This class was spawned from an image I had in my head of a trainer recalling a Pokemon and, before the beam of energy had returned to the Pokeball, the trainer whips it forward and the Pokemon reappears at the end of the beam. Thoughts/Criticism/Etc... encouraged EDIT: Realized I should share part of the inspiration for this class: Clicky Clicky Spoiler: click to toggle Tràkata Master [Class][+1 Attack][+1 Speed] At Will - Extended Action Prerequisites: Basic Balls, Novice Guile Effect: At the cost of 2000P, you can create a Tràkata case. Tech or Guile Trigger: You declare a melee attack with a Tràkata ball Target:A Pokemon contained in an equipped Tràkata ball within recall range Effect:When you declare a melee attack with a Tràkata ball, you may recall the pokemon from the equipped Pokeball and send them on the opposite side of the target. interesting class idea, I can't see any obvious balance problems. Although, I don't believe "Pass the Ball" actually works as written unless you have multiple standard actions. It should probably be a free action with "Trigger: You declare a melee attack with a Tràkata ball", instead of a standard action. |

Good call. Updated EDIT: Realized a bit of an issue with the class. Added this: Quick Draw [+1 Attack][+1 Speed] Static Prerequisites: Adept Guile Effect: You are so quick with a Tràkata Ball, that when your pokemon is sent out again, it retains all Temp HP, Combat Stages, and Volatile Status Conditions. You can choose for this to not take effect Edited by Lwmons, Nov 3 2014, 12:10 AM.

Okay, one one hand, I like what this class is trying to do- you're a fighter who uses the energy beams from the Poke Balls as a weapon... somehow. This also has the added effect of rapidly swapping Pokemon between the user's party. However, I see a few issues with the class. Fluff-wise, it locks you into the idea that Poke Balls recall the target in a beam of energy- works if you're using the anime as a basis, but the Manga and Video games never show said recall beam; the Pokemon shrinks into a ball of energy and the ball reappears around them, pulling them away to the trainer. Mechanics-wise, a lot of what it does is just Juggler weaponized. Trakata cases basically allow for AP-less Quick Switch, and Quick Draw is basically a free Baton Pass on everything- and you might not want to pass on certain things to your other Pokemon, such as status conditions, so it's an inconvenience for the user as well. The class uses Guile and Edu. Tech (despite having one crafting feature), but ignores Acrobatics, the skill that would typically be used for throwing Poke Balls and other objects; and Combat, which would enhance struggle skills that the fluff of this class is based around. True Master, in a way, feels like a rip-off. You would only need to take it once (Dual Wielding does not exist, so I am assuming you mean Focused Command), it has prerequisites for a skill this class doesn't need, and it only works with this classes' features. My suggestions for improvement- It's a really cool idea; you're basically an Iai Swordsman, but with Poke Balls. The idea has a lot of potential, but it doesn't feel very focused towards it's goal. To start off, getting rid of Edu Tech and the Basic Balls prerequisite would benefit this class greatly. Not only do you extend your throwing range, but since you're getting Speed Tags and Acrobatics anyways, you're naturally inclined towards Multi-tasking, as well as other features/classes such as Practiced Movements and Juggler. Rather than having the class give bonuses to the Pokemon or craft things, focus on what the trainer is doing. I would make Quick Switch a prerequisite for the class, and maybe replace the base feature that enables them to get free Struggle Attacks off Quick Switch for an AP Cost or something. Pass the Ball and Energy Whip are fine, but the others are things you can do with a Juggler. Rather than try to replace juggler, I would suggest building the class to synergize with it. Think "How can I make the idea of Quick and Surprising attacks with Poke Balls stronger?", and work from there. Also, for The Style of Deception, might I suggest removing Feint and Feint Attack and having the feature give you something like a Guile Check made to lower the opponent's evasion against your attack? After all, if you build it with Acrobatics, the Practiced Movements Edge (grants Feint) is already an option to you. |

I figured it was a fluff thing, so it didn't matter too much, but I'm more than willing to change a few things.
I think you misunderstand. The point is you are using the same pokemon from the returning and recalling, it's meant to be you are rapidly shifting your pokemon around the battlefield to get a better tactical advantage.
I agree with the Edu. Tech part. I'll change that to something else. I was ignoring Acrobatics because you aren't doing as much throwing with this class, and I ignored Combat because the combat style was more based on trickery that pure force.
I did indeed mean Focused Command. I can see how it might seem like a ripoff. I'll change this when I work something new out.
I chose Feint and Feint Attack because the combat style is based on deception, because it seemed fitting. I did originally have plans to include features to lower evasion and capture rates through Guile, but I lacked the room initially. Thanks for the input! I'll toy around with a few things and see what I can do. |
