Posting on behalf of argent, welcome to the Roll Thread! In this thread the players will make rolls for any skill check or other roll they are going for outside of combat. This is so a player can write the roll as it happens in the IC thread instead of writing that they're going to do something, then rolling, then what that something made them do. Which is pretty awkward. The player will instead announce a roll and what they're rolling for in the Roll Thread, and the GM (argent) will tell them whether they succeeded or failed and what happened because of the roll. Depending on the situation, the player or the GM will post the result. Remember to mention the modifiers you are applying. The GM might also give you additional modifiers. Two examples: CL(Roll Thread): I want to roll General Education to find out what I know about this town. argent(Roll Thread): Alright, go ahead. CL(Roll Thread): (1st roll below) argent(Roll Thread): Okay, you know this this and that. CL(In Character): I've heard of this place before. This is true, and this is also what I know. Not to mention that. CL(Roll Thread): I roll Stealth to slip by the guard unnoticed. argent(Roll Thread): Okay, but you take a -2 penalty because of the guards have already been put on alert once. CL(Roll Thread): (2nd roll below) -2 because of alert guards. argent(Roll Thread): Too bad, you fail. He sees you. argent(In Character): CL tries to slip by the guard, but he hears him. "Hey, what are you doing here!?" he shouts. Like that. When you make the roll in the Roll Thread, you can have a link in your IC post to the post you made in the Roll Thread for validity. [result]9&5:4,2d6,0,9&2d6+0[/result] [result]4&2:2,2d6,0,4&2d6+0[/result] |

So quick question: What do I roll to pick a lock? I'm assuming Stealth, but some people like to use Gen. or Tech. Ed., which is why I'm asking. |

Alright, gonna lie to the shopkeeper to improve his disposition toward Victoria, maybe get a discount or free items. I'm going to have her tell him that her boyfriend just proposed to her and they're taking a sudden trip with his father's dowry. Should I roll Charm or Guile? |

Alright, improving disposition instead of trying to trick someone to a specific result, so rolling Charm. Also, I'll make that extra thread and post a link in the main IC later on. |

I'll make the roll and let you know now, but Victoria is preparing to lie to the old woman about why she needs apricorns, claiming that she's an apricorn ball smith (which she technically is) that desperately needs apricorns to smith so that she can hand them out to the "gathering dungeoning party" (surely a few people would be stupid enough to try to stop the dragon) to save the town. If she doesn't have apricorns, never mind, Vicky will just leave. Guile check to trick the old woman into thinking she's helping save the town: [result]14&6:2:5,3d6,1,14&3d6+1[/result] |

Ha! What should I meet a Charm check with? XD Focus, I think, to avoid overspending on crap? I think I'll do that first. Maybe Intuition if he's trying to shortchange her or something. Rolling Focus to stay on task: [result]7&2:1,2d6,4,7&2d6+4[/result] |
