Random Arms & Armor Generator (Right now, it only does Arms, not Armor, but that's a function for another day. In the meantime...) I got a little inspired this weekend, and made this - a generator that creates randomized magical weapons. To use it, just specify a quality conning (much like in MMO's, they range from the completely crappy Gray to the amazingly awesome Gold), and a weapon type (like boomerang, rapier, throwing knife, etc.). Then just hit the "Generate Weapon" button, and it'll randomly generate a set of magical properties for the weapon, a description of the weapon, and a magic-y sounding name. Hit the "Randomize Weapon" to randomly select a new weapon type and quality con. Quality Cons, Explained The properties are purchased with a point-buy system. The data for how many points a given quality con has, and the price for a given magical property, are all contained there, as well as the naming information (which I'm not 100% done with, but that's only because there are tons of Abilities and Moves). The description is similarly based on the quality: higher-quality weapons will be made of higher-quality materials. The lists for these materials are contained in the "Naming" tab. Note that the magical properties and their point-buy prices are pretty much all 100% homebrew; as a GM, you should give any weapon at least a once-over to make sure it's appropriate for your campaign and its relative power level. But if you're running a fantasy game with lots of lightly-magic'd weapons, just need an impressive-sounding sword to throw around, or just want to roll a bunch of weapons up to see what happens, give it a try! I'm also looking for feedback. If you find the sheet doesn't have a magic property you want, or a weapon type you wish you could get, or it generates something that's just a little too weird or funky, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Still to-do, at some point in the future maybe:

Not sure if its just me, but when I download it (won't let me preview) it won't generate or allow any changes. Just gives "Error" (specifically Err:509 in the dropboxes for quality/weapon type) |

Major, are you using OpenOffice, or Excel, or some other program? I think OpenOffice might have an issue with named ranges. (It may also have problems with Excel macros, but it's been ages since I checked and they might be doing a little better about that now.) |

I'm using OpenOffice, I'll check some others actually. Usually I use the google drive, but it wasn't allowing that (Cannot preview this file, download). I know OpenOffice made me physically enable macros, but they're allowed now.

Quick update. Improved the naming schema somewhat, and added more naming information for Abilities. Available in the first post! And yeah, unfortunately, many Excel macros and features just won't work in anything but real-deal Excel. I actually did intend to try and make this for Google Docs at one point, but I got a little impatient and went back to a tool I already knew how to use. '>.> |
