"These Oddish are something else," Tristan said, approaching the cage. "I'm a bit of a Grass-Type specialist. They're beautiful! That coloration!"

Jonathan & Tristan:
"Most of our visitors come for our drinks, so we don't usually have a heavy load on the kitchen. But tonight is an exception. Anyway, I must carry on. I'll check back later to see how things are progressing." Albert beckons for Tristan to follow him. All Jonathan can look at is the golden Oddishes hopping up and down happily in their cage. "Dish, dish," they say, sounding like a twisted joke since that's precisely what Albert wants to turn them into.

One particular seems to like Tristan. "A grass trainer, eh? Well if you do a good job, we can arrange to give you your very own Sweet Oddish. Though it seems like a waste to battle with them..."

Tristan:
Albert leads you through a short hallway in the back of the house. You pass a door that says "Green Room" and a makeshift star with "Lady Flash" has been posted beneath it. The door he opens is a little less exciting - a storage room. "We have a number of table clothes, vases, and other do dads in here. Feel free to search through this and see what you can use." He closes the door for now and leads you out the back door.

Now that you're outside, you can see the back of Yakka Yakka Farms. There's a large stone floored patio with a great view of the rolling vineyards to the south, and nearby gardens that encircle the patio. The south side of the patio has a large stage already set up with huge speakers and lights for the musical acts. You also notice a number of round tables with foldable legs stacked against the wall of the building, and wooden chairs stacked neatly. There's one long rectangular table already set out in front of the stage. You see three waitresses milling around the back, smoking cigarettes.

"That's the VIP table, so don't move it. All the other tables you should place out however works best for people to see the show. Please make sure to cover and decorate them in some way so it doesn't look tacky. Each table should have a centerpiece, but the VIP table's should be the best. You can use any supplies you can find in the store room, flowers from the gardens, or whatever you have brought or can create with your Pokemon."

Albert slaps himself in the forehead and digs a piece of paper out of his pocket. "I almost forgot. The event coordinator sent me his notes about the VIPs. They can be...fickle. But it is of utmost importance that we make them happy. Loretta Steel will be here!" he says excitedly. When you don't react, he adds, "She's the head of NanoKlink's Rainshadow City division. Very big deal. Anyway, try to come up with a seating arrangement that works, and make some fancy notecards to show them where to sit. Or something, just do what you people do."

The event coordinator's note reads:

"Loretta Steel is the main VIP and must sit in the center seat. Alfred Peabody, Manager, must sit next to her. Gertrude Krinkle loves to chat, and will be pissed with an end seat. But Loretta can't stand Gertrude because she won't shut up, so you shouldn't seat them next to each other. Francis Timpleton is hard of hearing and should be put closer to the stage. Ivy Summers is a lefty and doesn’t want anyone sitting immediately to her left so she has elbow room. Cassandra Strange won’t sit next to a man, and Leo Humbolt won’t sit next to a woman (don't ask, long story)."

Jonathan sits down and wracks his brain as soon as he is left alone in the kitchen with his thoughts and the maddening chirps of the Oddishes sitting there in the cage.

They'll surely expect at least some of this in the meal...so what am I comfortable with?

Gogoat milk and cheese is fine. Most poketarians have no issues with this stuff because it is almost always freely given.
Hoppips aren't actually used in the beer. Their moltings hold all of the aromatics.
Oddish leaves molt naturally and are pruned regularly. The sprouts on the top of their head are about as alive as our hair.

I can always use the meat of non-sentient animals to round out the menu. 90% of people can't tell the difference, anyway.

Twenty minutes in, Jonathan posts a sign outside the kitchen.

Tonight's Menu:

Starters:
GoGoat Cheese Fritters w/ XH-IPA Beer Batter and Wikiberry Tempura
Oddish Leaf Soup with Figyberry Broth or Hot and Sour Soup with Figy and Iapapa Berries

Main Dish:

Navratan Korma
Garlic Flatbread
Kadian Rice
Cherriberry Spritzer

Dessert:
RazzBerry Sorbet or Chocolate Death Pie with Whipped Cream.

Chef's note:

Special attention has been paid to those who would feel uncomfortable eating certain pokemon byproducts.

The Wikiberry Tempura, Hot and Sour Soup, Navratan Korma, and RazzBerry Sorbet have all been created with this sensitivity in mind.

As was his tradition, Ziggy took a little time to "look inward before the show". He found a nice little spot he knew on the side of route 2 and rolled one up "for inspiration". Ziggy could swear when he was smoking it that Loudmouth looked interested. He saw Kylar's text at around 4:15. "Haha, good for you Kylar. I got you covered" he laughed to himself. <No problem man. Just leave it to me> he texted back.

Ziggy arrived at 4:45 and was feeling proud of himself "I'm early... that's a personal best. You must be getting old and responsible and shit." Ziggy walked up toward the compound. "I'm Ziggy. Don't you all worry, I promise to rock this place like never before! Oh, I need one thing before I go on... I require two passes for my handlers" Before they can respond or try to re-negotiate Ziggy pops out Louthmouth, who starts practicing loudly, with the other members of the band jumping out of their pokeballs and joining the cacaphony.
Ziggy:
As you arrive at Yakka Yakka Farms, you see a nervous looking, skinny man out front with a gray mustache who's wearing a dapper suit and a bright green bowtie. You introduce yourself to him.

"Alfred Peabody, Manager. You're the replacement opener?" He looks at your ripped jeans and and leather jacket distastefully, but what were you going to do about musicians. "Handlers? But-" Albert is taken aback as you start an absolute ruckus with your Pokemon. "Excuse me... sir...You need to practice in the green room... EXCUSE ME!" he yells, trying to get your attention over the noise.

Tristan took a look at the note the coordinator left and just laughed a little. "He didn't even have a seat chart planned already?" he said to no one in particular. The solution was fairly obvious to a seasoned coordinator, of course. He'd put the women on one end of the table and the men on the other, then arrange them according to their various proclivities.

Ivy Summers would sit in Seat 1 to suit her handedness, and Gertrude could sit next to her in Seat 2. By putting Cassandra Strange in Seat 3, Gertrude would be able to gossip to both women, and Cassandra's preference to sit away from men would be satisfied, as she'd be sitting in between Gertrude and Loretta Steel in the center. To Loretta's right in Seat 5 would be Alfred Peabody, the man he'd had correspondence with. Leo Humbolt could sit next to Alfred in Seat 6, and be happy there as Seat 7 would be occupied by the hard-of-hearing Francis Timpleton. Everyone would be happy this way.

With that done, he surveyed the supply closet, and got his Pokemon out of their Pokeballs. Hmmm... several tablecloths in different shades, a few vases and things, nothing too elaborate. He'd seen Jonathan's menu posted and it was simple but sounded very well-prepared. He'd keep things fairly simple to. He got the supplies he'd need and put them on a cart, and had Barnaby tow the cart out to the patio.

"Ladies, could I get a little help here please?" Tristan called out to the waitresses. "I just need some help setting up the tables and putting on the tablecloths; I'll do the rest, don't worry. Not too much work!"

(Now, with their help or not...) The tables were set up in two wedges, leaving a column in the middle that ended with the VIP table. This left some room for servers to move about, and for guests to dance without obstructing the view of other attendees. After setting up the tables and chairs, Tristan put deep red tablecloths he'd found in the supply closet down on each table. The red would bring out the white plates he'd seen in the kitchen, further highlighting the food. Additionally, the color complemented Lady Flash, who he'd heard used a lot of pyrotechnics in her act. His Pokemon looked on, most of them too small to really help.

On each of the tables, he planned to place a simple terra-cotta planter filled with live flowers. Each planter would be set in wide dishes containing a reservoir of water, allowing for the evening's lights to be reflected on each table. This would also serve as a safety precaution for his other planned surprise, which was that each table would have a set of sparklers to use when Lady Flash took the stage. He'd found the sparklers deep in the supply closet, likely from some celebration last summer. A note was left with each set of sparklers indicating when they were meant to be used.

Next he went to the gardens, and had Felix, Flora and Ruby help him pick out the choicest flowers. Working together, they transplanted red and yellow impatiens into the planters. Ruby, Flora and Felix helped primarily by arranging the smaller pieces he had trouble reaching. Overall, he hoped it would look like a little riot of flame in the center of each table. That done, he picked a special set of red, yellow, and white roses for two vases he planned to put on the VIP table and went back inside, Barnaby dragging the cart with the planters behind him.

They all set to work arranging things as they should be, paying special attention to the VIP table and its additional two vases of roses on either end. Finally, he made the name placards and put them appropriately on the VIP table. He used yellow paper, and burned each guest's name into it using a hot knife. Fire wasn't really his thing, but flare sure was.

As a final touch, he had Cordelia sit in the center of the VIP table in reservoir of water. She acted as a small water feature, spraying water very carefully in a fountain above her but not near the guests. Ruby would be entertainment as well, flitting from table to table hiding in the flowers and waving at guests.

It seemed like everything was set.

Tristan:
#You also got a +1 from that Fairy Berry Pie!
The waitresses put out their cigarettes and happily help you out. After a couple hours of hard work, everything is looking fabulous. The tables are arranged perfectly, allowing room for a dance floor. The flower centerpieces look like flame, and water reservoirs look extra gorgeous now that the evening approaches, and they reflect the pinkening sky. You feel accomplished as you look out at the scene you created. It's not only classy, but thematically appropriate.

Albert appears, looking exponentially more frantic with every hour that goes by - but his face is glowing when he sees what you've done. "FANTASTIC! Oh my, this is beyond my wildest expectations. You're a savior. Please, I hope you'll stay for the show. I'm sure we can even squeeze in another plate of food for you. I'll talk to the chef." He turns to a waitress. "Get this man a glass of our finest wine, he's earned it!"

After a minute a waitress returns with a glass of a deep red wine and hands it to you. "Our classic Pinot Noir with hints of Cherubi. Don't worry, they like being juiced. Like a big hug!" she giggled.

"Hey, looks nice," says another one of the waitresses. "Way more cool than half our gigs. We have a couple minutes before guest start arriving - want a cig?"

#It's 7pm for Tristan. You can reply to this, but then you're on temporary pause until everyone else catches up. Wasn't expecting to blow your load all in one post lol

"Mr. Peabody, eh? Nice to meet you...Anyway...Yes, my handlers... they are a real necessity when dealing with this lot." Ziggy said knowingly, pulling his shades down with a wink and pointing a thumb back at his unruly pokemon "They can be quite a handful, great sound though!"

Ziggy turned his back to Alfred to face the pokemon "Hey! Settle down you bunch!" Ziggy yelled, though the face he made at the pokemon said "great work. keep it up. In no way should you do what I am asking" at which point Metalhead gently zaps Loudmouth who just starts wailing without end. Meanwhile... Victory is flitting around the Spearow and teasing it, causing the bird to loudly screech "KUH-KAW! KUH-KAW!"

Ziggy yells to be heard over the maddening noise "BETTER GET ME TO THE GREEN ROOM. THIS PROBABLY WON'T SETTLE DOWN FOR AWHILE WITHOUT MY HANDLERS, I'M SUPPOSED TO MEET THEM THERE!" Ziggy holds up his pokedex to emphasize his point and texts Kylar

<Meet me at the Green Room. Btw, you two are my 'pokemon handlers' if anyone asks>

#Sorry to do it all at once! I wasn't quite sure how you wanted it. :D

Tristan smiles at Alfred as he is praised for his work. "I'd be happy to stay for dinner, and thank you for the glass of wine. Mmm, beautifully fragrant; you can really taste the Cherubi."

Waitress

"Hey, looks nice," says another one of the waitresses. "Way more cool than half our gigs. We have a couple minutes before guest start arriving - want a cig?"

"Sure, that sounds nice after all this work," he said. "Let me just finish this glass of wine first. Wouldn't want to ruin the palate," he says with a wink. "I'll happily walk outside with you while I finish, though."

#Let me know when I should pop up again.

Kylar sees Ziggy's text as the little bat flys by. "And now we are probably gonna be late. That's what happens when you think with your "head" and not your head"

"Mandy, Ziggy just texted me. Our tickets are ready when we get back, but no rush" "Ziggy will understand. He knows how much I liked Mandy in high school.

"So... I know... Um... Caves arent the most exciting thing, but this one has a beatiful underground fountain., but we gotta take care of this bat. Maybe we could work together." "A pokemon battle, smooth Kylar. You really know how to woo the ladies"

#sorry my sisters graduation. I'll be mich more responsive tonight. Mandy and i have some spoiler tags to make lol.
