On behalf of argent, here's the Combat Thread! This is the thread you'll post any rolls and actions you make to fight someone, capture a Pokemon, or do something in battle. The GM will let you know when you're entering battle, or you will know when you start it yourself. A current Battlemap will be posted, showing everyone's positions related to one another. In a straightforward battle, there may be no Battlemap. The GM will present everyone with initiative scores, and the fastest player gets to go first unless priority moves or actions are used (in which case they would go first). The player will post everything they want to do and all the actions they take (Trainer, Standard, Swift, Shift, Free, what the Pokemon do, etc.) and they will edit the map to show where they and their Pokemon now stand (what grid square they're in). Any attacks used will have colored grid squares to indicate Area-Of-Effect (a Line 3 attack would have 3 colored grid squares indicating the direction they wish to attack in a line from them, for example). They will also roll for themselves and their Pokemon. The GM will then roll against them and give the players the result of their turn. Once this has happened, the player will post about it in the IC thread, with the GM giving reactions. To make things easier for the GM, please link your Character Sheet in every post you make in the Combat Thread or have the stats you're already using typed up for the GM to read. Example: argent: You're jumped by a Pikachu. Roll initiative. CL: (rolls initiative) argent: You succeed. Act out your turn. CL: I move this way, then I take my standard action to attack. (rolls attack, updates the Battlemap to show where I am now) argent: You miss. Your turn is over. Pikachu moves over here and attacks you with Thunderbolt. (rolls attack, updates Battlemap to show where Pikachu is now). He crits you. You take X amount of damage. CL: (Update my CS to show the damage I took) IC Thread CL: I run this way, and swing my leg to kick the Pikachu, but he's too fast for me. argent: The Pikachu dashes over here and shocks you. It's incredibly painful. Like that. I'm still working on getting a system to use for Battlemaps, but it'll be coming soon. |

Wait... you can't edit your posts? XD Nvm, ignore the WIP above, it's mostly done anyway. A few things I noticed: - You can't add multiple modifiers to one roll (see in my example above). I wanted 1d8+6+11+5 but he rolled 1d8+6 (only the first modifier). So in my case I have to roll 1d8+22. The thing is in PTU, when you crit, you double the rolls from base damage (1d8+6) in that case, not the +11 from Attack Stat or +5 from Vanguard Ability. So even if you write 1d8+22, if you crit you have to inspect the roll and calculate how much you got from the roll, and then check on the DB table what the default modifier is... - Also, I PTU, you don't roll init. Init is simply your speed stat. If if an enemy and an ally have the same speed, the DM rolls 1d20 for each to see who goes first. (If its only multiple enemies or only multiple allies, they can simply decide between themselves/whoever is online and has time first). |

Meowth Battle Turn 2 Free Action (Quick Switch+Juggler, 1AP): On Vicky's turn, recall Magby, send out Eevee (Eevee gains +10 Initiative from Juggler) Shift Action: Move to flank Standard Action: Equip Weighted Net Command Action: Eevee uses Sand Attack (AC 2 check: [result]8&8,1d20,0,8&1d20+0[/result]) Successful Sand Attack will leave a target blinded until the end of their next turn, successfully flanked opponents take -2 Evasion. Could I get a heads up of who has initiative in this next turn so we can figure out who posts first for roleplay? (If it's Meowth, then it's you, but if it's Vicky then it'll go her then Eevee because of that +10 Initiative followed by Meowth. +10 Initiative's hard to beat at low levels) |
