cow before it's unstoppable!" (Focus Training)

The rain fell on Lombre, giving him just enough energy for one more attack. He scooped up the mud around him and flung it at the Flaaffy.

The Lombre collapses on the ground, knocked out from the burn. Clover returns him to the Pokeball. "It's all you, Goomy!"

Buttercup doesn't even feel the bubbles pop as she begins to tumble towards the Goomy.

Lorne:
You head down to the familiar NanoKlink skyscraper, flashing your ID at the seemingly infinite number of security stops. But that's how it had to be, sadly. NanoKlink was the place for cutting age technology, and they didn't need any spies or thieves in the building. After a brief ride in the elevator, Lorne makes his way to his boss's desk.

Humbolt was - let's not mince words - fat. He was tinkering over something at his desk, mustache twitching in excitement. "Lorne! Glad you could come. I know it's your day off, but you're my best salesperson," he says, trying to butter up Lorne. "Take a look at this." He handed Lorne a tiny microchip, and then a belt for Pokeballs that had a little keypad built in, and started to explain what they did.

Poké Ball Tracking Chip
Effect: A chip embedded in the inner workings of the Poké Ball that emits a signal allowing the Ball’s owner to remotely track the location of the Ball.

Poké Ball Alarm
Effect: A belt with six slots for Poké Balls. Poké Balls affixed to the belt are locked in place with a number pad password to unlock them. Tampering with the belt triggers the password prompt, and failure to input the correct password within a minute triggers a loud alarm system.

"NanoKlink wants to strike while the iron is hot. These will sell like Castelia Cones thanks to all that poaching nonsense Team Eco was up to in Prospect Pass. People are willing to spend any amount of money to protect their Pokemon," he said with a little chuckle. "Take this box down to Pika Place Market, and do your best to drum up interest. You know the drill. Say they're limited pre-release, won't be out for mass production, they need to be the first to have it, blah blah blah. Drop Team Eco's name, that always works. Don't sell the chips for less than 200 Pokeyen, and the belt is 1000 minimum. You get a commission based on how many you sell. Any questions?"

Jonathan:
Goomy flattens himself into a puddle, the rollout tumbling over him harmlessly. The Goomy is zapped by Rambo's electricity, but it seems somewhat ineffective. "Two against one, you can handle it! Finish off the sheep!" Clover yells (Focus Training).

AC(2): [result]8&8,1d20,0,8&1d20[/result]
Dragon Special: [result]33&5:3,2d8,25,33&2d8+25[/result]

To make matters worse, it looks like the rain is healing Goomy (Dry Skin).

"No way! It's great to meet a fan!" Semira is so happy that she's a minor celebrity right now.

She checks her camera. The wisps are definitely strange, but she's more excited about the fact that the lens itself actually seems to be working. She tries to see if she can figure out what's making those strange colors.

Intuition: [result]11&3:6:2,3d6,0,11&3d6[/result]

She also lets her Spiritomb out of its Pokeball. "My assistant here is pretty good at finding other sneaky ghosts. He's one of the sneakiest I've ever seen so he should be able to help." Semira turns to Spiritomb. "Do you see anything strange?"

Tristan:
"A Parasect? Now that is more my style," Hugo says, the tiniest amount of approval in his voice, almost hidden among the superiority. As the Parasect shoots spores at the Cacnea on his shoulder, Hugo coughs and waves the spores from his face, mildly irritated. "Good thing I've built up an immunity *cough* after all these years...Needle, don't antagonize the customers." He placed the Cacnea on the table, where it sat grumpily staring at Ruby.

"Though it doesn't surprise me he's acting erratically, now that he's evolved. Don't you know when Paras evolve, the fungus on their back totally takes over their brain?" He raised an eyebrow, like this should be common knowledge to someone interested in Grass types. "That's the mushroom talking."

"You're an expert ho-er, eh?" Hugo asks mischievously. "Maybe you'd want to tell me more about your techniques later tonight? I know a great bar."

Kylar & Semira:
As Semira looks at the picture, she notices that the purple wisps seem to be around head level, and they move around the room like an after image of someone walking around.

Cascade lets out a mini shriek at Spiritomb is released, and her Psyduck looks even more terrified. The ghost floats around the cafe, looking in every nook and cranny...but doesn't seem to spot any ghosts, at least not here. Cascade frowns, realizing the ghost didn't find anything. "I can also escort you to the battle arena out back, or the aquarium below. I think River's still down there in her office, if talking to her will help."

Flattery definitely works with Lorne. His boss' praise boosts his confidence that he can definitely get this job done. Plus, it's a good chance to knock down Team Eco a few pegs, which is always a bonus. "I'll get it done," he replies with a reassuring grin before taking the box with him.

Lorne makes his way over to Pika Place as instructed and finds an empty table where he can set up a little display so potential customers can see the product. He takes a moment to familiarize himself with the product, then adds one of the belts around his own waist, hoping it will help sell if people believe he uses the product, himself.

Once he's finally ready, Lorne starts calling out to the crowd: "Protect your Pokémon from Team Eco! With this limited edition Pokéball tracking device and alarm, you'll never fall victim to poaches and terrorists! 2000 Pokéyen for the belt and only 500 for the chip! But your Pokémon are priceless! Hurry, grab them while supplies last!"
