Not every pilot works the same, not every mech handles the same way. A pilot has as many means of fighting as a Martial Artist has techniques, or an Ace Trainer has training methods. Some fight using their intellect to outmaneuver the opponent, others pull through with sheer willpower and determination, and others more have honed their body to act and react perfectly to any situation. Either way they all share one love: for beating people up while piloting giant robots! note: chicks dig giant robots disclaimer: not all chicks dig giant robots Mech Warrior New Template: Mecha Pokemon Part of the issue with Mech Rules is how simply clunky they are, and how long it makes battles feel. Creating a way to make Pokemon act as Mechas may make this far simpler. Yes, it means not every Mecha you use will play the same, or even be on the same tier, but such is life, newer and better models come out all the time. Mecha Pokemon Template Sometimes just a good pilot isn't enough: you need a good repairman backing you up. Some folks want to contribute to the fight, but aren't skilled enough with a Mech to actually be on the front lines. Others are gear-heads, and simply love tinkering with machinery, particularly big, complex machines. Yet more are simply a different strain of Mentor, but in a very different setting: here to care for the Pokemon, and make them Stronger in their own right. But they all share one very important trait: they know how to get a Mecha Pokemon up and running. Mecha-Mon Engineer I do understand that this Class takes from a lot of other Classes in the game, but is made to target Mecha Pokemon. The entire point of this Class is indeed to do just that: take Classes that usually grant Passive Pokemon Support which would be unable to do so due to the Mecha Pokemon Template, and essentially give them a workaround for some of the juicier bits of the Classes without having to fully spec into the other classes. Admittedly the Mecha-Pokemon Template is a bit more of a GUIDELINE than a hard rule, I'll be the first to admit that. Edited by TM93, Feb 1 2015, 05:54 PM.

This is awesome and you should feel awesome. I now have to try and find a way to make a campaign using this stuff. However, before that, I have to ask two important questions. 1: How long does "My Mech, My Rules" last? 2a: How long does the use-effect of Mecha-Mon Engineer last? 2b: Was it intentional that you didn't add an AP cost to Mecha-Mon Engineer's use-effect? And the real doozy of a question: 3: Considering the kind of process you would normally expect from building a mech, be it from scratch or using a pokemon as the 'core', a la Zoids, is it really necessary for "We Can Rebuild Him" to have a Drain AP cost? I mean, unless the implication is that the Mecha-Mon Engineer has programmable nanites they can use to instantly apply the conversion, a process like that could be expected to take, in a best case scenario, about a week per mech. And I'm talking "Full crew of trained mechanics and technicians with pre-made parts that just have to be put together and then tested" best case scenario. |

I don't know enough to help say anything about balance, but this all looks like it could be a lot of fun. |

For the first 1-2b questions, that was an honest mistake, I should probably clarify. That was my fault, thanks for catching that. I'll edit it shortly. The lack of Drain on the 1st Effect was an accident, and shall also be changed shortly. Now for aforementioned doozy. Honestly, I had kept the whole nanite/instant change thing in mind, sometimes it'll be a relatively quick couple of hours, other times due to the setting it may take upwards of a week or more as you stated. I didn't want to lock someone into a highly specific time frame, just one that can't feasibly be done in the middle of battle. The Drain AP thing could probably be removed. Edit: Edited the Class, and sorry about the delay responding, I was rather busy for the last day and a half. Edited by TM93, Nov 9 2014, 10:09 AM.

Dat Gurren Lagann reference. In any case, this looks really good! I totally want me a Charizard Mecha. Wait a minute... What about Mega Evolution/Primal Reversion? Would they be affected by the 'mon being turned into a Mecha? Or Forme Changes? What about them? Edited by Neosonic97, Dec 3 2014, 03:33 PM.

Totally forgot those. Honestly, just slap a Mega Stone into some kind of Slot on the Mecha and I say go for it as per normal (+10 BST and Ability Added, Type Change Optional). Or have Rayquaza know Dragon Ascent. For Form Changes, probably an Extended Action outside of Battle (swapping forms on the fly on an already powerful weapon is not a good idea) Won't edit just yet, my net's been crappy as it is. |
