The thief nearly transformed her dreamy smile into a malicious smirk as once again the cogs in her brain began to spin. Today was all too convenient! How quickly her luck had turned around! From nearly dead to filthy rich in less than half a day! Victoria managed to stay in her bubbly mood (not too hard a feat, to be honest. She was certain she couldn't feign unhappiness at this point) while she mentally ran through the lie she would tell.

"No, no, nothing like that! My boyfriend just proposed to me!" she gushed, nearly flailing about in excitement. Real excitement at that, especially if he bought the Tauros crap she was peddling.
"His father just granted him a large sum, so he bought a small ship and he's sailing us out to the Orange Islands today! Isn't it so exciting?" Victoria managed a dreamy sigh, staring off into nowhere in particular.
"We'll stay in his father's winter home, all to ourselves, and he said he's going to go shopping with me for a ring as soon as we get there so I get to pick out what I like!" Victoria kept up her excitement, faking being breathless and awestruck from the experience. She leaned her elbows on the counter and bent one of her legs up at the knee cutely, the toe of her boot grinding into the ground from her back leg.
"He's down by the docks right now getting the ship ready, so he sent me here to get everything we need. The ship's pretty new, and I haven't been sailing before, so I'm not sure what to get. I know we'll need a map, but... what else should I buy for m- my fiance!" Victoria giggled after the words rolled off her tongue, as if she had been waiting her entire lifetime to say them.

Rube was eating it up, too. Sucker. She could tell from that goofy grin on his face. Victoria shared a laugh with him. He was laughing from her enthusiasm, so happy for her, she'd bet. She was laughing at the stupid man in front of her. Hook. Line. Aaaaaand... Sinker.

Awestruck, stunned, and completely disarmed Vicky was left from the baker's charms. It stunted her basic instincts, lying to her as what she should do when he reached out and brushed his hand against her cheek. A shaking hand rose to close against it, gripping it nervously in hers. In any ordinary situation she would have thrust it away from her and shrieked at him not to touch her. Perhaps threatened to fetch the authorities if she wasn't compensated. But instead she simply kept hold of him as if were she to let go he would be picked up by the wind and flown away to parts unknown.

"Well now beautiful, why not tell me what you are doing and I'll see what I can do for you."

Victoria swallowed hard, lost in his cool grey eyes as she endeavored to speak. Her mind was in a foggy panic, normally never getting this far even when she was the one in his shoes. So she fell back to doing what she always did when in a spot of trouble. She tried to lie. Yet he had left her without the ability to, leaving her a sputtering mess.
"I-I'm going on a trip..." she managed to croak. A flash lit up her eyes as she realized how urgent the situation was and how close he was getting to her. The panic added haste, but no more skill to her wordsmithing.
"Sailing!" she announced suddenly, "I'm going sailing! W-With my friends! Yes, I'm going sailing on a trip with my friends!" Victoria laughed nervously, and swiftly set his hand down on the counter when she realized she was still keeping ahold of it.

He smiles at her.
"Your very cute. By chance would you be opposed to taking a cook on board? I'm quite gifted and would love to leave this town. I could bring supplies to make bread and cook with as well."
After telling her this he hands her a fresh baked cream puff.

The thief unconsciously reaches out for the pastry, not taking her eyes off his.
"...O-Okay..." she breathes softly, a smile twitching at her lips and falling back into the awestruck stare she'd been giving him since he had started speaking to her. Her face was now far from just rosy, now scarlet several times over, and the nervous shaking was becoming just as obvious as the sheen on her brow from anxiety sweat. She stood still, pastry clasped in her hands, shivering awkwardly and staring at him for a few moments before opening her mouth to speak again.
"M... My name's Vict-toria..." she managed to stammer.

"Well it is a pleasure to meet you Victoria. I will get the supply's moved on to your ship that I need. Thank you for letting me join you." He whistles towards the back and a vanillite and ducklet come out.
"We will meet you on your ship Victoria. Which one is it?"

"...O-Okay..." she repeats, her mind having oozed out through her ears and danced out the door nearly five minutes before. She continued to stand there for another moment or two before a moment of lucidity sparked inside her, lighting up transparently across her face.
"...Oooh. Oh! Oh-Um, I'm sorry!" she laughed nervously, her chest heaving much more than just the laugh had caused. She was left stunned and breathless by him, just now regaining her composure.
"It's...! Um...!" Victoria searched for the words, the description, a mental picture, anything that would help her tell him where he was going but nothing came. She winced at her own failure, quickly becoming self conscious and desperate. She forcefully grabbed him by the hand and began to lead him out the door.
"Just let me show you...!" she gasped with red face, feeling embarrassed as she pulled him along to stand outside with her.

From the street outside the pier was clearly visible, and several large ships were in view floating upon the waves. She pointed in that direction.
"It's down that way. It's the one with... with the... the dra- Dragonair! Yeah, the Dragonair! Ha, ha ha! ...Ahh..." she proclaimed before she forced herself to laugh again, smiling sheepishly as she quickly let go of his hand and took a few paces away from him, bowing her head and placing a hand to her racing heart.

Victoria Reaver more or less kept laughing awkwardly as the young man left to pack, thankfully waving goodbye with her empty hand lest she crush the pastry in her palm. She couldn't have been more relieved to get away from him, to be honest. Attempting to calm her breathing, the thief began to rhythmically rub her temples as she strolled down the street, red face fading in color to her normal tan tone. He made her feel... vulnerable. Open. Victoria didn't enjoy feeling that way. It meant she could get hurt, and every single time she decided to let someone in that's exactly what they did. They were never as they appeared or what she saw them to be. Sometimes they just left her to flap helplessly in the wind after tearing a hole in her chest. Regardless, she had already invited him and couldn't just shoo him away. She doubted she had the ability to. Most likely he would arrive with his goods, all packed and set to go, and she would melt into a barely-functioning puddle again as words tumbled out of her mouth uselessly like gravel in a rock slide. He was all she could think about as she continued to travel, the baker with the tattoo-

Wait. His name. She didn't ask for his name. Vicky smacked a hand to her face for her failure. How was she going to explain this to the boys? She so threateningly gave the mandate that they clam up like Shellder about the whole trip and here she went nodding like a moron to the first cute boy that asked to come. No, not that bad. He didn't know about the gold. And she wouldn't tell him until they were far, far from shore. Victoria wracked her brain to start up again, churning sluggishly, thinking on if there was anything she had missed. Yes. The first thing she promised to purchase when she arrived to town. Medicine. The conwoman spun on her heels and jogged to the doctor's office yet again.

After leaving the bakery and passing by the butchers Vicky makes her way to the doctors office.
"Hello again! How may we assist you!"
A overjoyed nurse calls out to Vicky as she walks in.

Same old doctor's office, nothing new to expect. The nurse at the front recognized her, of course. How many other bloody young women with bite marks had limped in today?
"Hey..." she greeted, slightly winded from the jog over. Victoria wanted to make it back to the ship before the baker did.
"You remember me from earlier today, don'tcha?" she asked the obvious, attempting politeness. "Well... I came to buy some medicine. I don't want to be attacked like that again and have to be carried here like this morning." As she spoke, the urge to lie, to swindle, welled up from within, and the cogs within her mind shook off the rust as they began to spin.
"It's just that... I'm very glad that you and the doctor made me healthy again, seeing as how I couldn't afford to carry any medicine myself." Victoria made herself sound sullen, slightly desperate, and a little shameful as she spoke.
"I don't have much, but... could I see what I can afford?"

The nurse looks at her with sadness and pity.
"You poor poor thing, I'm so sorry that you have hit a patch of bad luck. I feel really bad for the less fortunate and poor. I tell you what since you need some stuff to make sure that you are prepared for stuff here's medical kit."
She hands Vicky a larger white box with a chansey on the front.
"There you dear! Just remember be careful. If you are not up to the task stop and train harder and try it again!"
She smiles at Vicky and waves her good bye.
